Call to Order: Dennis called the meeting to order at 12:02 pm. He presented the minutes of the March 8, 2022, meeting, which Laurie made motion to approve as written, with a second by Bill. All voted in favor. No changes to minutes and motion to approve with Laurie 1st and then 2nd Tyson. Executive Committee: Just set agenda for this meeting. Governance Committee Fundraising Committee: Kendal to report on Fundraising but Kristin will have a presentation later. Advocacy Committee: Dennis discussed that they are excited about upcoming events. Bethany reported on in-person events. Participating in traditional events we have done in the past and outlined in the minutes for Advocacy with 2 concerts in ADA and 2 in Canyon County. One classical guitar player.
Broadcast society event in June 2nd at the station. Soul Food Festival in August @ Julia Davis, Shakespeare, Art in the Park, Latin Affairs panel discussion in June @ CSI in Twin Falls with also Another Round. Other events that are out of town. Programming Committee: Has an opportunity to have input to replace “On Being” going away. Will be more as needed, ad hoc. Lacey brought up digital programming needs and sending them ideas. Dennis suggested Programming to become Content Committee to find better avenues to reach others per Teresa and even if they don’t feel that they don’t align with the political ideology of NPR. Nominating Committee: Teresa stated that we need to add some people to nominating committee. Only Meet April-October and work on recruiting people for new year. Meeting virtually for now, but may be in person sometimes. Community Comment: All Things Considered interviewed Sáša about her surgery. Leta brought up Boise Music Week where she is in the cast. Also discussed other underwriters, like community cakes who won underwriting. Sharing racism and disparity in the Ukrainian diversity system. More focus on certain stories that might need more attention and maybe we can shine a light. Planting the seed for community discussion to discuss local impact. Lacey met some BSPR listeners in Las Vegas. Shirts for CAB Members. Station Report: Tom to discuss items brought up by executive committee. How does BSPR fit into NPR world. Working with collaboration board working group to have more power for fundraising. News team won 20 press club awards. Received 2 regional Murrow awards for Rachel Cohen’s stories. Welcome two interns for the summer. Team is working across the departments better as we come back and working cross purposes. New RFA Julie Luchetta will be the new RFA to cover Canyon County and cover Latinx issues and is living and reporting in Canyon County. Kristin to discuss fund drive and present amounts. $22k over goal and 47 over people goal. Dennis let everyone know there will not be a July meeting this summer. The meeting was adjourned at 1:24 PM.
