We welcome the players, coaches and families from the following teams who will actively participate in the BIG V Game experience tonight!
Hi Boomers fans and welcome to our YLM game tonight.
Last week we had a win on the road down at Altona. It was a feisty game and we ended up getting the win. We had a great team effort with everyone contributing on the floor.
Tonight, we play top of the table McKinnon. They have lost only once this season and are playing very well at both ends of the floor.
We played them down at their place a few weeks ago and they got the win, so we’re going to try and reverse that result tonight.
Thanks again to all the sponsors & fans for all your support.
Cheer loud & Go Boomers!!
Welcome to the game, tonight marks the halfway point in our season and it’s been pleasing to find ourselves positioned nicely to make a run in the backend of the year having beaten everyone below except Altona who we are yet to play for the season. The next two weeks are important going into the break as we look to solidify our current position and continue evolving.
Last week we hosted Gippsland for our second meeting of the season and jumped out to a fast start holding a 15pt lead at halftime before they made it a real dogfight in the third and scores were tied going into the final quarter. In the last, we established a double-digit lead behind Andrew Noller’s continuing solid form, and with four guys in double figures, the shared load again was crucial to an eight point win.
Tonight’s match-up sees second-placed Whittlesea arrive coming off an interesting fortnight where they lost to bottom side Warrnambool and then defeated top-placed RMIT. Having made the jump from Division 2 in the off-season a lot can be said for roster continuity in their success as they have a local core who have for the most part been long-term contributors to their program and added an import to give a legitimate scoring punch.
They are led by import Meekness Payne (26 3ppg) who is a versatile four man shooting the three ball at just under 40% on volume attempts and Patrick Green (16.9ppg) has been consistent also shooting 42% from three. They are the team that hunts the offensive glass and plays an up tempo style attempting a league-most 34.8 three-point attempts each game which will be a matchup of contrasting styles.
To all our fans we appreciate your support, I hope you enjoy the night and spread the word as we would love to pack out EDSC throughout the season.
