Congratulations to Oregon resident, Sydney Payeff ‘23, on being named valedictorian of the Class of 2023! She is the last of the third generation of Cardinals in her family to attend Cardinal Stritch. Academically, Sydney has excelled achieving President’s List and First Honors. Sydney plans to attend Bowling Green State University Honors College in the fall to study Business Administration.
Congratulations to Point Place resident Analise Quiroga ‘23, on being named salutatorian of the Class of 2023! Throughout her high school years at Cardinal Stritch, Analise has been actively involved within the Cardinal community. She has been a member, a teammate, and a thriving student as she has been involved with many challenging academics and rigorous extracurricular activities.
Sydney was a four-year varsity volleyball and basketball player (earning captain for both). She also earned TAAC All-Academic Awards.
Analise has participated in four different varsity sports throughout high school including cross country, soccer, basketball, and indoor and outdoor track and field.
She participated in Youth Leadership Toledo her sophomore year, and continued to serve on the Youth in Philanthropy Encouraging Excellence (YIPEE) committee her junior year. She helped, or volunteered, at the Toledo Zoo, Queen of Apostles Clean-up Days, United Way Days of Service, and Habitat Playhouse Build. This Cardinal not only worked hard in the classroom, but she was involved in every part of campus activities including National Honor Society (librarian - junior year and treasurer - senior year), four-year member of student council (class rep freshman - junior years and secretary - senior year). She served on the Cardinal Core preparing for all-school Masses. Sydney was on the homecoming float committee, prom committee, musical (set design, paint, and stage crew), art club, cardio drumming club, and wellness club. Sydney’s mother, Julie (Christen) Payeff ‘87 is the daughter of Chris (Daunhauer) Johnson ‘66 and the late Joe Christen. Julie and her husband, John, have sent all their children to Cardinal Stritch. Brandon ‘15, Matthew ‘18, and Sydney ‘23.
She was inducted into the Monsignor Michael J. Waltz Chapter of the National Honor Society her sophomore year and has maintained her membership, serving as a librarian her junior year and president her senior year. Analise also became involved in Student Council her senior year and held the position of treasurer. She has shown her faith as a part of Cardinal Core since her freshman year, setting up for Masses, and being chosen as a Kairos leader for her classmates. She has also shown her love for service as she has been actively involved in service within the National Honor Society, Park Church, and many other opportunities within her school and community. Analise plans to attend the University of Findlay in the fall, majoring in Animal Science, Pre-Veterinary Medicine.
