El 20 de octubre de este año, coincidiendo con el Día de la Cultura Cubana, inicia uno de los eventos mundiales más esperados por los amantes de la danza clásica en el orbe: el Festival Internacional de Ballet de La Habana. Esta cita, de celebración bianual, realza el legado de la bailarina, coreógrafa y maestra Alicia Alonso -prima ballerina assoluta del Ballet Nacional de Cuba- y propicia el encuentro de virtuosos de este arte escénico que, tan prodigiosamente, mezcla danza, actuación, música e historias seductoras.

On October 20 this year, coinciding with Cuba's Culture Day, one of the world's most awaited events for ballet lovers around the world kicks off: the Havana International Ballet Festival. This event, held every two years, highlights the legacy of ballerina, choreographer and teacher Alicia Alonso -prima ballerina assoluta of the National Ballet of Cuba- and brings together virtuosos of ballet, which so prodigiously blends dance, acting, music and captivating stories.

Hacer coincidir la estancia en Cuba, con este suceso cultural, uno de los más importantes de la isla caribeña, es un regalo exclusivo, unas vacaciones de lujo. La vigésima séptima edición del festival será el comienzo de los festejos por el 75 aniversario de la compañía cubana de ballet y se extenderán hasta finales del 2023. Y como cada edición, esta será portadora de lo mejor de la danza mundial, vibrantes puestas en escena y bailarines de reconocido prestigio harán palpitar las tablas de los teatros. Al igual que en encuentros pasados, estarán presentes célebres compañías del mundo, como el London Royal Ballet, el English National Ballet, la Scala de Milán, el American Ballet Theatre y el New York City Ballet.

Presidido por la reconocida Viengsay Valdés -primera bailarina y directora del Ballet Nacional de Cuba- el encuentro dará la oportunidad a balletómanos y aficionados, de disfrutar de varias funciones del clásico Giselle -obra maestra del ballet romántico-, con la actuación de figuras invitadas en los papeles protagónicos, así como de galas con obras de estreno, concebidas para el evento.
