Call to Order: Dennis called the meeting to order at 12:00 pm. He presented the minutes of the September 13, 2022, meeting; Susan made motion to approve as written, with a second by Tyson; it was approved without objection. Kaleb Smith graduated and will be dropping off the CAB.
Executive Committee: Julie had sent out Bylaws revision to better address allowing Leta to rejoin after a 1 year break. The CAB allows for 2 terms, with a break and then another year afterwards the ability to serve another term. Motion by Teresa approved ass written and second by Andy. All voted yes to make change.
Governance Committee: Dennis discussed the slate of officers. Chair: Julie Adams DeFord and Vice Chair Bill Vasconcellos. Voted yes by everyone. Dennis will be past chair. At large members will be Laura Bond and Kendal will continue for another year on Executive Committee in At Large. All voted in favor in reelecting Bill and Shelley for another three year term.
Fundraising Committee: Lauren spoke about the fundraising initiative with Dr. Kustra. For winter drive the goal will be $250k. Giving Tuesday is coming up and we nominate other non-profits to enter to win an underwriting campaign.
Advocacy Committee: Susan spoke about the open house happening this weekend Saturday 12-4 pm and it will be a good culmination of the Summer events that we’ve been able to get active at again. Bethany mentioned thank you packaging and thank you calls for CAB volunteers to help with. Dennis explained thank you calls are great.
Audience Experience Committee: Autumn will be sending out requests to add people to the committee and they will be more of a task committee. They are first starting with testing the listener experience and having a Zoom about this. Elsje and Kendal have asked to be added to the committee.
Nominating Committee: Teresa asked Susan to discuss Max Silverson. He lives in McCall. Works for Star News. Kendal spoke about Fatuma, an extraordinary young woman. She’s very active in her community in Nampa. Jeremy spoke to her about commitment and she is ready. Dennis spoke about Britta who is a friend of Dennis. She’s involved with Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Very active and gets stuff done. Voted on whole group and approved all three. One more meeting for the year and let new members know they’ve been elected and will pair with board member to mentor. Jeremy taking over Nominating Committee. Teresa is leaving after her two terms. Rebecca needs to be added to Nominating Committee list.
Community Comment: Andy spoke about recent trip where NPR was much discussed. Dennis was talking to neighbors about the power of the signal in his neighborhood. The signal is poor in the Harris Ranch, Warm Springs Mesa etc. Leta spoke about community announcements for Ada County as compared to Canyon County. Leta spoke about being more proactive about community calendar events in Canyon County. Terry spoke about Jessie Trees for Avenues for Hope on the Community Calendar but also trying to reach their fundraising goal. December 8 is the date of fundraising event.

Station Report: Shared the financials from FY22. Discussed the net loss. Looked at the three-year view and the one-time gifts that allowed an overall net gain for that period. Kendal had questions about fundraising in Lewiston since our programming caters more to Southern Idaho.
Recap: Events & Appearances: MWNB, Rachel Cohen won Edward R Murrow award, Movies with George. Idaho Matters hosted a debate and presented at the Blue Sky Summit diversity event.
Tom discussed planned power outage from Idaho Power at the studios, for which we had generators and back-up batteries and it all worked out great.
Programming had Public Radio Music Day where we shared music and then had a live call-in show for elections and special broadcasting for the Queen’s passing via the BBC.
Getting a lot of questions about ballots. All our voter question/answers have been top 5. Open house Saturday. Winter drive 12/8-12/13. CAB orientation will be 1/10/23
Old business/New business
Leta signed up for shift but will not be able to make it 2-4pm.
This will Dennis’ last meeting as chair and Teresa’s last meeting as CAB member. Meeting adjourned at 1:15 pm
