Spotlight: World Mental Health Day
As a company, we recognize the critical importance of mental health and the impact it has on both our personal and professional lives. This October 10th, we proudly observe World Mental Health Day, joining the global effort to raise awareness and promote mental well-being.
Why Mental Health Matters: Mental health affects how we handle stress, relate to others, and make decisions. Prioritizing mental well-being helps create a supportive, positive work environment where everyone can thrive.
What You Can Do:
Take Time for Yourself: A short break to clear your mind can make a big difference. Step away from your tasks, take a deep breath, or go for a walk to recharge. Start the Conversation: It’s okay to talk about how you’re feeling. Reach out to a trusted colleague or friend for support when needed.
Practice Self-care: Engage in activities that bring you peace and reduce stress, such as exercising, reading, or spending time with loved ones.

Congratulations to David Washington!
David Washington has been an exceptional member of the BWT Logistics team since April 2021. As a Dock Worker on the 1st Shift, David consistently demonstrates excellence in his role, particularly as the order picker for Lubrizol, where he manages orders with a remarkable 99.9% accuracy rate. His attention to detail ensures that all materials are accurately pulled and stored.
David’s commitment to safety is evident in his proactive approach to keeping his work area free of debris and ensuring proper forklift operations at all times. His teamwork and willingness to assist others without being asked contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
David also takes initiative, especially when managing space constraints. He finds safe, efficient ways to store materials when the warehouse is full, showcasing his problemsolving skills and resourcefulness.
Reliability is another of David’s strong suits—he is consistently on time, ready to start his shift promptly, and rarely takes time off. His dedication extends to customer service, where he goes the extra mile by wiping down drums and totes to ensure they are clean before shipping, even though it requires extra time.
David’s hard work, dedication, and pride in his role make him truly deserving of Employee of the Month.

SAFETY

Essential First Aid Skills for the Workplace
At BWT, safety is our top priority. Knowing basic first aid skills can be the difference between life and death. These life-saving techniques are straightforward to learn and invaluable during emergencies. Let’s dive into the essentials:
1. CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

When someone’s heart stops, CPR is crucial. It keeps oxygen and blood circulating, buying precious time until professional help arrives. Remember: 30 chest compressions followed by 2 rescue breaths.
2. Heimlich Maneuver
If someone is choking, the Heimlich Maneuver can clear their airway. Stand behind the person, wrap your arms around their waist, and give quick, upward thrusts just above the navel.
3. Stop Bleeding
To prevent major blood loss, apply firm pressure to the wound with a clean cloth. If the bleeding is severe, use a tourniquet above the injury site. Stay calm and act quickly.
4. Set a Splint
For broken bones, a splint can stabilize the injury, minimize pain, and prevent further damage. Use a rigid object (like a board) and secure it with cloth or bandages. Keep the injured limb immobile.
5. Identify Concussions
Watch for signs of a concussion, such as dizziness, confusion, or disorientation. If you suspect a concussion, ensure the person rests and seeks medical attention. Early detection is key to avoiding long-term brain damage. First Aid Download
