The Centers for the Arts Bonita Springs provides resources and mentoring for developing minds to further their interests in the visual and performing arts. We are here to help unleash their creativity and watch their love for the arts grow!
As one of the largest and oldest youth art programs in Southwest Florida, Arts Bonita really has it all-from animation, drawing, painting and sculpture to music, dance, film and theatre. Our classes connect students to hands-on projects and experienced faculty members who are passionate about our mission-Arts for All!
ACTING/THEATRE
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
ACTING FOR THE CAMERA: COMEDIC OR DRAMATIC MONOLOGUE
Craft intimate, compelling performances for the camera. Work with carefully selected dramatic/comedic pieces that showcase your range. Create a professionally filmed and edited video of your polished monologue.

ACTING FOR THE CAMERA: SHORT FILM
A specialized one day workshop where students will perform and produce a short film. Each student will leave the course with a high-quality video of their performance.

Through engaging theater games and quick-thinking exercises, students will build self-confidence while learning the fundamentals of improvisational comedy.

Experiment with an array of paper types. Create art that is both functional and decorative, including items such as sculptures, hats, mobiles, marionettes, necklaces, garlands and ornamental pieces.

Explore principal elements of drawing, such as lines, shapes, textures, values and colors. Learn how to use watercolors, tempera, oils, crayons and markers.

ARTS BONITA ACTORS THEATRE
The Theatre Program at Arts Bonita ignites a passion for the stage in young people, offering hands-on experience in acting, directing and backstage work. In April of 2010, British Petroleum gave orders to speed up production on its colossal drilling rig, the Deepwater Horizon. Despite the objections of many on the rig, safety measures were ignored or overlooked. On April 20th, the Deepwater Horizon exploded. Eleven men paid the ultimate price and countless thousands who call the Gulf Coast home found their lives irrevocably altered.

The first musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice to be produced for the professional stage, Jesus Christ Superstar has wowed audiences for over 50 years. The rock opera is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Superstar follows the last week of Jesus Christ’s life. The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire.

Proceeds directly support our youth programs in visual arts, performing arts, film and digital arts through scholarships and educational outreach programs in Title 1 schools. Each year, we provide over $150,000 in scholarships, using the arts as a powerful tool to build imagination and creativity—skills that benefit children throughout their lives.
