FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER
I am especially honored to introduce this issue of Uncorked, our first since the induction of our new Board President, Brad Chambers. On June 7, Mr. Chambers was officially installed as the 13th President of The Center Club by Interim Board President Ron Peterson during a historic Board of Governors meeting.
The entire Center Club team looks forward to partnering with Mr. Chambers in the seasons ahead. We will always be grateful and appreciate Ron Peterson’s leadership and guidance over the past year.
Our esteemed Board also approved the Club’s new five-year Strategic Plan, allowing for seamless operations, measurement of achievement and formulation of new goals as we remain the region’s premier city club. Our six proven-powerful “strategic pillars” remain unchanged, with new goals associated with each.
• An exceptional club experience. Planned renovations take the 15th & 16th Floor kitchens and guest areas to the next level with world-class and state-of-the-art amenities.
• A vibrant multi-generational membership. Elevate our next generation of members with a focus on downtown resident and young member programs.
• Distinctive brand identity. Ensure the Club communicates clearly in all areas while tracking and measuring the effectiveness of our messaging.
• Professional & gracious staff. Invest in our team by recruiting, identifying, hiring and training our region’s most promising candidates.
• Operational excellence. Define four areas of focus to include management, finance, service delivery and governance.
• Superior facilities & ambiance. Provide a spirit of innovation attuned to evolving member interests and ensuring a beautiful atmosphere of hospitality and inclusivity.
We hope you have an enjoyable and safe summer and we look forward to seeing you soon.

BRADLEY CHAMBERS
Elected as President of the Board of Governors
was a good fit for Chambers. “I liked the feel, atmosphere, dynamic of the Board,” he says.
As he begins his tenure as president, Chambers has three goals in mind: to support ongoing Club efforts to grow and diversify membership; to maintain the strong brand of highquality service and an exceptional Club experience; and to reinvest in the physical space of the Club.
“The Center Club has always been a melting pot,” he says, referencing the Club’s founding as a place that welcomed members of all religions and races in its first few years. Today’s Club takes an even broader approach to diversity, seeking to attract members of different ages, professional backgrounds, gender and ethnicity.
Bradley Chambers is a Baltimorean. He grew up in the area, attended Towson State University and has worked for locally based medical institutions for his entire professional career. Currently, he is senior vice president and chief operating officer, Baltimore region, for MedStar Health. And now, he is the 13th president of The Center Club Board of Governors.
“I’m very honored,” he says about his election by the Board of Governors in early June following the Club’s annual meeting.
Chambers knows The Center Club well; he’s been a member for 15 years. “I joined the Club in my role as president of MedStar Union Memorial Hospital,” he shares. Chambers knew it would provide exceptional opportunities for networking, plus serve as a great location to bring patrons of the hospital. “I fell in love with the experience” that The Center Club provides, he said, citing the welcoming atmosphere and exceptional, quality service provided by service team members as well as executive leadership.
Chambers quickly became a frequent user of the Club. He and his wife enjoyed social occasions, and MedStar Health held many dinners and events at 100 Light Street.
When he was asked by Board members Julie Mercer and Bonnie Phipps to consider being on the slate of candidates for the Board of Governors years ago, he agreed. It, too,
Maintaining the Center Club brand remains a priority. Chambers consistently refers to the “experience” of the Club, clearly understanding that the heart of the Club lies beyond the beautiful décor and exquisite cuisine.
Finally, the Club needs to overhaul kitchens on both the 15th and 16th floors, replacing appliances and adding culinary technology. The key will be sequencing, Chambers says, to ensure that the Club can continue to serve members seamlessly as the behind-the-scenes work is completed.
Brad Chambers’ leadership skills have been honed through a career dedicated to medical institutions. He earned his master’s degree in health sciences after his undergraduate degree in business administration and management. He worked at the University of Maryland Medical System for five years and joined what was then Helix Health (now MedStar Health) in 1995.
In 1998, he was named vice president of operations for MedStar Union Memorial; in 2005 he was promoted to chief operating officer; and in 2009 Chambers was named president of MedStar Union Memorial.
Since 2015, he has also been president of MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital. He serves on the Baltimore Region Advisory Board of Sandy Spring Bank and Executive Committee of the Maryland Hospital Association. He also is a board member for the Greater Baltimore Committee, Towson University Foundation, and Maryland Catholic Conference, among others.
Chambers’ career choices, volunteer leadership and role as president of The Center Club reflect his loyalty to his hometown. They demonstrate what Chambers affirms: he is “committed to the growth and success of the city.”

A jacket is required when wearing dark jeans. Gentlemen, no hats and shirts must be tucked in.
Sports logo apparel can be worn in Bar100 on game days only (Go O’s and Ravens!). Neat, clean denim may be worn in Bar100 only when attending a concert following your visit to the Club.
Never accepted: Flip flops, crop tops, cutoffs or hats for gentlemen

Cell phones, laptops and other similar devices may be used in all areas of the Club outside of the Joseph Meyerhoff Dining Room with discretion so as not to impose upon other members and their guests. Only handheld communication devices may be used silently in the Meyerhoff Dining Room. The use of speaker phones is prohibited and all devices must be silenced throughout the Club.
