Welcome to another remarkable season at Arts Bonita! This year, we proudly celebrate the 25th anniversary of both the Visual Arts Center and the Bonita Springs National Art Festivals, which have shaped our community and elevated the arts.
Our School of the Arts, one of the finest in South Florida, offers a wide range of disciplines—from stone carving and pottery to glass fusion, metal work, painting and our renowned Atelier classical drawing program. Led by expert instructors, we provide unmatched educational experiences for all ages and skill levels.
Both our adult and youth education programs are expanding. We’re thrilled to introduce the new, state-of-the-art Helsel Family Dance Studio, where Marissa Jankowski is leading a new era of dance for students of all ages. Additionally, new programs in improv, drama, digital arts and film are generating even more excitement.
This season also marks another new chapter with the arrival of Senior Director of Education, Jon Artigo. His vision is already taking our programs to new heights.
In performing arts, we are presenting more concerts than ever, spanning jazz, blues, country, southern rock, Celtic and cabaret. We invite you to experience something new. Our resident artists, award-winning musicians from the region, continue to inspire and we are honored to showcase their talents.
Our Theatre season, under the direction of Joseph Brauer, offers a blend of beloved classics like Jesus Christ Superstar and original works making their debut. Plus, we’re adding gallery exhibitions, open houses and a new artisan market to the lineup.
We’re here for you. Let us know what else you’d like to see, what we’re doing well and how we can improve. Thank you for your support and we look forward to an incredible year together.

The atelier method reflects the classical academic tradition of the dedicated study of human form as observed from life. The core program consists of inter-dependent courses in basic drawing, cast drawing and painting, portraiture and short and long pose figure study that gradually orient the student to novel processes that enhance observation and form sensibility.
These courses are for all levels of experience with an emphasis on drawing before students develop their skills as painters. The atelier program allows for ‘rolling’ admission, at any level of progression, with each session offering a specific focus to help the student acquire a coherent working process that fosters skill development and an aesthetic that appreciates beauty through the truthful depiction of nature.
INTRO TO DRAWING 1 & 2
Each level will work with specific studies. Foundational drawing course that introduces students to four principles of visual language: Line, Shape, Value and Form (the gestalt) that can be applied to an array of different media and disciplines.

Students will use the extended time to create a small poster study before completing a drawing or painting that is transferred to hot-press watercolor paper or canvas. Location: Visual Arts Center
Students new to this course will copy two dimensional drawings from the Charles Bargue Drawing Course before proceeding to copying plaster casts inspired by sculptures from classical antiquity. Returning students will continue drawing from the casts with increasingly more complex subjects with the option to progress to grisaille (monochrome) painting using a 9-step value scale.

A STAGED READING
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR
SPILL: A STAGED READING
MAr 22nd | Saturday | 2pm
In April of 2010, British Petroleum gave orders to speed up production on its colossal drilling rig, the Deepwater Horizon. Despite the objections of many on the rig, safety measures were ignored or overlooked. On April 20th, the Deepwater Horizon exploded. Eleven men paid the ultimate price and countless thousands who call the Gulf Coast home found their lives irrevocably altered.

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR
APR 11th—Apr 19th | Thursday–Sunday | 7pm
The first musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice to be produced for the professional stage, Jesus Christ Superstar has wowed audiences for over 50 years. The rock opera is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Superstar follows the last week of Jesus Christ’s life. The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire.
Lyrics By: Tim Rice | Play Written by: Andrew Lloyd Webber
Directed by: Kody C. Jones* | Music Directed by: Rosalind Metcalf

The revamped gift store now proudly features some of the top artists and artisans from the region, showcasing their exceptional creations. From intricately handcrafted jewelry to captivating paintings and sculptures, each piece reflects the unique perspective and skill of its creator.
This curated selection of regional talent adds a distinct flavor to the store, offering customers the opportunity to discover one-of-a-kind gifts that capture the essence of the local arts scene. By spotlighting these talented individuals, Arts Bonita not only enriches its offerings but also fosters a sense of community and appreciation for the arts.
We welcome and encourage artists who are interested in showcasing their work in the Gallery Shop to apply! To get started, simply complete this online application, including uploading images and providing details like dimensions and media for the pieces you’d like to submit.
Please keep in mind that every submission goes through a jury process and Arts Bonita retains the right to select only those pieces deemed suitable for the gift shop.
Please feel free to submit more than one form. Each application page accepts up to three entries.
To submit more than three items, please refresh your browser and complete the form again.
Once work is selected for the Gallery Shop, artists will sign a Gallery Shop Consignment Agreement stipulating the terms of consignment and will submit a completed W-9 with the signed application.
The agreement includes a time period for how long Arts Bonita will exhibit the work, price of the work and the following payment split between artist and Arts Bonita:
Arts Bonita Artist Member: 75/25
Arts Bonita Member: 65/35
Non-Member: 60/40

Our centers offer state-of-the-art facilities catering to both visual and performing arts. Artists have access to spacious studios, rehearsal spaces, exhibition areas and a range of specialized equipment to support their artistic practice.
We believe in the power of art to inspire and connect communities. As part of the residency program, artists will be encouraged to engage with the community through workshops, exhibitions, lectures and public performances. This interaction fosters dialogue, promotes cultural exchange and expands the reach of the artist’s work. This program provides exposure and recognition for the artists, allowing them to share their creative vision with a wider audience.
Artists interested in the residency program are invited to submit an application consisting of their portfolio, artist statement and project proposal. A selection committee comprised of art professionals and our staff members will review the applications and select the artists based on the strength of their work, artistic potential and alignment with our mission.
Our Artist Residency Program aims to provide a transformative and enriching experience for artists, nurturing their creative growth and fostering a vibrant artistic community. We welcome artists from diverse backgrounds and disciplines to join us on this inspiring journey of exploration and artistic discovery.
