My philosophy as a Personal Trainer is that we all must find the right balance with muscular strength, physical endurance, nutrition, flexibility and mental stimulation Having consistently delivered sessions for over ten years with clients of varying demands and needs, I am familiar with many forms of training techniques, designed to stimulate different muscle fibres and achieve different goals
Boxing and functional training is my passion, combine that with my strength and conditioning knowledge I was an aspiring Amateur boxer, after all the years I dedicated to my own personal developmentpersonal training was a very natural progression for me, I am able to pass on my skills and passion
I’m an experienced personal trainer, I have previously trained a wide range of clients successfully whilst based in the middle east I have a vast experience of working with different cultures and ethnicities
I’m passionate about helping clients to improve their quality of life, overcoming limitations to improve their physical and mental wellbeing
My plans are always tailored to the client’s goals and needs, empowering them to achieve the best version of them self
Since I was eight years old, I have been an avid tennis player and have been coaching tennis at a professional level for four years, training a range of abilities and ages
My personal training sessions are enthused with my bubbly personality and my goal is make you want to love life I enjoy every aspect of general health and fitness and can give anyone the confidence they need to succeed
Having had a significant weight loss journey, I have gained a real insight into the challenges of establishing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle I have gained an inside knowledge to the benefits of exercise both physically and mentally – you never regret a workout! From being a size 22 and weighing 16 stone, I have successfully lost and maintained over 6 stone and my dress size is now a size 8 to 10. I wanted to feel better about myself and learn about food and planning
It’s now my passion to share this knowledge making exercise fun and simple, to give an easy exercise experience.
Our course is currently in excellent condition, thanks to the tireless efforts of our dedicated grounds crew. From the perfectly manicured fairways with new definition to the lightningfast greens that will be achievable and available this year, you will find our course to be both challenging and enjoyable. The layout of our course sets it above and apart from others in the region.
We have an exciting calendar of events planned for the season, including tournaments, clinics, and social gatherings Whether you are a seasoned pro or just getting started, there will be plenty of opportunities to hone your skills and connect with fellow golf enthusiasts.

2023 has got off to a tragic start with the unexpected passing of our good friend Trevor Kimber. Trevor was such an asset to Cambridge Country Club working in the Pro Shop and managing our cohort of Marshalls The General Committee will be holding a competition on Friday 7th April in memory of Trevor which will be open to all classes of members to enter.
Last month I advised that the Greens Committee have had a number of discussions with Cambridge Country Club about Winter Management of the course, renovation of the greens and programme of work for 2023. As a result of these discussions the major focus for work to the course in 2023 will be the renovation of all greens and tees. The finalised 2023 Workplan has been sent out to all Members with progress on the plan to be monitored by the Greens Committee over the coming months
As part of this plan all greens have white and yellow posts in front to minimise trolley and pedestrian traffic and preserve the aprons during winter months –MEMBERS PLEASE ENSURE NO TROLLIES or BUGGIES GO BEYOND these markers
As part of improving the presentation of the course the footpath in front of the clubhouse terrace and to the bridge over the brook on the 1st will be completed during the course of the next month weather permitting.
I would also remind Members that Cambridge Country Club will NOT BE INCREASING Golf Members Subscriptions for the period April 2023 – March 2024
The POETS 9-hole Friday evening mixed Stableford competition will restart from 14th April through to end of September details of which will be advised by the Men’s Section
A new summer League team competition is to start from April through to September on midweek evenings. Details to follow from Trevor Peer Men’s Vice Captain who is championing this competition
Last but not least the New Season Opening Day Competition is being held on Saturday 1st April which is open to all classes of Members to enter. If you have not signed up for the first major event of the year, please sign up now
A reminder to Members that if you want to enter competitions in 2023, please ensure your privacy settings on ESP/HDID are set to enable your contact details to be visible.
Sincerely,
Colin Hurst COMMITTEE CHAIRMen's friendly matches begin Mixed friendly matches begin

With spring around the corner, we have been busy preparing the course to define all the areas of play
I have also started to overseed the greens that were affected badly from disease going into winter, I hope to get a good take up from the seed and will overseed all the greens again, once the weather warms up.
During February we have managed to finish off the fairway vertidraining this will encourage the roots to grow on the fairways and give us better grass coverage in the future. Unfortunately the last couple of fairways we had to finish got rained on before we could tidy them up, and this caused excess mud We had two choices- either get them done now, or wait until we had better weather, which could have taken us into the growing season and meant we would be too busy to complete them
So for a few days we had some muddy fairways, which now I can say are recovering well and will have good coverage for the season
We have primed up the irrigation system ready for any hot weather that Mother Nature has to throw at us this year I have also been teaching our two new greenkeepers how to look after and repair the system so we can keep it running and keep the greens in good order
Me and the team are excited for the golf season and showcasing this fantastic course in its full glory this year
Sincerely,
Simon Head Greenkeeper1961-2023
