ALL OHIO FAMILIES ELIGIBLE FOR STATE SCHOLARSHIPS! “The approval and expansion of Universal Choice Scholarship eligibility and increase in scholarship amounts to all Ohio families is transformative for a choice in education!” ~ Bill Berry, President/Head of School With the approval of the Ohio HB33 - ALL FAMILIES ARE NOW ELIGIBLE to apply for the Universal School Choice Program! For the 23-24 school year, there is an increase the scholarship dollar amounts AND the eligibility to ALL OHIO FAMILIES, NO MATTER WHAT SCHOOL DISTRICT YOU RESIDE IN! This change allows students whose family’s household adjusted gross income is at or below 450% Federal Poverty Level (FPL) (approximately $135,000 per year, for a family of four) to be eligible for a scholarship of $6,165 for grades K-8 and $8,407 for grades 9-12.
The new scholarship amount is now $6,165 for grades K-8 and $8,407 for grades 9-12. Students whose family’s household adjusted gross income is at 451% FPL or higher will receive a scholarship based on a sliding scale. The approval of the Universal School Choice Program (aka EdChoice Expansion) provides all Ohio students’ eligibility to receive a scholarship. How would this help families with tuition/fees? See below for an example of the possible monthly cost with an approval of this scholarship! Sunday, November 12 12:00 -2:00 p.m. Cardinal Stritch Catholic High School & Academy is hosting an Open House on Sunday, November 12, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to come and meet administration and faculty, take a private tour to view our classrooms and amenities, ask questions about enrollment, college placements, and how your family can apply for the new Universal Choice Scholarship.
“Open House is a chance for families to experience Cardinal Stritch’s offerings to high school students, such as our exclusive partnership with Mercy College of Ohio!” ~ Jade West, Admissions & Enrollment Manager Prospective students and families are encouraged to attend and inquire about our other college credit options, campus ministry, fine and performing arts, athletic programs, and clubs. Administration will be available to discuss Mercy College of Ohio College Credit Plus (CCP) courses, along with our CCP classes available through University of Toledo, Owens Community College, and Lourdes University. Our World Language Immersion Program, where students (grades 7-12) self-select from 25 global languages to study, continues to grow in its second year. Stop in for a demonstration and try the program for yourself. Visiting students will be able to register to be a Cardinal for A Day. This preview program is available five days a week and pairs prospective students with a Stritch student with similar interests. We hope to see you on November 12!

Principal Mel Viers has said that, “Our faculty, students, and administration are thrilled to be chosen by Mercy College of Ohio as the first school in the Toledo area to have this partnership.” This collaboration is aimed at increasing Cardinal Stritch’s access to college-level courses while in high school. It will provide students the exposure to the many careers in healthcare through shadowing opportunities and presentations by healthcare professionals provided through Mercy College of Ohio and Mercy Health Systems. Under the partnership, high school students will take college-level courses and earn both high school and college credit in Mercy College’s College Credit Plus (CCP) program that began in August 2023. Visiting students may register to be a Cardinal for a Day. This shadow program is available five days a week and pairs a prospective student with a current student with similar interests. Be sure to register for the annual High School Placement Test (HSPT) for non-Catholic school students, scheduled for Saturday, December 10, at 8:00 am at Cardinal Stritch. The HSPT is an admissions requirement for Toledo area Catholic High Schools. Honor Scholarships are awarded based on test scores.
