Quentin Derouet lives in Paris and in the South of France.

Born in 1988, he graduated from Arson Villa in 2012 with high distinction from the Jury and the price of City of Nice rewarding his magistral and minimal gesture: the trace, on a wall, of a crushed rose.

the

only

important characteristic was to be able to leave the most beautiful trace when we crush it. He then started to develop paintings with the most primitive trace, to the parietal painting and always constantly questioning the contemporary art. He now has his own rose plantation in the South of France and produce his artworks following the harvesting time.

He exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art of Saint-Etienne, au Museum of Modern Art of Nice, au Kunst Merano Art in Italy as well as the Villa Arson.

MARIA LUIS HERNANDEZ b. 1966, Santiago, Chile.

Maria lives and works in London.

She gained a Masters’ Degree in Fine Art at the University of Chile and in 1998, won an award from the Foreign Office of Chile to exhibit her art in Stockholm, which was the European cultural capital that year.

She

travelled

in

Europe

widely.

Coming from the New World she was finally able to witness in person, the great Masters use of light; namely Leonardo Da Vinci, Rembrandt and Turner. She was so intrigued by the culture and possibilities for her art, that she moved to London, where she studied at The Royal Drawing School.

Maria

Luisa

has

exhibited

in

art

galleries and art shows in London and was nominated into the Courvoisier Future 500 Network sponsored by The Observer. Her work is held in private and corporate collections around the world. Maria Luisa divides her time painting between the vibrant culture of London and the raw inspiration that emanates from the ocean.

HOPARE b. 1989, France.

French artist, Hopare since his first graffiti 15 years ago on the walls of Limours, he has forged a very strong graphic identity and embarked on a deeply humanist journey.

Emerging from strong contrasts of colours, his dreamlike portraits are structured by dynamic black lines, the artist’s trademark, which give his works their futuristic look. Yet, the faces of his work do exist they are Hopare’s way to pay tribute to the people he meets in the course of his travels.

His entire process is therefore rooted in a humanistic approach, reminding us of the importance of respect and exchange, but also of the fight for equality and

justice. Although,

he

does not intend to be political, his works have a powerful social and political resonance. In 2019, he was commissioned to do a 1,000m2 mural in Atlanta for the Super Bowl. He will

JOHAN VAN MULLEM b. 1959

Johan Van Mullem was born in Congo in 1959 to Belgian parents. He grew up moving around the world as a result of

his

parents

postings, including a seven years stay in Tunisia. Johan has always been an autodidact. He started drawing at the age of five and never stopped since then, same as his father and GrandFather. His family roots are in the City of Bruges. Johan studied Architecture in Brussels.

Later

exploring

Etching and Painting. Today he paints with Etching Ink; he is probably one of the only Artists using this medium.

His paintings are in major private collections and Museum collections throughout Europe. He has held solo exhibitions in Art Galleries located in London, Paris, New York and Brussels.

investigates questions of identity and epistemology. Describing his paintings as depicting ‘internal fights’, he seeks to represent a double-consciousness: one formed through the intellect and one instigated through the physical experience of the Black body. Elements of urban culture create a map of aesthetical values that have informed the artist’s practice.

Eberhard Ross lives in Germany.

He is an abstract painter. Forty years ago, when he bought his first record of Keith Jarrett and a small book, Zen in the Art of Archery by the German philosopher,

Eugen

Herrigel,

he

under-estimated the profound and unexpected impact these writings and music would have on me and my work.

He looks for the sound of colours. He tries to paint sound.

Over the years, his work developed and the meaning of the space between, the meaning of the “breaks” became increasingly

important.

The

solo

improvisations of Jarrett are dedicated to

the

sound

and

mainly to

the

moments of silence when a tone can sound. So, it is the change into the silence, the change between fullness and emptiness which makes this music so powerful.

Julien Saudubray lives and works in Brussels, Belgium.

Graduated from les Beaux Arts de Paris in 2012, the artist has since exhibited in France, England, Italy and Belgium.

After having experimented with what he calls the mobility of painting and its multiple applications, Julien now synthesizes

his

experiments

in

a

practice he defines as mechanistic.

By reducing subjectivity to a minimum through the methodical application of layers of colour on the wall or paper, he evacuates the subject from the painting to reveal its internal structure.

From the reduction of the latter to an arbitrary and repetitive action, sweeping, sanding, erasing, adding, paintings emerge as catches between two times, almost resembling bad digital prints, and which perpetually replay their possibility of success.

RICHARD WHADCOCK

b. 1967, Birmingham, England.

Richard studied MA Printmaking at the Royal College of Art. Printmaking involved a process which gives a working structure which can then be transposed and found in Richard’s approach to painting. From the preparation of a painting surface, hand wiping etching plates to hand wiping the paintings themselves. The work involved paring down to the bare essentials while leaving enough for the image to work.

His work recently has been influenced by an artist’s residency where Richard was invited to be involved with in Cill Rialaig in Kerry. The South Downs where he lives has always been a predominant influence around him.

Luca is an Italian artist, he began his academic studies in photography at Arts University Bournemouth (UK).

During this time, he was the first lighting assistant to several fine art and fashion photographers based in London.

He graduated in Fashion Photography with 1st Class Honours, July 2017.

Hadassi (British / B. 1995) is a fine art and fashion photographer, whose work is romantic yet melancholic.

Hadassi is inspired by icons of the early pictorialist movement such as Julia Margaret Cameron. She begins with her subjects in nature, and by using soft-focus and grain, the work transports

the

viewer

to

a

world

of her own.

Born and raised in an Orthodox Jewish household in London, she was deeply inspired by the women that raised her. “The female role models I was surrounded by were very maternal and pure — like goddesses — but they were often very sad,” Hadassi says.

“They had an aura like they were from another time.”

Early

in

her

career,

Hadassi

was

mentored by legendary rock and roll photographer, David Montgomery, at his London studio. While working for him, she became immersed in 1950s

b. 1942, Suwa City, Japan.

He took his first photographs at a fishing village using a Rolleiflex at 18. His views of people, nature, and the world have changed since taking those. Photography became a medium of self- expression, rich with narratives from post-war Japan, his bi-cultural experiences, and constant search for inner peace.

Hideoki moved to New York City in 1963 when fashion editorial was at its height of transformation. He apprenticed under James Moore. In 1966, Hideoki received commissions from Harper’s Bazaar, New York Times Magazine, amongst other publications.

In 1978, Barbara Jakobson who was the former board of trustees at the MoMA, acquired Hideoki’s Swan photograph.

She donated the piece to be part of the museum’s permanent photo collection.

In 2021, Hideoki, decided to release

Stefan Heyne now lives and works in Berlin.

He is a professional stage designer who turned to the medium of photography about 15 years ago and since then has created abstract works of art on a grand scale. Heyne photographs landscapes as well as interiors only the actual motifs are not recognizable as such in his work but are usually coloured areas.

His

photographs

are

emphatically

nonrepresentational. The artist omits elements

that

photograph,

generally

forgoing

the

identifiable motif. Instead he creates abstract photographs that are honed to perfection by paring his imagery to a blurred play of light and shadows with no indication of form.

My work is rhythmic, feminine and self evolving. It grows from an intimate setting of one’s personal commodities or memorable symbolical elements into the utopian dream-like yet calculated and steady ambience. It feels almost like music with its own rules of rhythm, repetition and imagination. The photos usually convey the mental landscape that surrounds modern humanity. The required lifesaving cocoon of prosperity, light-heartedness and the ‘good life’ that people weave by documenting and carefully selecting events in their life, creating their own ‘comfort zone’.”

“My goal is always to move people and to cause wonder in the viewer. I think this is mainly because it is what I enjoy myself. Essentially when you take a photograph someone is allowing you to look at them, and that is a gift. So I feel duty bound to do the best pictures for those people, and also I want to take pictures that moved people. When I talk about the feeling as opposed to the composition, I mean this, that I was looking for some truth, something authentic and in any case, my vision was always emotionally driven.

“My works are typically about my emotions and my feelings and how I can show them in a visual form. So it is basically to visualise emotions I feel. Also What I have learnt from childhood until now and how I handle my feelings about everything. I try as much to get it as thought of. My weapon is using a close friend or relative as my subjects. The reason being that, I know said persons have some sort of understanding about me and how I would want things to go during the shoot: this is my little barrier sometime because I can’t shoot myself. But also a familiar person is my best bet. Most times I don’t need too much directing on set, shooting people who know me well. I also believe I feel much at ease and comfortable when the subject is familiar.”

across the mediums of photography, sculpture and the written word to pursue an exploration of the world which is both analytical and visceral.

Born on the Isle of Man and raised in London, she retained her instinctual preoccupation and longing for margins, coastlines and wild places. Her work explores

desire,

instinct,

liminality

and the relationships between human and non-human bodies (e.g. bodies of water, bodies of land). Her works often carrying within them a duality - intimacy and expanse, destruction and

creation.

Her artistic

practice

is deeply routed in an engagement with an animate world that “talks back”, she is seeking to learn. Wanda’s photographic series Blue on Fire and Hope’s Paradox were nominated for the Prix Pictet Global Photography Award in 2019 and 2021 respectively.

She has most recently been nominated for the Louis Roederer Photographic prize.

Michael Cooper creates both large small-scale sculptures

animal in

marble,

and

human

stone,

and

bronze. Michael studied at Heatherly’s School of Art between 1969 and 1971 and then under Anthony Gray.

Michael’s sensuous sculptures have a deep and quiet energy, perhaps imparted by the long hours of chipping which bring them forth from the stone, revealing not only the inner calm and beauty of the stone but also the essence of the animal itself. His work brings the third dimension vividly to life through the irresistible urge to feel and caress surface and form and this abstract pleasure is essential to the appreciation of his sculptures.

Michael has exhibited widely since 1974 including the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and The Royal Academy, as well as with many private galleries. He is a fellow of the Royal British Society of Sculptors and exhibits permanently at The Sir Charles Napier restaurant,

“I experienced at times a feeling that something had been achieved which was correct and harmonious, almost in spite of myself. It was like a dimension that I could only glimpse.

These moments were most apparent when I was working on sculpture. There would be times when some other faculty seemed to be working, allowing me to see other aspects of the work and achieve a result often quite different to what I had planned. As I carved a block of stone, it became possible to harmonise with the material and work in partnership with it rather than in conflict. The physical effort of carving and the concentration required produce a very precise focus, suspending the usual thought process and allowing another part of me to function.”

French artist, Hopare since his first graffiti 15 years ago on the walls of Limours, he has forged a very strong graphic identity and embarked on a deeply humanist journey.

Emerging from strong contrasts of colours, his dreamlike portraits are structured by dynamic black lines, the artist’s trademark, which give his works their futuristic look. Yet, the faces of his work do exist they are Hopare’s way to pay tribute to the people he meets in the course of his travels.

His entire process is therefore rooted in a humanistic approach, reminding us of the importance of respect and exchange, but also of the fight for equality and

justice. Although,

he

does not intend to be political, his works have a powerful social and political resonance. In 2019, he was commissioned to do a 1,000m2 mural in Atlanta for the Super Bowl. He will

Richard WM Hudson has been working as a mixed media artist since a very young age. Gaining awards at school for his art to then having his work acquired by the Victoria and Albert Museum at the early age of 16.

LEE YONG SOON b. 1957, Korea

Lee Yong Soon’s (b.1957) Moon Jars are a very close contemporary rendering of the ancient vases of the Joseon dynasty. Fascinated from a young age by pottery, Lee Yong Soon is self taught, and even sold his wedding ring to finance his emerging career.

Abiding to his close ties with tradition, his studio is located deep in the Korean mountains; he uses the same clay, found in mountain caves, which was used in the royal kilns from the 14th Century onwards.

His distinctive bright white glaze is made with pine ash from the mountain trees, and has a soft, luminescent glow.

Lacloche’s method is exploratory and empirical: an initial experiment of photographic revelation on the giant Gunnera leaf generated the first ‘imageleaf’. It is through light that this unique plant

Jérôme Robbe lives and works in the SW of France.

Painting naturally has a certain liquid quality. Robbe lets the paint flow freely and creates an image that contains an immense temporality. For him, fluidity means freedom.

The

artist

heats

the

plexiglass.

It

becomes soft, expands and the surface turns into ripples and cracks. The artist then had some water vaporized above the plexiglass. The mist slowly whirls down on the panel. The transparent varnish coloured with pigments then is poured over it and finds its way across the deformed surface, just as a river follows its bed. Gravity and chance do their job. It evokes associations with a horizon or a river through which the abstract monochromes can also be seen as landscape paintings. That landscape is reflected in the process: the pouring of the varnish on the irregular panel, the undulating landscape.
