ALL EYES ON PHILLIP LEE

The busiest stretch of the year hits between June and September, bringing increased volume and tighter deadlines. Despite challenges like high traffic and late appointment schedules, the site stays on track through daily safety inspections, routine cleaning, and strong leadership that believes in training through action. The culture here is one of adaptability and accountability where managers lead by example and take time to check in on employees’ well-being.
Tucked just across the street from a local police station, our Phillip Lee Road location in Atlanta is a lean, high-performing site making big moves for BWT. With a team of just five employees—including two Lift Truck Operators (Greg and Brian) this facility handles operations with focus, precision, and grit. The team specializes in offloading lumber, both inside and outside the facility, using forklifts and standard office equipment to keep things running efficiently.

THE STANDARD IS PHILLIP LEE

A recent move from the Great Southwest warehouse showed just how tight-knit and dependable this team is—they extended hours and pulled together to meet critical deadlines with no disruption to service. Lunch huddles, volume reviews, and open communication create an environment where people feel supported and empowered to deliver.
Since opening, this location has relocated four major customers into the facility and is currently handling products for six in total. Plans are underway to upgrade fencing and continue improvements after a recent repaving of the property. Looking forward, the team is focused on accuracy, efficiency, and contributing to BWT’s continued expansion in the Atlanta market—a market that’s long served as a gateway for bringing in new business and building customer loyalty.
At Phillip Lee Road, being reliable, flexible, and customer-focused isn’t just a goal—it’s the standard.

WELLNESS & SELF-CARE
Digital Detox Challenge – One Day a Week in July
Unplug to recharge. Reset your mind. Reconnect with real life.
Every week this July, we’re inviting all BWT team members to participate in a Digital Detox Challenge by picking one day to limit non-work screen time after hours. That means no scrolling, streaming, or swiping—just being present..
Why It Matters
Too much screen time can:
Disrupt sleep
Increase stress and anxiety
Affect your ability to focus
Lower your mood and motivation

Unplugging—even briefly—helps your mental clarity, creativity, and overall well-being.
How to Participate
Choose one evening each week in July to do a digital detox after your shift. Instead of phones, TV, or gaming, try:
Going for a walk without earbuds
Calling a family member or friend
Writing in a journal or gratitude notebook
Cooking a new meal
Doing absolutely nothing (and enjoying it)
Breakroom Conversation Starter
Disconnect to Reconnect – What did you do with your screen-free time?
Use this as a table tent, screen slide, or poster prompt. Encourage employees to share their experience verbally or via sticky notes on a “Digital Detox Wall” in the breakroom.
Putting It Into Action
Use these points to frame your July Digital Detox Challenge:
Just 30 Minutes Can Help
Even short, weekly screen-free breaks can lead to measurable benefits—better sleep, clearer thinking, and reduced stress.
Stress & Anxiety Reduction
Unplugging helps lower cortisol levels and calm the nervous system—a key health benefit for busy teams.
Real Relationship
Wins
Stronger personal connections start when we trade screen time for real-time conversations, walks, and creativity.

WORKPLACE WISDOM
Mid-Year, Full Focus
July marks the halfway point in the year—an ideal time to reflect, reset, and refocus. Whether you’re meeting production goals or personal goals, stay aligned with your purpose and pace yourself for the rest of the year.
Quick Wisdom for the Month:
1. Recharge to Perform
Taking your full break isn’t slacking—it’s smart. A rested mind works safer, sharper, and stronger.
2. Show Up for the Team
Summer absences can stretch teams thin. When you’re consistent and dependable, you set the tone for professionalism and respect.
3. Speak Up, Not Around
Clear, direct communication prevents conflict and builds trust. Don’t assume—ask.
4. Keep the Energy Positive
Busy seasons can bring tension. Be the one who brings solutions, not more stress.
5. Finish Strong
Don’t coast through summer. Push through distractions, stay accountable, and finish each day with purpose.
Lead by Listening
Bonus Tips
You don’t need a title to lead. You just need to listen. When you take time to hear what others are saying (or not saying), you build stronger teams and avoid misunderstandings.
Professional Growth Doesn’t Take a Summer Break
Is there one small skill you can sharpen this month?
Whether it’s learning a new system, cross-training, or improving how you handle conflict—growth happens in the day-to-day.
Respect the Process, Even When It’s Slow
Every team has systems, and every system has a reason. Even if things feel delayed, stay consistent. Doing it right the first time saves more time than doing it over.
Quote of the Month
"Excellence is not a skill. It is an attitude."
