Lincolnshire Foodservice Business Achieves Greater Energy Efficiency & Reliability
With a long history dating back to the 1930’s, South Lincs Foodservice are an independent foodservice supplier based near Boston, Lincolnshire.
THE CHALLENGE
Our client faced a significant challenge with their warehouse lighting system, which had become outdated and inefficient over time. The main objectives for this project were to improve energy efficiency, increase reliability, enhance lighting levels, and reduce maintenance requirements. They turned to us for our expertise in upgrading their lighting system.
THE SOLUTION
Our lighting consultant conducted a thorough site audit and identified subpar lighting levels throughout the warehouse, caused by outdated and low-quality LED fittings. We proposed a solution to address this issue, which not only increased lighting levels but also maximised efficiency savings. We installed CEMA Lighting’s Super High-Output IP65 Circular HighBay, a luminaire with an efficiency of 200 lumens per watt, resulting in a more uniformly lit and safer working environment. With an anticipated lifespan of 100,000 hours, maintenance requirements are significantly reduced. Additionally, we recommended the installation
of motion detection sensors to further increase energy savings by 30% for South Lincs Foodservice.
THE RESULT
The results of our upgrade were remarkable. South Lincs Foodservice now benefits from a brighter working environment, improved safety and wellbeing for employees across the site, and a reduction in annual energy costs of 54%, resulting in a short return on investment of only 1.52 years. Furthermore, there was a significant reduction in their carbon emissions by 9.65 tonnes annually, equivalent to planting 58 trees every year.
