As I work on writing this intro I find myself glancing at the pale blue Puget Sound skies and the wonderfully lush spring green colors as a backdrop to the glistening waters of Lake Washington – which doesn’t make it easy to focus on my writing!
I do believe that the old saying that “hope springs eternal” (from Alexander Pope’s 1732 poem, An Essay on Man), can be applied to not only mankind, but also to the Spring season locally! After a long, damp Puget Sound fall/winter, the longer days and blossoming trees & shrubs and the appearance of a few sun-filled days in late springas we are on the cusp of another summer - always seems so hopeful!
While current 30 year home mortgage interest rates have continued to hover around 7% for the past 18 months, the US stock markets have experienced a significant rally over the past 6 months, which has helped the local real estate market to also rally. Median prices in King County are almost identical to 2022, and considerably higher than they were at this time in 2023.
From Kirkland to Husky Stadium, closed North Lake Washington waterfront sales seem to also be beginning to rebound with 18 closed single family waterfront sales already in 2024.
Based on the numbers above, it would appear that we are poised to see both the Puget Sound real estate market in general, and the North Lake Washington waterfront market in particular continue at least a modest resurgence in 2024.
As always, I continue to refer a number of quality vendors to my fellow area homeowners and remain committed to continuing to do so. Feel free to reach out any time you are interested in getting some wonderful contacts for upcoming projects around your home.
I hope you enjoy this summer edition of my magazine – there are a number of interesting properties and some terrific sections on the upcoming Summer Olympics, Washington trails and hikes, home design & style trends, and Lake Washington boating activities.
Lastly, I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable summer 2024 – hopefully you will make time to experience a multitude of outdoor activities this wonderful area has to offer!
