UCBB offers a range of degree level programmes across two campuses – both set in stunning countryside.
You’d be forgiven for presuming that all we had to offer was fields, but UCBB offers so much more.
East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire are packed with quaint villages, historic towns, fun cities, and areas of outstanding natural beauty. The landscape is outstanding, the people are friendly, and they’re some of the most affordable places in the UK to live. What’s not to love?!
Plus, our small group sizes mean that you’ll make friends from day one, ready to head to one of our on-campus events or to explore the local area, from stunning Yorkshire and Lincolnshire coastlines to bustling cities.
You’re never far from your next adventure... Both of our campuses are close to major road links and trainlines connecting you to the whole country. Hop on a train in Brough or Lincoln and you can be in London in less than 2.5 hours!
I love having Beverley on my doorstep. It has some great bars and restaurants.
Just ten minutes from Bishop Burton is the beautiful Georgian town of Beverley. Overlooked by the stunning Beverley Minster, it’s home to some amazing independent bars, restaurants and shops, as well as a cinema and Beverley Racecourse.
Hull is my go-to place for shopping or a night out. I’ve been to some great gigs there too.
Whether you’re in search of a great nightclub, fancy coming face-to-face with a shark, are looking for free museums or want to check out art galleries full of masters’ work, you’ll love Hull and it’s just 20 minutes from Bishop Burton.
Having Lincoln so close is brilliant. There is such an eclectic mix of entertainment venues, places to eat and drink.
Just 15 minutes from our Riseholme College campus, Lincoln combines a rich history with a vibrant and contemporary edge. It’s packed with independent boutiques, great arts and culture, plus loads of places to eat and drink.
We welcome students from all over the UK and internationally who are able to take advantage of our on-campus accommodation.
Living in our student village is a great way to meet people. It also means you’re only ever minutes away from your lectures, social events and our sports and fitness facilities.
UCBB’s student rooms are all ensuite. At the Riseholme College campus all rooms are half board. At Bishop Burton, you can choose either half board or self-catered. You’ll have access to a shared kitchen with a fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave. If you opt for our self-catered halls, you’ll also have access to a full oven and a hob.
If you choose half-board, you’ll get a £1,000 contribution on your ID card to supplement the cost of food and drink within our catering outlets. Perfect if you don’t fancy cooking every day!
We want you to feel as happy and safe as possible whilst you’re living with us, so we have 24-hour security on campus and access to the halls is by swipe card or key only. We also have CCTV in operation across the site, which covers the front doors of our halls of residence.

There’s plenty to keep you busy at UCBB. We kick things off with Welcome Week, which is a great opportunity to meet people and see what life is all about at UCBB. Our Student Association plans events and activities on campus throughout the year too.
“It’s a great place to be. Everything you need is on campus and there’s lots going on.”
Why not get involved and have an influence on your university experience by joining our Student Association. Come together to plan events, represent the student voice with a place on our Board of Governors or raise funds for a charity close to your heart. It’s all amazing experience and will also look fab on your CV!
We have a range of sports clubs at varying levels, from rugby to clay pigeon shooting, which are a great way to make friends. If playing team sports isn’t your thing, you can always cheer on our teams during their Wednesday afternoon matches or head to the gym instead. You’ll get discounted gym membership (it’s free if you live on campus!), giving you access to fitness classes such as yoga.
It’s not all sport though...we also have clubs for crafts, chess, Lego and more. If we haven’t got your interest covered already, chat to our Student Services team and we’ll see what we can do.
From small steps to larger projects, we are working on multiple ways of supporting our carbon reduction targets. Here are just five things we’re doing to be more sustainable:
We are replacing our older diesel fuelled cars with electric vehicles.
We have switched our disposable food packaging to eco-friendly alternatives.
Our grounds maintenance team is working towards becoming carbon net zero, with sports ground maintenance now 75% off-grid! We’re capturing solar and wind energy to power our grounds maintenance equipment, including our robotic mower, chainsaws, leaf blowers and trimmers. Keep an eye out for Lionel Pitchie, our batteryoperated line-marking machine!
We are currently on track to meet our ambitious target, working with partners such as Agrii, White Rose Farms Ltd and Stabiliser Cattle Co. From feeding only homegrown products to our livestock to adopting new precision agriculture technologies, there’s lots going on.
Bishop Burton has a balancing lake that acts as a flood defence for the rural villages downstream. It also features as a water jump for our British Eventing Horse Trials!
Everyone learns in a different way, which is why we use a range of teaching methods to make sure that you have built the skills you need to succeed in your chosen industry by the time you graduate.
Our experienced, supportive and motivated staff have both academic and industrial experience. A range of guest speakers will further supplement your learning and ensure you’re fully prepared to start your career.
For all modules, theory-based lectures are where you will receive the core content of your programme, gaining essential knowledge to underpin your studies. To cement this learning, you will also take part in group seminars and personalised support.
Finally, the all-important, hands-on practical sessions will reinforce concepts and develop the skills that support the theory.
You will be encouraged to take part in extra-curricular activities and/or work experience to enhance your learning. As well as vocational learning on campus, mandatory work experience is integrated into some of our programmes.
As a UCBB student, you will also have access to an online Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), which will enhance and facilitate teaching and independent learning on all programmes.
Our student-centred approach will help you to develop the independent learning skills that are essential in the workplace, beyond your time at UCBB.
You will have tutor-led contact time each week, which will include lectures, seminars, on-campus work experience, practical sessions and personalised support. You are also expected to carry out a significant amount of independent study in addition to contact time. You can choose to do this from home or on campus.
At UCBB, we want you to feel confident and comfortable at every stage of your education. We offer a range of support, from helping you to understand assignment briefs to specialist support for people with bespoke needs, such as inclusive tools and adaptive technology.

Studying for a degree is an investment in your future, but we know that it can feel a little daunting.
When budgeting, make sure you consider things such as:
• Tuition fees
• Other course fees, including equipment, trips and printing
• Accommodation
• TV licence
• Food and drink
• Course books
• Clothing, personal care and health and fitness
• Mobile phone
• A suitable electronic device (such as a laptop or tablet) with internet connectivity to access online learning
• Graduation expenses such as the hire of ceremonial dress
Learn more about fees and finance
Tuition fees for students starting their programme in the September 2024 – May 2025 academic year are as follows for full-time students. These fees are per year of study.
• Foundation Degree: £8,950
• Degree: £8,950
• Masters Degree: £8,950
• HNC and HND: £7,500
• Higher Education Certificate: £7,500
• PGCE: £7,000
Fees for part-time students are calculated on a pro rata basis. Annual course fees will remain the same for the duration of your study programme. There will be additional costs for some courses, such as trips and specialist equipment and clothing.
You may be able to borrow money to help pay for tuition fees and living costs whilst you’re studying for your degree. Full details of Student Loans can be found at gov.uk/student-finance
The important thing to remember about these loans is that you make repayments based on how much you earn not how much you’ve borrowed!
Once you leave your course, you’ll only repay when your income is above the repayment threshold. The current UK threshold is £25,000 a year, £2,083 a month, or £480 a week. For example, if you earn £26,000 a year before tax, you’ll repay approximately just £7 a month.
Postgraduate loans are now also available for those studying a masters programme, and UCBB offers a bursary for alumni on our postgraduate programmes.
UCBB offers a range of bursaries to support students from lower income households and those underrepresented in higher education.
