House Captain and Deputy House Captain
HOUSE CAPTAIN AND DEPUTY HOUSE CAPTAINS RESPONSIBILITIES
The House Officers are chosen because of their leadership qualities, their ability to work as part as a team, their sense of responsibility and their reliability.
The House Officers are role models for the rest of the House and the other boarders should look to them for guidance and advice.
As a House Officer, they need to be able to motivate other boarders in the House, organise various House activities and ensure that they work well with the rest of the Year. House Captains need to involve people in discussion and planning and work as part of the team but be able to make decisions and carry them through after consultation.
THEY WILL BE EXPECTED TO:
Make themselves known to all members of the House and take a prominent role in House functions, e.g. House outings, parties, helping new boarders settle in etc. Be able to encourage the members of the House to be actively involved in House and School activities. Assist with the House Committee, ensuring it meets once per half-term and the minutes displayed clearly. Be prepared to speak to the House when required. Be able to lead or assist in House Assemblies, School Assemblies and Chapel services. Be prepared to attend evening functions as required and to assist with the induction of new boarders in September. Set a high standard by their own behaviour and standard of dress. Ensure their House feelings and ideas are represented at School Council meetings, attending themselves if required. They should canvass the House for ideas and opinions before / after attending such meetings. Be approachable and to make sure they know all of the boarders in the House. Keep an eye out for any incidents such as bullying or damage and report them to the Houseparents. Assist the Houseparents with administration and duties as appropriate. Meet regularly with Houseparents to discuss House matters. Organise and follow a rota for kitchen duties. Be flexible.
