"Our story began 25 years ago on St. Patrick’s Day, when Jim Bognet and Jeff Kaiser officially opened our doors for business with a dream in hand. Fast forward to 2023, Bognet is recognized as one of the top general contractors in the DC Metro Area. We’ve enjoyed many great successes and we withstood our share of challenging times along the way!

Thank you everyone who attended the 25 th Anniversary Lunch at Fogo de Chão. We were happy to celebrate our shared success and look forward to the next 25 years. We were fortunate enough to have Jim's father, Rocco, join us on his birthday.

WORDS FROM JIM:

"Without this entire amazing team, we wouldn't be here today. I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your hard work, dedication, and commitment to making Bognet a success. I'm grateful that I've been able to work with such wonderful people over the years and that we've been able to provide for all of our families. Our clients have also played a vital role in our success. I always felt it was very

important to make our customers, our friends in order to grow the company. I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to them as well. We've been very fortunate enough to work with some incredible people over the last 25 years in pursuit of building lasting relationships and we don't take that for granted."

WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION WEEK

A CONVERSATION WITH JENNIFER BOGNET:

What does it mean to be a woman in construction?

Jennifer: I have enjoyed being a woman in the construction industry. Perhaps it even enabled me to stand out. There was no disadvantage as a woman working to build a deep network of customers and partners, to be a part of great teams that built many beautiful facilities, and to serve the community both with my business and my personal efforts.

Do you have advice for women entering the industry?

Jennifer: It is important to be well-rounded and to never stop learning. If you want to truly grow your career, it requires more than subject matter expertise to be promoted to the executive level/C suite. It is critical to develop executive management skills such as strategic thinking, decision making, emotional intelligence, and employee development.

What is the most important change that has happened?

Jennifer: The industry is working to be more inclusive when they think about filling a new position in a very tough environment to find qualified construction employees. I see more women leading companies in construction, engineering & architecture/design than ever before.

How has the industry changed its attitude

toward women during your time working in construction?

Jennifer: I believe the industry has recognized how many women are both interested and motivated to be a part of the construction industry, especially as the labor market has tightened and the industry growth rate expanded over the last 15 years. There are so many talented and accomplished women in construction and so it is not unusual to see women in both office and field positions.

Thank you Abbey and Isabell for giving us a walking tour of one of your projects. We appreciate how you represent women in the field.

"It is important to be well-rounded and to never stop learning. If you want to truly grow your career, it requires more than subject matter expertise to be promoted to the executive level/C suite.
