oUR HIStoRY
the center club was established in 1962 at a time when prominent Baltimore business and social leaders were seeking an environment that would offer fine cuisine and attentive service in a setting of privacy and tradition. Unlike other clubs at this time, the center club was founded on a charter of inclusiveness.
Since the beginning, The Center Club has been one of the most prestigious locations in Baltimore to meet colleagues and friends, dine in comfortable and subtle elegance and enjoy entertaining with others of like mind. Emphasis is placed upon those elements that constitute the essence of a fine private club.
In 2009, the center club underwent a renovation of the main floor, the first significant upgrade to the club in more than 20 years. In 2015, the orioles Pub, a casual dining venue, was added to the 16th Floor. In 2018, the 16th Floor was totally renovated to enhance our private event space.
Located on the 15th and 16th Floors of 100 Light Street in the heart of downtown Baltimore, the center club offers renowned panoramic views of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, Federal Hill and sports stadiums.
the center club has been named a top 100 city club in the World since 2018 and a top 50 city club in the U.S. since 2014. Platinum status is regarded as the pinnacle of recognition in private clubs, and the center club is the only 5-star Platinum city club in the city of Baltimore.

AMBASSAdOR COMMITTEE
the Ambassador committee is comprised of no more than 40 members who are responsible for introducing the club to potential members, proposing new members, engaging with prospects through the process and supporting them when they join the club. Ambassadors should get to know and engage with prospective members to build a rapport that would lead to greater member retention.
EVENTS & MARKETING COMMITTEE
the Events and Marketing committee is comprised of no more than 25 members. this committee is the result of combining the Events committee with the Marketing committee. the committee assures that special events hosted by the club are meeting the desires of the membership and provides guidance in promoting the club to prospective members as well as in creating greater usage of the club by members. Additionally, the committee monitors and makes recommendations on the activities of club organizations including Intraclubs, Interest Groups, club events, Young Members’ committee events, etc.; as well as provides oversight to the club’s communications, member surveys, website, social media plans and member benefit offerings.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
the Finance committee is comprised of no more than 10 members with a finance background. the Finance committee will receive operation, membership and financial reports of the club and discuss and provide financial insights. the Finance committee will also review any club audits. Assists and counsels on matters pertaining to the finances of the club.
HOUSE/FACILITIES COMMITTEE
the House/Facilities committee is comprised of no more than 12 members who ensure that food & beverage standards of quality and service are maintained at the highest possible level consistent with overall club objectives. this committee provides oversight of all F&B operations with particular attention to hours of service, price structures, events/activities and member satisfaction. they also assist and counsels on matters pertaining to maintenance of the club’s facilities and interior design. In addition, advises on the club’s dress code and ensures the enforcement of the rules and regulations of the club according to the by-laws.
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
the Membership committee is comprised of no more than 30 members and is responsible for the on-going recruitment and retention of members for the club. the committee establishes policies and procedures concerning the admission of candidates to membership and examines the qualifications of each candidate before making their recommendations to the Board of Governors.

the Young Members committee is comprised of no more than 30 members who work to recruit and retain members under the age of 40. through various committee designed events and other tactics, the committee introduces the club to prospective younger members and keeps them engaged and interested in the club.

1. the club’s parking garage entrance is located at 101 S. charles Street and can be found on the right side of charles Street, just north of Pratt Street. It’s a private garage on the right marked by a brown center club sign.
2. Approach the closed garage door at the end of the ramp and use your membership card to enter.
3. Enter the garage and follow signs to center club parking.

PARKING
the club has limited parking beneath the building during business hours Monday through Friday, which is available on a first-come, firstserved basis and only for those visiting the club. Members and their guests are charged a flat $15 per car rate on weekdays between 7 AM–5 PM. Parking is complimentary after 5 PM on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Members may park at the club when the club is closed. Building security will request to see your center club ID card before granting entrance to the parking garage.
Additional Parking
Available across the street at the 30 Light Street Garage (next to Royal Farms), which is accessible from both Light and Lombard Streets. Fees are set by and paid directly to the parking garage.

MONTHLY STATEMENT dELIVERY OPTIONS

In the Payment Summary box of the Make Payment section on the My Account, the default payment amount will be your last statement balance due. the box that says, “Include scheduled payments” is the last statement amount, and is the defaulted amount to be paid.

We understand you may be attending a sporting event or concert following your visit to the club. While it is acceptable to be a bit more casual than when dining in the Joseph Meyerhoff Dining Room, we do require members to adhere to our policies. the holidays are a special time here at the center club and require a more elevated dress code from business casual. the holidays are a time to celebrate with friends and family, and the club asks that your attire reflect the holiday and the celebration. this means jacket and tie for gentlemen and a dress/skirt or slacks for ladies.

the club offers complimentary coat check service.
NO TIPPING POLICY
the club has a no tipping policy. once a year, members are billed a flat amount as a contribution to the employee Holiday Gift Fund. this Fund is used to recognize the club’s staff for their service throughout the year. If you wish to change the amount charged, just note this on the remittance or contact the accounting department with the adjustment. It is reasonable that one should consider their usage of the club in making this decision.
ELECTRONICS POLICY
cell phones, personal digital assistants, laptops and other similar devices may be used in all areas of the club outside of the Main Dining Room with discretion so as not to impose upon other members and their guests. only hand-held communication devices may be used silently in the Main Dining Room. Taking a call on a cell phone inside the M dR is not permitted the use of speaker phones is prohibited and all devices must be silenced throughout the club. If you need a private space to make or take a call, please check in with the receptionist who is happy to find an available space to do so.
SPOUSE/PARTNER PRIVILEGES
the spouse/partner of a member has all the privileges and responsibilities of a member. they may use the club without the presence of the primary member, may bring guests, may sign chits for food, beverages and service and use reciprocal clubs. A separate billing account (S Account) may be set up for an annual fee of $50. However, if set up for automatic payments with a credit card, this annual fee is waived.
UNACCOMPANIEd GUEST POLICY
As a member, you can extend a Guest c ard to a friend or colleague which allows them to use the club when you are not accompanying them. You may request that your guest’s charges be billed to your house account, or if you prefer, to your guest’s credit card. You are responsible for the charges incurred by your sponsored guests if they do not pay.
You may provide a Guest c ard to two separate individuals up to two times per year each so that each unaccompanied guests may only access the club a maximum of two times per year.

As a courtesy to our members, we allow your guests to use a credit card. When you are making a reservation, please let us know that your guest will be using a credit card so we may note their charges on a separate chit.
Splitting Charges
When dining with another member, the assumption is that the member making the reservation is hosting. If you wish to split charges, please indicate when making your reservation.
BILLING & PAYMENTS
House Account
All charges when visiting the club are applied to your house account and billed at the beginning of each month. they cover the previous month from the first through the last day of the month. Statements are typically mailed during the first week of each month. A 22% surcharge and 6% sales tax (9% beverage tax) is automatically applied to food & beverage charges. this is indicated as a “++” after the price. We offer payment options online.
dues
Membership runs from January to December. Dues statements are mailed in the fall to be paid by January 1 of each new year. If you wish to pay your dues semi annually, you must notify Accounting each year no later than the last day in February and pay a nominal service charge.
Resignation
As stated in the bylaws, if a member wishes to resign, provided they have not used the club during that calendar year, the member has until the last day in February to notify the club in writing. If the resignation is not given timely, the member shall be obligated to pay the annual dues, regardless of the method of payment (including installments). It is requested that a reason for the resignation be included in the notification to resign.

16TH FLOOR PRIVATE EVENT SPACES
the center club has the accommodations and expertise to ensure that your social or corporate event will be planned and executed flawlessly. From bar mitzvahs and proms to board meetings and corporate receptions, we have nine spaces available for rent that can host anywhere from two to 600 guests.
WILLARd HACKERMAN BUSINESS CENTER
the Willard Hackerman Business center is a quiet area to use as a temporary office between appointments.
Workstations are provided in addition to current business publications and daily newspapers. this is a shared workspace, so no phone calls or meetings should be held in the Business center.
LEAdERS LOUNGE
Whether waiting for a colleague, holding informal meetings or having a cocktail before dinner, members may take a seat and relax in the Leaders Lounge area on the 15th Floor. Wireless Internet is available in the reception area and throughout the club.
REcIPRocAL cLUBS
the club has reciprocity with nearly 100 clubs worldwide. Members must request a Letter of Introduction be sent to the Reciprocal club in advance of a planned visit. Letters will be issued for members in good standing and are valid for 30 days from issuance. Members should call the reciprocal club prior to their visit for reservations, rules and operational information. As guests at reciprocal clubs, center club members are to settle their accounts upon departure.

Given the rising use of social media, the photographic and video capabilities of smart phones, and the ease and spontaneity of posting to social media sites, the club believes it is appropriate to establish a social media policy that serves the best interest of all members. We recognize there is an expectation of privacy that comes with membership and this policy is intended to honor that expectation.
Members are encouraged to exercise their utmost discretion and respect for others’ wishes and obtain permission from members, guests, and employees of the Club before taking photographs or videos in which those individuals might appear. Photographs, videos, tagging or mentioning names should not be posted to social media sites or shared publicly without the express permission of individuals appearing in the photo, video or mention.
In addition, members are encouraged to consider the potential impact their posts may have on the reputation of the club and its members, even if those posts are made on the member’s personal social media accounts. the center club reserves the right to remove any post from the member-only platforms and to request a member remove a posting deemed inappropriate by the club.

Executive Forum & Executive Forum 2
Executive Forums connect like-minded, experienced business leaders interested in learning from each other on improving how they do business. Monthly meetings engage members to share best practices, discuss relevant topics, explore ideas and opportunities to increase profitability and expand their network among trusted colleagues. Both groups are intended for B2B and seek noncompetitive businesses.

the Beer club comes together several times per year. Events include educational tastings to cover color, aroma, carbonation and body. tastings could also include pairings. Whether you enjoy a lager, porter or stout, there will be something for everyone.
Book Club
Gather together with other members for a bimonthly Book club curated by members of the group.
Golf Club
the Golf club gives golf enthusiasts a space to connect and build camaraderie. Members will gather several times a year for golf outings, guest speakers who educate members on the latest technologies within the sport, and more. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a newbie to the green, this club is for you.
Healthcare Connections
this Interest Group provides an opportunity for members who are passionate about healthcare to interact and meet with the top healthcare industry leaders and service providers in an intimate setting.
Wine Club
the purpose of the Wine club is to gather members who have an appreciation for the enjoyment of wine. It provides a venue for members to taste and discuss wines on a scheduled basis over tastings, tours, educational seminars and other suggested events by the members.
Women in Business
the Women in Business Intra club gives professional and entrepreneurial female members a venue to connect and network together. An informal happy hour is held the first tuesday of every month.
Real Estate Connections
Real Estate connections gathers Baltimore’s top real estate leaders and service providers in an intimate setting, providing content that is unique, informative and current.
Veterans Initiative
the Veteran’s Initiative is about bringing the unique perspectives of military veterans to the center club. the Initiative is a forum to discuss a range of topics such as current events, the intersection of industry, innovation, and the modern military, projects, and history with veteran speakers, authors and businesspeople.
Whiskey Club
this Group gathers members to learn and try interesting whiskeys and bourbons and meet fellow aficionados.
The Boating Club
the Boating club connects members who like to get out on the water with informative, expert-led programming covering topics such as safety at sea, entertaining aboard, how to be a good guest on a boat, how to buy a boat, chartering in new and different places and other interests members may have.

MEMBERSHIP CLASSIFICATIONS & CLASS CHANGES
the center club offers numerous classifications of Membership depending on age, proximity to the club and Individual (personal) vs. Entity (transferable). Non-Resident members must both work and live 25 miles from City Hall.
once a Junior or Intermediate member reaches the maximum age for their category, they will automatically move to the next class. once a Retired 65 member reaches 75, they will automatically move to the next class. We offer three types of Retired Memberships (Resident, non-Resident and 75). once a member retires
from business and reaches the age of 65, they may apply to switch their classification. Members may also apply for n on-Resident status if their situation changes and they now live and work further than 25 miles from city Hall.

Resident Members are individuals who hold title to a voting membership and reside or have their principal place of business within 25 road miles of city Hall in Baltimore.
Non-Resident
non-Resident Members are individuals who hold title to a voting membership. non-Resident Members neither reside nor have their principal place of business within 25 road miles of city Hall in Baltimore.
Intermediate
Intermediate Members are individuals 30–39 years of age (based on age in January) who elect to be Intermediate Members and hold title to a voting membership. Upon attaining age 40, an Intermediate Member shall automatically become a Resident or non-Resident Member, as the case may be.
Junior
Junior Members are individuals 21–29 years of age (based on age in January) who elect to be Junior Members and hold a voting membership. Upon attaining age 30, a Junior Member shall automatically become an Intermediate Member.
Retired 65
Retired 65 Members are individuals who hold title to a voting membership. Retired residents are 65 years of age or older who have retired from business. When eligible, current Members may contact the club and request to change their classification.
Retired Non-Resident
Retired non-Resident Members are individuals who hold title to a voting membership. Retired non-Resident Members are 65 years of age or older who have retired from business and do not reside within 25 road miles of city Hall in Baltimore.
Retired 75
Retired 75 Members are individuals who hold title to a voting membership. Retired 75 Members are 75 years of age or older and have retired from their place of business.
Entity Membership
An Individual Resident, Intermediate, Junior or non-Resident Member may designate their Membership as a corporate, Firm, Institutional, Governmental or nonprofit Entity Membership or whom the Member is affiliated. By designating the Membership as an Entity Membership, the Entity may transfer the Membership, upon approval of the Board of Governors and with the payment of an administrative fee, to another nominee of the Entity upon the death or termination of the relationship between the Entity and the Member or if the Member ceases to be a Member of the club.
the first applicant from the Entity will pay the full initiation fee and additional applicants from the same Entity will pay 75% of the then current initiation fee. Each applicant will pay full annual dues according to their age category and have voting privileges.
All house charges, dues and fees associated with membership are the financial responsibility of each individual applicant, not the company by which they are employed.
Legacy
Any person, who is a child or stepchild of a Resident or Entity Resident Member (full dues paying members), may apply for membership without the payment of an initiation fee but will pay the annual dues corresponding to the selected individual membership category.
Honoree
Members who have been club members for 50 or more years and are 80 years of age or older are recognized as an Honoree and pay no dues. Honorees continue to hold title to a voting membership.
After 5
this membership class is limited to 50 Baltimoreans who want evening access to our panoramic views, exquisite cuisine, and superb service in a safe and trusted space. With an After Five membership, you’ll prepay for your usage, which allows you to dine at the club and host your own private functions. You’ll enjoy access to the club tuesday through Saturday evenings from 5–9 PM.
