sick, for lack of a reasonable volunre on which to operate, and in a complete coma in so far as thinking of the profit part of business.

Could it be that a re-establishment of channels of distribution should be made along the lines of dealer and wholesale distribution ? That the businesses that have been set up in certain localities solely as a FENCE to dispose of materials for the MA N U FA C'JlLr R E, R and / or WHOLtrSALER at ruinous prices for the industry, should be discontinuecl in the hopes of discovering an avenue to a profitable distribution for the in- dustry? Or perhaps, as I view the situation, that we should CALL IT A DAY, CLOSE UP SHOP, lay off the loyal enrployees, and hope that a business of which we are proud, whcn placed on the auction block will produce sufficient money to take us to the end of an old lumberrnen's journey?

I'll end my conrnrents by believing there nrust be a few in our industry that are looking to an alternative othcr than TAXES and DEATH.

Sincerely, "Larry" King, King-tr{arshall Lumber Co., Inc. Bakersfield, Calif.
