Christmas is coming! Ladies and gentlemen. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to read our New magazine CARS2BUY. It is with pride that we issue the second edition on the Costa del Sol and hope for at least the same amazing reception that our first edition recieved. If you are a car enthusiast, and are not totally against a comfortable lifestyle - stay tuned! New in this edition is a series of articles called ”Who is?” These articles will feature some very interesting personalities based in or around the Andalucian area. The articles will feature celebrities in the andalucian community, sportstars, actors, rich and famous or even oldtime gangsters. Interesting people with great stories to share. In each edition the featured personality will be given the opportunity to choose a charity that CARS2BUY will offer a halfpage advertisement free of charge to enable them to gain support to help them to continue to carry on with their great work offering support to some of the people or animals that live and work in the area. In this edition we will get to know Victor, who has been the owner of 42 years, of the legendary Victor´s Beach Bar 1978. Everybody seems to know this great man but, who is he really?

crazy early Christmas seems to start. (apologies to those who like to start early) It starts as early as October when the shops pull out the Christmas candy and decorations are being displayed in November. When people are going bananas about the presents, often loaning money or using all their savings to give their children, family and friends really impressive gifts, but hold your horses folks! Is Christmas time really about that? Who gives the most impressive and expensive gifts? Or is it the time where we can actually be together, spend quality time with our loved ones, relax, play games, eat our favourite food, and drink responsibly. As an elderly good friend of mine once said, (he was sadly an alcoholic for fifty years): ”There are a few days through the year I dont drink, these days are for the amateurs and the children, its Christmas eve and the national day”! Please have a peaceful and responsible Christmas time my friends! Until next year - Hasta la vista!

I myself have a very special bond with Victor’s Beach Bar as it was here I met my wonderful wife and it was Victor himself who blessed the rings and put them on our fingers some weeks after our wedding. Christmas is quickly approaching and for me, as a Norwegian, who is used to snow, slush and cold weather, I will have to find my christmas spirit in other ways perhaps by sitting in the sunshine on the beach or walking the dog on the paseo during sunrise or sunset. Oh how I love Spain! One last thing that is close to my heart and what I have witnessed more and more in the last few years just how

The French manufacturer of hyper sports cars now consistently pursues this path further with the new special-edition Centodieci1. In addition, Bugatti is echoing its recent history with an exclusive and extraordinary small series. 110 YEARS OF BUILDING SPORT CARS “With the Centodieci, we pay homage to the EB110 super sports car which was built in the 1990s and is very much a part of our tradition-steeped history,” says Stephan Winkelmann, President of Bugatti. “With the EB110, Bugatti catapulted itself to the top of the automotive world once again after 1956 with a new model.” It was a crucial interim step for the production facility that was newly founded in Molsheim in 1998, taking Bugatti back to its roots in France, and the first hyper sports car of modern times – the Veyron. “We are proud of our long Bugatti history, of which the EB110 is very much a part. That’s why we’re celebrating a reinterpretation of this extraordinary vehicle with the Centodieci – Italian for 110,” says Stephan Winkelmann. The EB110 was built in Campogalliano, Italy, but from the very outset it never denied its French influences. Former owner Romano Artioli opened the factory on Ettore Bugatti’s 109th birthday – 15 September 1990. Artioli made a deliberate choice in opting for Campogalliano, a small town in Emilia Romagna. The location had a key advantage in the 1990s: it was in the catchment area of several Italian sports car brands, so Artioli was easily able to recruit experienced employees for his project. Artioli presented the super sports car EB110 to the public on Ettore Bugatti’s 110th birthday – hence the type designation: EB for Ettore Bugatti, 110 for his 110th birthday. (Continues).

As the year end approaches thoughts tend to drift towards Christmas and other pleasant things, New Year celebrations for example. However, if you are in business, I would like to offer a few suggestions that deserve your attention before your brain closes down for the holiday season. All too frequently we come across businesspersons who tell us how they regret not taking action towards the year end to mitigate tax bills. The simple fact is that many small/medium businesses do not know what their business accounts contain. YEAR END PLANNING Some take the view that it is the businessperson that should ask their advisers to explain their accounts. Maybe so, but

APPROXIMATE PROFIT You should know by now what approximate profit you will generate and this is the time of year you should meet with your adviser to plan what you can do to either decrease or increase the amount of profit. For example, you may have a particular project for the coming year but it may be far more tax advantageous for you to bring this project forward to this year, thereby reducing tax payable in 2020. Or it may be beneficial to postpone expenditure a few months, because of your tax situation or because you need to maximise profit to get bank finance. Your adviser will be able to direct you as to the most beneficial course. CHECK THE BALANCES Of special importance is to go through all the balances in your accounts, to ensure that they reflect reality and include no amounts that have been wrongly allocated that could be problematical for you at a later date. Pay particular interest to any ‘Shareholders’ account that exists, a cheeky little ledger, often used as a dump account, which can have particularly nasty tax consequences. Also, look out for a mysterious “cash account” which is also used to lose payments or receipts that have not been identified. Make sure all cost invoices have been taken account of, otherwise you will end

up paying more IVA and corporation tax than necessary. Check the balances on your sales accounts, making sure all invoices have been properly dealt with so that a realistic profit is shown at the year end. None of this is complicated and a few hours work now could save you problems and/or tax. PENSION SCHEMES On a more creative note, an excellent tax saving tip for businesspersons are investments in Spanish pension schemes. Every bank and financial institution in Spain offers such schemes and they are very tax efficient, resulting in almost half of the contributions being effectively paid by the Government. Interesting! The tax-free contributions aren’t huge, up to 8,000 € per annum but still result in a good tax saving and it’s always sensible to put money aside for retirement. GENERAL DEDUCTION Also, if you are newly self-employed, you can claim a 30% general deduction on profits but, beware, you have to tick the right box on your annual income tax declaration to claim the deduction. Thanks to the eight-speed dual clutch transmission, the shifts are smooth and quick and manages the revs well, The Bentley was also great for driving around Marbella old town with its tight and small roads, the car adapted amazingly. Considering how large and heavy the Continental GT Convertible is, there are minimal amounts of body roll. Even at speed, the body motions are supremely well controlled, it´s the adaptive suspension making this possible. While the steering may initially seem a bit light, it is precise and sharp, and responses are impeccable, leading to a driving experience that feels nimbler than something of this size should. Braking is also no problem at all, as the new Continental has the largest steel brakes ever fitted to a Bentley. (Continues).

Testosterone deficiency is typically diagnosed with a simple blood test. The time of the day when the test is performed, following certain procedure as well as adding extra tests as needed, is important as well. Chronic alcohol abuse, type 2 diabetes, drug and certain medications can lead to testosterone deficiency.

TESTOSTERONE DEFICIENCY Taking into account all of the above it is important to establish if some of the symptoms one complains of, like reduced libido, difficulty concentrating or making decision, difficulty obtaining or maintain an erection, poor results from exercise programme, changes in cholesterol profile etc, are not due to testosterone deficiency.

THE FERRARI OF THE SEA From Ventura Spain Exceptionally fast, uber-cool, very glamorous and Italian – you can see why Pershing motor yachts are often called the Ferraris of the sea. But that is far from being the full story. Because, when it comes to creature comforts, a Ferrari is no match for the sumptuous designer luxury of a Pershing. Typical top speed for this kind of high-performance production motor yacht is around 35 knots/40mph/65kph. Very few are capable of 40 knots. Even fewer are capable of 45 knots, but one such is Pershing. It’s all down to raceboat technology. If you’ve ever watched a racing powerboat at speed, you’ll have seen the huge rooster tail of spray cascading high into the air that follows in its wake. The reason for that is what are called surface drives. Conventional propellers operate underneath a boat, whereas raceboats use surface propellers which extend behind them. As the name suggests, they operate on the surface of the water, with only half the propeller immersed. Sounds bizarre, but due to some hi-tech science, that actually makes them much more efficient at high speed. Almost all Pershings have surface drives, with the exception of a conventional drive option on the very smallest model, the 54ft Pershing 5x, and water jet drives for the very largest, the 140ft Pershing 140. To reach 45 knots in boats of this size takes quit a bit of power, rather more than the typical Ferrari. The Pershing 5x has twin 1000hp engines. The new 84ft Pershing 8x reaches 50mph with twin 2435hp engines, or 55mph with the 2x2638hp option. Impressive for a 60 ton boat. If it’s luxury waterfront designer living you’re after, the pictures tell that story better than any words. A Pershing is a model of premier league Italian luxury, styled and furnished by some of Italy’s top designers, with deck spaces that would put some villas to shame. (Continues).

Costs of buying a property in Spain When buying a property in Spain, it is important to consult with a reliable professional realtor who will properly advise you of the associated costs of conveyance in addition to the purchase price. Taxes levied on buying a property in Spain frequently change. As of 1st January 2019, these are the costs you can expect to incur: TAXES There are two scenarios – buying a “resale” property, which is where you are buying a used property from another individual. This is referred to as “Transfer Tax” and is charged accordingly.: Purchase Price Up to 400.000€ 400.000€ - 700.000€ 700.000€+

Victor, of Victor´s Beach, gives us a little insight into his past, his world and, well, what makes this Marbella legend tick… So, who is Victor? In the words of the man himself, “Victor is a friend of everybody.” Born Jose Antonio Rodriguez Gonzalez, in Algeciras, in 1950, son of a military father, he had a pretty normal education and moved location regularly due to his father´s job. He was one of six children, all born in Andalucia. “I was a true Andalucian, like a gazpacho!”, he laughs. “When I was a young boy I was an altar boy for the church. My house was opposite the church and I would run there to ring the bell. It was so much fun jumping on the ropes and pulling to make them ring. I was very happy; I loved my family and friends. I always put others in front of me and I liked to look after them.” So, where did the name Victor come from? “About ten years ago I officially changed my name to Victor Antonio as that´s what everyone called me because of the beach bar. Antonio was my father’s name. I don´t know where Jose came from, so I dropped it. So now I am officially called Victor Antonio.” (Continues).

You were a professional football player, I believe? “I played for Córdoba and we were an okay team in the 2nd division but then in 1972 we moved into the 1st division. I made good money for four years, but I didn´t like the discipline of the football, so I left when I was 23. Then I came to Marbella to visit a friend.” This small Andalucian town, as it was then, worked its magical charm. “I fell in love with Marbella and wanted to live here. There were beautiful women everywhere and I was a famous football player so it was a very exciting time for me as a young man. I had so many friends of all nationalities. Everyone mixed with everyone, it didn´t matter where you were from. I met the tennis star Bjorn Borg. He used to play a lot at Puente Romano and we became friends. He was a great guy, very humble and natural. Also, the father of the King of Spain, Juan Carlos, used to come here on his boat and we would hang out even though they were older than me. We had a great time together!” he remembers.

Many famous people came to Victor´s Beach.”

“I have two children, my daughter, Elizabeth, who is now 49, and my son Victor, now 39. I also have two grandchildren. Now I am married to my second wife of 25 years, Manuela. I met her at a bike meeting in Marbella,

Victor gets up from his chair to greet another guest who has just arrived at the beach bar. He seems to know everyone and is always happy to greet them personally with a warm welcome. So, tell us more about the people who frequented your beach bar.

Victor´s first job in Marbella was in a restaurant called ‘La Tricicleta’, owned by a Belgian, Philip Marc, who was also an artist. “I learned a lot from Philip. I met some great people through him, Alfonso Hohenlohe, Jaime de Mora and Count Rudi, a lot of people.” After a while Victor opened a couple of his own little bars, “But I soon got fed up of working the evenings and I just loved the beach, you know how it is so relaxed on the beach. I really wanted a beach bar. I met an English man called Frank Evans, and together we made Victor´s. I bought him out in 1981. We didn´t want it to be too big; we didn´t care too much about money; we were happy enjoying life, drinking in the discos, pubs and piano bars, riding our

“People used to say to me ‘Victor, you are crazy opening a beach bar so far away.’ There was nothing other than The Marbella Club and Puente Romano, that was it. When I opened Victor´s Beach in 1977/1978 it was called Istán Beach at that time as I suppose it was the closest beach to Istán.”

even though she is not interested in bikes which is better for me as I can go alone,” he chuckles. “She is a great woman and takes really good care of me.”

“I often had a drink with George Best. Sean Connery frequently came here too. Also, I met Aristotles Onassis here once. He came in from his yacht Christina. Others who visited us here often were Bobby Charlton and Bobby Moore. We had many German football players here too. They came because of all the beautiful girls like Sofia Loren; so many famous people hung out here at the beach.”

Just how different was Marbella when you started this beach club 42 years ago?

Victor, I understand you have a love of motorbikes. Is that something you have had a passion for from a young boy?

“Marbella was very different to today. Now you need five minutes to cross the road and before it would take me two seconds. There were not many cars

I played professional football, I had to keep it a secret. There were many things we were not allowed to do as a player, like ski, climb mountains and ride motorbikes, but I did them anyway! I still own my first Honda 750. Then I moved on to a Harley Davidson because this is the best bike for my age to cruise around. I have been riding with a group from Córdoba since 1975. We would ride from Cordoba to Marbella, quite a distance back then when there was no autovia.” That must have been great fun when the roads were much quieter! “We used to ride from Córdoba to Antequera as there was a 20km straight road there and we rode very fast along that stretch of road. We went to Torremolinos then on to Marbella and back to Córdoba, about 118Km in around an hour and a half. That was very fast, but then I was 22 years old,” he smiles “Now I don´t ride like that; I´m much slower.”  Victor and his long time friend Mike Leja have a common passion for Harley-Davidsons and they are both directors of the old motorcycle club Don Jaimes Angels.  Victor´s Beach has a magical atmosphere, it is a one of a kind along the beach in Marbella with its spectacular sunsets.   Victor´s Hispano Alemán “funcar”.  The interview is over, Victor and Mike get back on their bikes and ride off in to the sunset. So, you prefer motorbikes to cars? “My passion is motorbikes. I drive a quite normal car in my daily life, I have a Mercedes E-class cabrio. But I do have a “funcar” a Hispano Alemán from 1973. It was built in Mallorca and is one of only 7500 of it´s type. Every year, on 22nd December, my wife, Manuela, and I dress up as Santa Claus and Mrs. Santa Claus, and we go out in the car taking presents to family and friends. It´s quite funny and we love doing it!” Victor is a strong and respected member of the local community and supports Marbella charity CRECE, an organization established in 2003 for children with special learning needs. “When they began there were only five children and now there are 93 and growing yearly. CARS2BUY was invited to come and join in when Porsche Club España held their track day, for members, at the Ascari race track. The drive up from Marbella early in the morning is quite spectacular in itself, as many of us who have visited Ronda and its surroundings well know. Be aware that in Wintertime the temperatures differ a lot from the coast. Up in the mountains, as I arrived at the gates of Ascari, and the morning sun rose, even the palm trees wore frost, and the car showed minus 4 Celsius, crisp but with a beautiful sunrise and blue sky. Ascari is located near Ronda, in an area of incomparable natural beauty. The facility has been designed to indulge the needs of motorsport lovers, as well as to cater to private corporate events and promotional presentations. To this end, the highest quality facilities and service are underpinned by truly personalised attention. Ascari is, without a doubt, special, and both the standard of the facilities and the track itself are impressive. FUN, FUN, FUN Sixteen members of the Porsche Club showed up with their cars on this clear morning. Only a couple of the vehicles were rigged for racing, the rest were normal streetcars. Driving your own car on a track like this is a great experience, as you learn so much about the limits of your car, how it handles and how much you can push it before it loses its grip and you are off track.
