CW GAME – UNDER 14.2 GIRLS

COACHES CORNER – PREVIEW FROM THE COACH

Welcome back to EDSC for our fifth home game of the season following two wins on the road for the Youth League Women.
Last week, our group was able to fight through a sloppy first half and take the win over McKinnon, for the second time this season. One of our bottom-age U18 players, Mia Tamburrini stepped up and contributed 16 points, whilst Alexya Charalambous proved size is no excuse, contributing 9 rebounds.
With now 9 games, and 8 wins under our belts, the next new challenge is leveling up our game each week to ensure we continue with this great winning streak!
This afternoon, we welcome the unbeaten Camberwell Dragons, who we expect will be a very tough, mature opposition. We have not yet played the Dragons, so will be great to challenge a new opposition.
Will be looking forward to see the likes of Hannah Ronan-Black, Felicity Warrell and Jasmine McKenzie leading with maturity from the front this week!
As always, thanks for your support, we hope you enjoy the afternoon. Bring the energy!

COACHES CORNER – PREVIEW FROM THE COACH
We’re very excited to have your support for this week’s very difficult game against Camberwell, which is arguably the best team in the division.
The Dragons played without their best player, Jackson Dean, in the last round and lost a home game to Geelong so they will be coming to EDSC with a point to prove when they suit up against us. While Dean is a top-3 player in the division, he is not the only one Camberwell turns to.
In Sam Veitch and Matthew Power, Camberwell has two proven leaders who are among the league’s best players in their respective positions; players like Conor Matthews and Hugo Bergamin are also very valuable as they bring a lot of shooting ability to the table, giving the Dragons a lot of firepower offensively.

Camberwell features a very experienced roster that has developed chemistry on the court through the years; they are 5th on the ladder with 6 wins in 9 games, but we must not forget that, for the bigger part, it’s the same team that went undefeated in the home-and-away season last year, which is a testament to the Dragons’ quality and ability to win games.
As far as our team goes, we also lost a home game last week against Keysborough and we want to come back to winning ways, knowing full well we have our work cut out for us.
Simply put, we know being 7th on the ladder is not good enough and we will do whatever it takes to climb to the top-4; your presence, voice and support will play a big part in helping the boys push themselves and we hope to give our fans plenty to cheer about at EDSC. Our big advantage is the depth of our roster and that’s what we will look to utilise in our effort to beat Camberwell.
As always, the key ingredients that will be vital in securing a win will be good defence, intensity, effort, ball movement and control of the boards, which will lead to us controlling the tempo of the game. We must work hard to minimise our turnovers and make sure we don’t allow Camberwell to score easy points in transition; we know they’re a great defensive unit and they will look to capitalise on every mistake we make, so we have to be ready for that.
We want our supporters to be loud, create an electric atmosphere and push the Boomers to victory. On our end, we promise to bring intensity and to do our absolute best, knowing that nothing less than our 100% can ever be good enough against a strong opponent of Camberwell’s calibre.

COACHES CORNER – PREVIEW FROM THE COACH

This week the Championship Women host the talented Camberwell Dragons. This will be the second time the teams have faced, with the Boomers securing the hard fought win 84-75. In that game, Camberwell scored by committee with five players all reaching double figures. For the home squad, the Boomers were led by Emily Matezos (29 pts - 7rbs - 5 ast), Olivia Bontempelli (21pts - 6 rbs - 3 ast) and Catelyn Van Es (16 pts - 12 rebs - 7 OReb).
The Camberwell Dragons are led by Bulleen junior Gemma Fyffe (10 ppg) and Samatha Labros (12 ppg) and are coached by Michael Dimattina who leads a very well drilled and disciplined unit.
To be successful this week, the Boomers must continue to play unselfish basketball (currently assisting on 91% of all made baskets) and playing tough on defence to disrupt the Dragon's efficient offence.
Last week, the Boomers secured two wins against a revamped Sunbury Jets unit in an offensive track meet, and against 4th place McKinnon to remain 2nd on the ladder at 8-1 on the season.

Welcome back to EDSC for our sixth home game of the season following two wins on the road for the Youth League Women.

With now 10 games played, the next new challenge is levelling up our game each week to ensure we continue to develop through the second half of the season!
Today, we welcome the unbeaten Eltham Wildcats, who we know will be a very tough opposition.
After losing by 7pts to the Wildcats in Round 3, we will be looking to bounce back after a hard game against Camberwell last night, and even the ledger today.
As always, thanks for your support, we hope you enjoy the day. Bring the energy!
