In the next few years missions will be launched to prepare the planet’s surface for the first four human settlers, who will be sent there some time before 2024. From then on, additional teams will be taken there every two years to expand the colony. The candidates don’t need any special scientific qualifications, but they have to pass a tough behavioural test. The 200,000 original applicants have now been whittled down to a shortlist of 705, comprising 418 men and 287 women. The definitive selection will be made by the general public, voting from home. Endemol has already signed on for the reality show with the contestants, scheduled for late 2015. Take care, though - in this case the tickets are one-way only.

Después, cada dos años, se enviarán equipos adicionales para expandir la colonia.
