Community Advisory Board Meeting December 13, 2011 BSPR Broadcast Center Ron and Linda Yanke Family Research Center 220 Parkside Blvd. 6:00 p.m.-7:30 pm Meeting Minutes I. Welcome - CAB Chair- Susan Giannettino • Introductions and each person stated why they wanted to serve on the CAB as an ice break activity II. Approval of minutes from October, 2011 meeting • Moved (Zang), seconded (Reiman) and approved, pending editorial corrections provided by Fulkerson III.

Sense of Place-presentation from study- Paul Stribling & Sadie Babits (two handouts were provided; one of the PowerPoint slides and one that was the report completed for BSPR by Walrus Research a. What is it? • Update locate news • What are the listeners looking for in the station? • Bringing the pilot program to BSPR • We put it into our budget for this FY • No matter where you look – listeners are the same: They want in depth coverage, to feed the need they have for lifelong hunger for continuous learning b. Who was involved? • Most recent study is based on the earlier Walrus Research, originally conducted in 2006 • Our basics are centered around basics defined by Public Radio’s Core Values o Qualities of Mind o Qualities of the Heart and Spirit o Qualities of Craft • Take away message is:– quality trumps quantity • Research questions are centered around a mapping exercise and the listeners sense of connection to their community
