GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE BOARDING HOUSE

BOARDING HOUSEPARENT AND HEAD OF HOUSE When you are in school your Head of House will be in charge of you and oversee your academic work, university and subject choices and be a contact point during the day. Your Houseparent takes care of you after school and at the weekends.

ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES Owing to fire and safety regulations, great care is taken with all electrical appliances. Only three pin extension leads may be used and they should be switched off at the socket when not in use. No electric cooking may be done in your studies. Heaters must not be left on in your rooms when you are out at school.

CONTACTING HOME Making contact to parents, guardians or friends You may make contact with your parents via skype, e-mail or by other electronic methods. If required the school will facilitate you being able to make contact in private. POCKET MONEY Most boarders prefer to manage their own pocket money through banks and building societies. Berkhamsted High Street offers a good choice with excellent access. However, should you prefer to have the houseparent look after pocket money, this is easily arranged. Petty cash is available for most emergencies.

ROOMS AND STUDY FACILITIES Typically, two of you share a study bedroom and you are responsible for its tidiness and your own property. Boarders may not enter another pupil’s room unless s/he is present. Computers with internet access are also available on the ground floor. If you choose, you may bring your own computer or laptop from home, but private insurance will need to be arranged by your parents.

VALUABLES You all have your own lockable boxes or drawers in your bedroom to keep valuables secure. Your Houseparent will always look after passports and flight tickets as requested.
