A Real Hero
Cecilia Palavicini Escalera 3o Secundaria
Heroes save lives, change the world, and prove to us that nothing is impossible. We all love superheroes, like Superman, Batman, or maybe Spiderman. However, there are real life heroes that deserve to be respected and honored. Not all heroes wear a cape: policemen, doctors, soldiers, and firefighters. They all risk their lives to make a positive change in the world. They put their lives in second place to save others. A real life hero understands what the person is going through. They may not have superpowers, but they truly understand the problem. Heroes are not just people who save lives; they are people who make history.
Valentina Tereshkova is a great example of a hero. Since she was young, she was interested in space. She started practicing skydiving at the age of 22, and she made her first parachute jump. She was really good at it and really enjoyed doing it. When the space race began, she was selected to be the first woman in space. She flew into space in a shuttle called Vostok VI in 1963. She orbited the Earth forty-eight times, setting a new record. However, there was an error in the spacecraft's navigation system, and she had to fix it manually. She had to be brave and determinated to do it. Valentina showed the world that women are unstoppable. She proved that if you want something, you need to fight for it. I believe she is a hero because she changed the point of view people had about women. She is still alive and at 84 years old still helps in space exploration and missions.
In conclusion, true heroes have always existed and still exist. However, I think we don't recognize all of them, and the things they do for the world. We are overinfluenced by movies and legends. We need to wake up and start looking at true heroes.
