The musical showcase further highlighted the diversity within our school, capturing both new and familiar talents and offering a platform for our pupils to shine. Brighton’s Got Talent, one of my personal favourites, was a testament to the incredibleimpactthatabitofconfidencecanhave.

It features outstanding acting, powerful singing andfeistychoreography, aidedbytheincrediblesetcreatedbythe Art and DT department. The P.A Team have raised the bar yet again, with their creativity and vision for this magnificent show. Audiences can attest to the immersive experience of watching the plant come to life, alongside the Senior-School talent, featuring; Jamie Angus as the vulnerable yet loveable Seymour, giving a performance beyond his years and demonstrating how his remarkable triple threat (acting, singing and dancing) talent was perfect for this challenging starring role. Playing his leading lady, Linda Gong as the tragically sweet Audrey, gave a beautiful and compelling performance, making a wonderful leading lady. The characterisation of Mr and Mrs Mushnik was played to perfection withexcellentcomictimingbyJustinWestobyandScarletCantwell who lit up the stage. Kotaro Yoshizawa made his stunning BCB debutroleasOrintheDentist, givingamemorable andall-encompassingperformanceasoneofthisplay’swicked antagonists. The skillfully made plants representing ‘Audrey II’ in a variety of sizes were played fabulously, by Jason Lin and Pete Reungrongrat. They both brought pizazz and a dynamic vocal performance to the show stopping Motown- style soundtrack. The lead roles were complimented by the ‘Skid Kids’, keeping the fast-paced storyline moving seamlessly with theirtalentandconfidence.Thestrengthofthechorusandthe show was a level above your average school performance, because of their focus, engagement and exciting stagecraft. Each member of the cast from ages 11-18 had clearly shown dedication and drive throughout the rehearsal process, and all deserve to be commended for stepping on our theatre stage with confidence and passion.. A truly unforgettable experience presented by the school’s outstanding Performing Arts Department.Andalwaysremember:Don’tfeedtheplants!

It has been a groundbreaking year in the Sixth Form, with a record number of university offers and acceptances to universities across the globe. We are so proud of all of our SixthFormPupils.Fromshowcasingactingandsingingtalents in the Little Shop of Horrors production, to many of our pupils winning trophies at the Sports Awards, all of our pupils have contributed to the school community in some way this year. It has been wonderful watching the Sixth Form grow in number this year and seeing our Year 12 and Year 13 pupils make lasting friendships. A particular highlight of the year was the UK trip, watching our Year 12 pupils explore Brighton and see what culture in the UK is like. In addition, joining our Year 13 pupils in celebrating their successes with their family and friends at our Graduation Ceremony in June was truly memorable. I would like to take the time to wish our Year 13 pupilsgoodluckwiththenewlifetheyareabouttoembarkon, as well as congratulate our Year 12 pupils on successfully completing their first year of Sixth Form and taking their AS Levels. We look forward to welcoming you back in the new academicyear.

This year's Chinese New Year celebration at BCB, in warm collaboration with the Confucius Institute of Chulalongkorn University, was a vibrant and joyous community event celebrating cultural inclusivity. Pupils enthusiastically participated in over 20 cultural activities, including lantern making, movable-type printing, and a fun chopsticks competition. Parents joined in the festivities with a hands-on dumpling-making workshop, adding a delightful culinary flair.
Spooky Science' was the theme for our Science celebrations this year. Pupils across both Senior and Preparatory Schools were invited to attend a range of wonderful, bloodcurdling activities from dissecting frogs and eyes to making gooey slime. A magical, mystical alchemy session, together with an exciting showcase of explosive Chemistry, gave the pupils much to ponder. In the Preparatory School, our young scientists were treated to an exciting mid-week Liquid Nitrogen Show, in addition to lots of lunchtime Roboticsfun. This year's "Fit-Chester" week saw pupils rowing, cycling, dancing, and meditating their way to better physical and mental health. At lunchtimes pupils took up the challenge of cycling and rowing as far as they could in one minute on machines in the hopes of having their house declared the fittest.Pupilsalsoputtheiragility, coordination, andstamina to the test in a series of fiendish but fun mini-games in the sports hall. Hampden Week
This year’s Hampden Week was a resounding success, displayingtheverybestofourcommunity.Withtheaim of raising awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals and empowering our school community to make positive change, Hampden’s ‘Humble Week’ was a brilliantreminderofthepowerinworkingtogether.
Preparatory and Senior School came together to organise joint events, such as our Walk for Water, raising awareness of the lack of safe and accessible water around the world. Each pupil in the school decorated a flower made from recycled bottle caps to createawholeschoolpieceofartdisplayingcommunity spirit. Our Eco Team Representatives became the teachers in one of their lessons - teaching their classes about the importance of sustainable practices, creating impressive infographics about topical issues and displaying the opportunities for pupil leadership. WhatanamazingtimeeveryonehadwithFenwickFollies.Itwas pandemonium... organised chaos! Wow... 54 activities over the week. It was fabulous to have so many pupils and teachers having fun with our silly competition activities, where everyone could participate irrespective of their personal strengths. What made it particularly special was having prep and senior pupils competingsidebysideeverygame.
Ryle Week Ryle Week
It was fantastic to see the children enjoying our theme of 'A Ryley Long Time Ago' during Ryle House week. The pupils had such a wonderful time doing a variety of exciting activities and working as a team. In the Preparatory School they participated in a lively disco, retro gaming and other classic 80s games. In Senior school the children ventured back even further, enjoying jousting and other engaging medieval activities. The festivities brought together a vibrant mix of nostalgia and contemporary entertainment, creating a dynamic and enjoyable atmosphere for all participants. The diverse range of activities ensured there was something for everyone to enjoy, fostering a sense of community spirit within Ryle House.Whatatrulyunforgettableweek!
It was a very busy week in the senior school during Humanities Week. Our theme this year was broad, encouraging pupils to reflect on their place in the world and the positive impacts they can have on it. Year 7 and 8 pupils tookpartinaTradingGame, agroupbasedchallengewhere countries trade, compete and negotiate within a deliberately unfair game, reflecting the real life challenges of many countries globally. Our Year 10 Business pupils have been busy creating their own businesses as part of a 500THB challenge.Theywerechallengedtocreateanethicalproduct which would also raise the most profit, with all proceeds going to Bangkok Community Help Project. These entrepreneurs had to pitch their businesses to teachers in a ‘shark tank’ and ran two lunchtime market stall events. A group of Y9 pupils were able to see first hand the great work this charity does in Bangkok when they volunteered to make and distribute 500 meals for the homeless and poor around Ratchadamnoen Avenue. In tutor time, pupils had daily psychology challenges and were able to win house points in two challenging history activities. House points were also keenly fought over during three lunchtime Geogessr competitions. Finally, throughout the week we have also encouraged pupils to think more of others and spread ‘randomactsofkindness’.Allinall, abusybutveryrewarding HumanitiesWeekforallourpupilsintheseniorschool.

This year’s English week saw pupils engage in a range of activities. In additiontomorningchallenges,pupilsalsoparticipatedinaschool-wide book swap and enjoyed a virtual author visit from Matt Killeen. The highlight of the week was our inter-house debate where pupils represented their houses during lunchtime heats, culminating in a close final during assembly. It was also fantastic to see so many pupils and staff participate in World Book Day by coming to school as their favouritebookcharacter.
