Station Projects for CAB involvement Hispanic Radio L.M.A. (Hess) Possibility of creating a Hispanic radio station on AM 730. Didn’t feel that there was a group within the Hispanic community that is organized enough to take it on. We can flip it to an all Hispanic station, using Radio Bilingue. Programming is free and only requires one piece of $3,000 equipment. Could probably not happen until before 3rd quarter of FY2010. Timeline for conversion. Need to make up a separate CAB, made up of people within the Hispanic community and hire a new station manager for that particular station. Couple of pitfalls down the road – 4 more years on our lease with clearchannel. Relicensing could take hundreds of thousands of dollars. Marshall suggested that we find out what percentage of Latinos is on clear channel’s board. We don’t really have ways to know what the number of people listening to Hispanic programming is – a little with pledge drive. Number of pledges is increasing. Program Review Committee (Ellis) Committee listened to quite a bit of audio for new programs. Result of discussion resulted in the July 1st program changes. Better program flow on Saturday – more entertainment. Ele does not expect any national programming to change this year the way it did last year. 32 weeks of Boise Philharmonic this year. Music from Stanley – Saturday’s – will run through mid December. Paul wanted to know if we are in the process of
bringing in more national NPR personalities. Vida briefed group on process and what we have recently been through. Capital Campaign Committee (Kloc) Committee has been meeting since June. What do we have to do to get ready for a capital campaign? They have spent a lot of time working on a case statement. John and Hy meeting with Major Donors over last couple of months. Consultant will want to form a focus group. 2 million dollar campaign – going to take some time. Will take any more volunteers they can get to help with campaign. Bob Stein of Major Giving (dot) com is consultant being used for capital campaign. Hy asked that people read through the case statement and then get back to him with comments/ suggestions. Engaging Communities (Duncan) “That could be me” series of stories. News team paired up into 3 sets of people. Focused on parents trying to get school supplies for their families at the Salvation Army. Also focused on people applying for food stamps – people that never had before. Talked to healthcare professionals about what is happening – how many people who have no medical insurance are now turning towards government programs. Had a round table discussion on what is happening in community. Next big project is the “Hometown” project. V.

Average pledge was $103. 10/7 starts the KBSU drive – will run through Saturday. Still need phone volunteers for Saturday.
