He oversees safety protocols across multiple sites, including four Georgia Pacific locations, while driving operational success. Spotlight on Lowell Warehouse
Located at 141 Robins St, Lowell, NC 28098, this warehouse handles a wide range of operations, including distribution, warehousing, kitting, pallet building, crating, and order fulfillment. The in-house accounting department helps optimize cost-reduction and resource management, making the facility highly efficient. Every day offers a new opportunity for learning as the team meets the evolving needs of its clients.
Our Clients and Services
The Lowell Warehouse serves clients like Value Vinyl’s, Nippon (Caterpillar and John Deere), Max Ability, Glove Box, Midrex, and Papi Queso Restaurant. It handles diverse products, from vinyl rolls to machinery parts and food containers. Recent milestones include expanding order fulfillment and excelling in specialty pallet building.
Team and Culture
Teamwork is central to Lowell's success. Key team members like Ian Mobley, Rodney Adams, Matt Ghantt, Logan Walton, and Zack Haught have greatly improved safety and efficiency. Rodney Adams, in particular, bridges communication between customers and the warehouse team, ensuring smooth operations.
Safety and Efficiency Initiatives
The safety board and safety monitors collaborate with BWT’s safety committee, enhancing safety awareness. The scanner and inventory system first implemented here continue to be improved for better accuracy and efficiency.
Looking Ahead
The facility is planning improvements to further enhance its efficiency, including the potential sectioning of climate-controlled areas. These enhancements will help the team continue to exceed client expectations and remain a key player in BWT Logistics' overall operations.
A Day in the Life at Lowell Warehouse
The workday at Lowell starts at 8:00 AM and typically ends at 4:30 PM, with the occasional need for special overtime projects. The warehouse team begins the day with a group discussion to plan the day’s activities. The management team attends a morning tactical meeting to address any needs or concerns. In the mornings, inbound shipments are received and scanned into warehouse locations, while outbound pulls and loading are handled in the afternoons. Certain customers require custombuilt crates or pallet supports, which are assembled at the time of their orders.
What the Team Enjoys Most
The value of teamwork and communication fosters a close-knit community among the employees. They describe the work environment as more like a trusted family than just a workplace. The wide range of projects handled at the Lowell Warehouse ensures that every day is different, keeping the team engaged and motivated.
Supporting BWT Logistics' Mission and Values
At Lowell, the team follows the 5-S philosophy and Kaizen principles, which guide their efforts in maintaining productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The warehouse is also the birthplace of the software system currently in use across many of BWT’s facilities, further solidifying its role in innovation and continuous improvement.
Clients and Products
The Lowell facility supports clients such as Nippon (handling parts for Caterpillar and John Deere), Value Vinyl’s (handling rolls of vinyl and preparing custom pallets for shipping), Max Ability (handling changing tables and building pallets for shipment), Glove Box (pick/pack order fulfillment of gloves), Midrex (cratebuilding operations), and Papi Queso Restaurant (handling containers for sandwiches and cups). This diverse portfolio of clients speaks to the flexibility and capabilities of the Lowell Warehouse.
