Community Advisory Board Meeting January 13, 2008 Simplot/Micron BuildingRM 210 Boise State University Campus 6:00 p.m.7:30 p.m* AGENDA I.

Welcome CAB Chair

II.

Approval of minutes from Oct. 7, 2008 meeting Marshall approved the minutes and Ken Seconded Update on current Boise State Radio strategic plan Based on draft plans that were submitted to John by different groups last week, an overall, rough strategic plan is coming into place. High points: 1) Physical Plant transition – move could take from a year to a year and a half. Will need to have a capitol campaign in order to raise funds for new facilities. 2) Expand Strategic Sweet Spot – how do we continue to grow it while we may not see double digit numbers in growth over the next few years. Where do we put our resources to get a good return on investment. Need to make decisions thoughtfully. New news Director needs to be hired and we need to do local news better. We nee to take the feedback from the CAB and staff on the BSR web strategy. Is the web a compliment to the station or will it be a parallel track? Quality of the content, aesthetics and user friendliness need to shift. 3) Marketing and Branding – an area that needs to result in an increase in listenership and membership. Need to raise the awareness of BSR within BSR. 4) Performance Management – increased area of focus. Don’t want to waste time on projects that don’t further you strategically. Goal is to bring the final plan to the CAB in early March. Listener numbers are 6 months old – but if you have them over a long term and can sense the trend, you can start to see where things are headed.

III.

Marshall – Did we discuss what we want BSR to be in the future? In order to remain relevant and be a player, what do we need to do? Paul – what do we not do? Struggling with what the ROI is for KBSU AM? What are the ramifications of not fulfilling grants? Can some of the money be repurposed for the web, or other areas that we want to focus on?
