IHPA Palm Springs Convention To Have New Look

Meeting February 7, 8 and 9 at Desi Arnaz Indian Wells Hotel in Palm Springs, members of Imported Hardwood Plywood Association will be treated to some new ideas in annual meetings.

States Association managing secretary Gorden D. Ingraham, "Our convention committee is arranging a new forhat for the annual membership meeting, with new innovations to make this meeting still more attractive and interesting to the associate as well as the regular msrnfgl5-and to provide a dynamic meeting, with selected speakers on topics interesting to all members.

Meetings will open at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and will be open to both regular and assclciate members during the entire period, except for Wednesday afternoon which is reserved for the election of directors and officers by the regular members.

On Thursday morning the special committee chairmen of each industry group will present a report with recommendations by his industry group.

The Lumber Merchants Association of Northern California and The Lumber Dealers Research Council will cosponsor-a two and one-half day component management and sales__clinic, to be held January 18, 19 and, 20 it the Jack Tar Hotel. San Francisco.

The two and one-half day study. which is a condensed version of the ten-day Lu-Re-Co-Sales and Management Institute held at the University of Illinois, will presenl ideas on new dimensions in financing, land development, components and construction techniques.

Harvey, Professor of Finance, Land Economist in charge of Real Estate, College and Commerce, lJniversity of Illinois; and Clarence A. Thompson, Past President, LuRe-Co, officer and director of four lumber companies and land development-companies.

The first registrant fee rvill be $125.00 with $75.00 for additional registrants. This includes luncheons on Thursday and Friday, cocktail party and dinner on Friday evening, coftee breaks, and text materials kits and instructors' expenses.

Cqmeron Worren Joins Moore Dry Kiln Gompony

The appointment of ,Cameron J. Warren as Production Manager and Assistant to the President has been announced by Willard R. Kelley, president of Moore Dry Kiln Company, North Portland; Oregon.

Warren is rvell known to lumbermen in the Inland Empire, having been associated for a number of years with Intermountain Lumber Company, Missoula, Montana, where he started in the logging camp and sawmill, progressing to vice-president in charge of operations. He remains a director of Intermountain Lumber Company.

Kelley states Warren brings to Moore Dry Kiln Company practical knowledge of the mill owners' needs, and rvith his extensive experience in mill operations the quality of service and dependability on which Moore Dry Kiln Company has been built over the years will now be even further improved.

In his new duties, Warren will have charge of engineering and manufacturing of lumber dry kilns, veneer, gypsum, and softboard dryers, lumber handling equipment, hardboard and heat treating equipment, and other special forest product items manufactured by Moore.

United Lumber Yards is currently completing an expansion of its facilities at Empire, California, including construction of a new 24' x 7e warehouse for better handling and storage. In addition, UNY has doubled the size of the existing showroom for better all 'round merchandising. In line with a recent expansion in merchandising policy, United Lumber Yards has added a complete line of plumbing and electrical supplies at each of its branch operations. The new Empire branch, scheduled for completion by the lst of February, is managed by Curtis Fink.
