Welcome to Spring Live

We are so pleased to invite you to the Bishop Burton College campus for this exciting event!

Spring Live is a fun-packed day, which will allow you to explore the beautiful campus grounds and enjoy an array of family orientated entertainment and activities.

Bishop Burton College started life as an agricultural college in 1954 and has grown to offer a wide range of complementary courses, such as Animal Management, Sport and Public Services. Each of our courses taps into the wonderful resources that our land has to offer us,

ANIMAL ADVENTURES

Reptile Encounters

Learning Resource Centre (LRC) ∞ All day Have a go at handling some of our creepy crawlies… and even a snake, if you dare!

Visit our Animal Centre

Animal Management Unit ∞ All day

Tour around our Animal Management Unit at your own leisure to see more than 100 different species

Animal Keeper Talks

Outdoor Animal Management Centre ∞ Various times - see signs

Pop along and find out what it takes to look after some of our more exotic residents.

Kennel Tours

Kennels ∞ 11.30am and 2pm

Take a tour of our 5* kennel facility.

We have some fantastic experiences to take part in such as archery, reptile handling, flower arranging and of course our new season lambing.

Dog Grooming Demonstrations

Find out what it takes to keep your dog well-groomed and feeling pampered. You can even pick up a treat to pamper your pooch.

Super Science

Laboratories ∞ All day

Visit the labs and have a go at making your own slime, butterfly or test tube plant.

Join stunt rider Kat and her horse, Morocho, for a new display that will have you on the edge of your seat!

Equine Academy Showjumping

Bishop Burton Arena ∞ 12.30pm

Watch our equine academy in action as they showjump in our main indoor arena.

Mechanical Horse Ride

Rider Fitness and Performance Suite ∞ All Day

Become a jockey for the day with our horse riding simulators ‘Bertie’ and ‘Horatio’.

Hobby Horse Obstacle Course

Dog Training Arena ∞ All day

Have a go around the obstacle course with one of our hobby horses.

Una Voce

BISHOP’S TABLE RESTAURANT

Enjoy a traditional Sunday roast with all the trimmings, including Bishop Burton Beef! Plus we’ll have dessert to satisfy that sweet tooth, hot and cold drinks and snacks.

OSTLER’S BISTRO

A choice of sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes, hot and cold drinks and snacks.

MEADOWS RESTAURANT AND BAR

A selection of hot food to eat in or take away. Drinks, snacks and sandwiches are also available from our licensed bar.

CANTERS CAFE

A selection of sandwiches, hot snacks and refreshments to go.

CROFT AREA

A selection of options are available from our on-campus team, as well as some wonderful trade stands too. Grab some chips, a sandwich, a delicious pizza or even a pie to take home.

Event Information

A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER

• Please wash your hands after touching animals and livestock. Wash facilities are available in all campus toilets and within the Reptile Encounters area.

• Ensure that after handling animals children do not put their hands in their mouth, to prevent risk of contamination.

• For safety, no eating, drinking or smoking is permitted around or near to animal enclosures. Anyone found to be breaking the rules will be asked to leave the campus.

• When you get home, once you have removed your outdoor clothing and shoes, we advise you to wash your hands thoroughly.

• Be mindful of livestock on campus and be aware of their presence at all times.

• Please follow instructions given by stewards – they are there to ensure your safety.

• Dogs, other than assistance dogs, are not permitted at Spring Live.

• Pregnant women are advised not to enter the lambing shed during Spring Live.

PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

Every precaution has been taken to ensure the college is a safe environment to explore, but please remember that this is a working farm. Parents/guardians are responsible for the wellbeing of children in their party.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Professional photographers, both employed by the college and members of the press, will be present taking photographs and video clips throughout the day. These images may be used, without further notification, at a later date to promote the college and future events. If you do not wish your photograph to be taken, please inform the photographer.

FIRST AID AND LOST CHILDREN

The First Aid and Lost Children Information Point is located at Meadows Restaurant and Bar. Please speak to a member of staff in the first instance should you require assistance.

TOILETS

The college has a number of toilet facilities around campus. These have been highlighted on the event map on pages 4 - 5.

FREE PARK AND RIDE

Our free accessible park and ride service will offer return journeys leaving from the bus terminal adjacent to the Main Car Park.

Ran by East Yorkshire Buses, return journeys will depart approximately every 20 - 25 minutes. The last bus leaves at 3.30pm.
