Well, here we are once more, welcoming another season. Summer is one of my favorite times of the year! I love the beach and all of the family gatherings. The lazy hazy days of summer is the epitome of joy. The joy of coming through the cold hard winter.
I’m truly delighted to continue sharing stories of triumph and glory from Black men and women in our communities who remain steadfast in the fight against systemic and spiritual injustices. This issue will highlight the true joy of the Black community and the strength we possess.Together, we will celebrate the inspiring achievements and vibrant culture that define us. Our pages will be filled with stories that uplift and empower, showcasing the creativity, resilience, and unity that continue to shine brightly in the face of adversity. As we embark on this journey through summer, let us embrace the warmth of the season and the warmth of our community spirit. Thank you for joining us in honoring these remarkable tales and for being a part of this vibrant tapestry of life.
Respectfully Yours,

BLACK FATIGUE: BLACK FATIGUE REFERS TO THE PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND EMOTIONAL EXHAUSTION EXPERIENCED BY BLACK PEOPLE DUE TO THE CUMULATIVE EFFECTS OF RACISM AND RACIAL DISCRIMINATION.
“Black Fatigue” ““Black Fatigue” you’ve heard the term repeatedly, but it is not what you think. Here’s a little truth about what black fatigue really is and how it got started. Before naming this experience Mary-Frances Winters experienced it continuously; she describes it as "a dull droning sound that is always present" and "an underlying syndrome of sorts that permeates my very being."
This sensation stems from the exhaustion caused by "the daily small acts of aggression or disrespect" that a Black person faces, the relentless need to validate one's worth, and the constant influx of news about injustices and violence against those who share their appearance.
She refers to this feeling as "Black fatigue." Although this issue is not something they have created, Winters, a diversity and equity consultant from North Carolina, emphasizes the importance of recognizing and acknowledging the impact of living with racism for the sake of their well-being. "You have to take care of yourself."Winters advocates for self-care as a crucial strategy for combating Black fatigue. She suggests that individuals should prioritize their mental health by setting boundaries, seeking supportive communities, and engaging in activities that bring joy and peace. Furthermore, she encourages allies to educate themselves and actively participate in dismantling systemic racism, thereby alleviating some of the burdens placed on Black communities.
Winters also highlights the power of storytelling as a tool for healing and awareness. By sharing personal experiences and listening to others, individuals can foster understanding and compassion, creating a more inclusive and empathetic society. In this way, the narrative of Black fatigue not only sheds light on the struggles faced by Black people but also serves as a call to action for all to work towards a more equitable world.
The very next time you hear the media trying to convince us that Black Fatigue is the phenomenon of White America being tired of African Americans playing the ““race catd” you can shut it down with the truth.

We’ve entered the delightful spring and summer months, and nothing sounds more appealing than a crunchy, refreshing salad. Imagine a salad brimming with crisp lettuce, zesty parmesan cheese, savory salami, and a luscious dressing! What more could you possibly desire? I’ve combined all these delectable ingredients and more into my **10Minute Good Italian Chopped Salad Meal**, and it’s absolutely amazing. I assure you, you won’t be able to resist! Let’s get started! *Smooches!*
For the Dressing:
⅓ Cup Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
3 Tablespoons Red Wine Vinegar
1 Teaspoon Dijon Mustard plus additional, if desired
1 Tablespoon Dried Oregano
1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
1 Teaspoon Sea Salt plus additional, if desired
¾ Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper plus additional, if desired
For the Salad:
4 Cups Iceberg Lettuce finely chopped; this is about one head
3 Cups Romaine Lettuce finely chopped; this is about one head
4 Persian Cucumbers chopped; this is optional, but highly recommended
½ Cup Salami finely chopped
1 15 Ounce Can Garbanzo Beans drained and rinsed
½ Cup Kalamata Olives chopped
¾ Cup Diced Tomatoes
½ Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese plus more for topping, if desired.
To make this salad, Whisk the dressing ingredients all together, in a small bowl, until they're fully combined. Taste and add additional seasonings, if desired. Next, chop your iceberg lettuce, romaine lettuce, Persian cucumbers, and salami, and add them to a large bowl alongside the garbanzo beans, olives, diced tomatoes, and grated parmesan cheese.
Toss the salad to combine, then pour the dressing on top and toss once more until the salad ingredients are fully coated in the dressing. Taste your tossed salad, and top with more cheese, if desired Serve immediately, and enjoy Quick tip: for meal prep don’t place the salad dressing on the salad until your ready to eat it

One thing that I found to be true is that the world will make black men feel as if there is no place in it for them. If they want to live a joyful life from the moment, we are children we have people yelling at us, be a man which means we are not to express joy, any type of happiness or express any type of sadness. I’m here to correct the narrative as a black man I am proud to have a wife who have shown me that my joy is just as important to her as her own sense of joy. I admonish black men everywhere to find out what makes them happy and to go after it full heartedly with Passion and with vigor. It's time we redefine what it means to be a man, especially within our own communities. Embracing vulnerability is not a weakness; it’s an act of courage. It opens the door to genuine connections, personal growth, and a fulfilling life. Our joy is an essential part of our identity, and it deserves to be celebrated and nurtured.
We must dismantle the stereotypes that bind us and create spaces where we can express ourselves freely. Join groups, engage in conversations, and surround yourself with people who support your journey towards joy. Let us build a world where every black man feels empowered to smile, to laugh, and to live with authenticity.
Remember, joy is not a destination; it is a journey. Take each step with pride, knowing that your happiness contributes to a brighter, more inclusive future for all of us.
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where your budget doesn't align with your plans? I firmly believe in “beauty on a budget”, a principle I apply when working with clients who have limited financial resources. For instance, this dress was purchased from an outlet for just $35. Paired with my heels and perfectly done makeup, I feel like I've splurged for this special occasion.
I've alleviated the stress of this event by keeping in mind one simple, joyful truth: it’s the woman who brings life to the clothes, not the clothes that define the woman.
As a Brand Ambassador and Image Strategist I do not believe in adorning one life with excess and clutter! Instead, I advocate for a lifestyle that embraces simplicity and intentionality, where each item and decision aligns with one's true values and purpose. By focusing on quality (based on happiness) over quantity, we can create spaces and lives that not only reflect our authentic selves but also bring us joy and peace. It's about curating a life that feels both meaningful and fulfilling, where every element has a purpose and contributes to our overall well-being
My clients are astonished when I tell them to bring their favorite things to our photoshoots; because I know that the teddy bear off to the corner out of sight makes one feel a comfort and level of security that I nor any photographer can bring. The things that bring us joy have been frowned upon and replaced by a life that is full of facade and empty value.
When we surround ourselves with items that hold personal significance, we create an environment that supports our true identity and nurtures our emotional wellbeing. I encourage my clients to embrace these meaningful possessions, as they are powerful tools in telling their unique stories. Each cherished object carries memories and emotions, contributing to a narrative that is both genuine and inspiring.
In a world that often prioritizes appearances over authenticity, it's a radical act to choose a path of sincerity and depth. By celebrating the little things that spark joy, we make room for genuine happiness and contentment. This approach not only enhances the visual storytelling in my work but also empowers my clients to live more aligned and intentional lives.
when it comes to styling on a budget I use the SLT theory that removes stress and anxiety by using things that I already have in my possession. They are things that I treasure and repurpos. For instance a red bandanna can be work as a headband or a necktie; cute and joyful without the stress of being on trend because it never goes out of style!

Can you tell us about your journey as an artist? How did it all begin?
It started when I was a little girl I used to write lyrics to songs from melodies tjst would start to play in my mind. I expanded on my writing by writing screenplays for church events. I've always been a fan of art, music and culture.
My experiences inspire my work the most. I write from a place of vulnerability and truth. I've had a lot of hard experiences in my 38 years, but they gave me a resiliency that's unmatched. My relationship with Christ acts as the cornerstone of my life, giving me the courage to own my vulnerability.
How has your upbringing or cultural background influenced your art?
I grew up in 12 different states, my environment was consistently changing. Overtime, I learned to adapt by way of conformity While it gave me the ability to work with people from different cultures and backgrounds, I had to learn how to find my own. Who you see today, is that journey through self-reflection and learning who I am as a Black Woman born in America with African Ancestral roots. What themes or messages do you hope your art conveys?
Self-reflection, healing and growth. That there's beauty in being honest with yourself even when it's messy. It's possible to change your existence by challenging your mindset. I want people to feel like it's okay to be layered, to be complicated, and still be worthy.
Do you think art has a responsibility to comment on social or political issues?
Oh absolutely. One of my favorite eras in time is the Harlem Renaissance. This era is reflective of not just creativity, but resistance, culture and voice. I carry the same energy with my work, I know it speaks to being born in a time where it's needed. We as a people are fueled by power and creativity.

Every summer, my family piled into my mom’s gray station wagon and drove to Wildwood, NJ. She did not have a lot of resources. As a single mother of three, she worked multiple jobs to ensure we had everything we needed. We were secure. Our trips to Wildwood were more than a getaway. It was my mother’s way of building tradition that was rooted in rest, joy, and love. I remember helping to prepare food, pack the car, and stopping to fill up the gas tank. I even remember being carsick. Every. Single. Year. My mom modeled something I did not even realize I was learning from her. Rest. Joy. Freedom. Yes, you work hard—and you deserve to experience pleasure, leisure, and time off. As a mom of three young children, it is not uncommon for me to stay snuggled under a throw blanket on the sofa, while my children play nearby. They will see their mama doing absolutely nothing; and guess what? That is everything to me! I fiercely pursue my passions, and I intentionally carve out time for rest, play, and self-expression. I want my children to live fully in their purpose and to know they can be free from the trap of 24/7 performance and productivity. As the summer arrives, I invite you to reflect: what memories are you creating this summer? How are you modeling the values you hope your children will not only practice now, but carry forward as tradition? Make it meaningful!

June is Men’s Health Month. Men’s health is a vital but often overlooked component of public health. Men tend to visit doctors less frequently than women and are more likely to engage in risky behaviors, leading to shorter life expectancies and higher rates of preventable disease. By taking a proactive approach to health, men can lead longer, more fulfilling lives. Regular health check-ups help detect conditions early and provide an opportunity for preventive care.
Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death for men worldwide. Risk factors include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, poor diet, and lack of exercise. Regular cardiovascular screenings and heart-healthy lifestyle choices are essential. Men over 50 should discuss prostate cancer screening with their doctors Younger men, especially between ages 15–35, should be aware of testicular cancer symptoms and perform regular selfexams. Obesity increases the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and joint problems. A balanced diet and regular physical activity, including both aerobic and strength-training exercises, help maintain a healthy weight and metabolic function.
Men are less likely to seek help for mental health issues due to stigma, cultural expectations, and lack of awareness. However, suicide rates among men are significantly higher than women in most countries. Common mental health concerns include Depression, Anxiety and Substance abuse. Erectile dysfunction (ED) can be an early sign of cardiovascular disease. It’s important not to ignore changes in sexual function. Fertility issues, STIs, and safe sex practices are also essential components of men ’ s health Some Healthy Living Tips for Men includes 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity weekly, eating vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains. Sleep for 7–9 hours per night, Avoid tobacco and limit alcohol.
Men’s health is more than the absence of disease it’s a lifelong commitment to physical, emotional, and social well-being. By taking charge of their health, men can lead longer, more productive lives. The key is prevention, awareness, and action.

You don’t have to be religious to sense that God is doing something for His children The playing field is about to be leveled
A transfer of wealth is currently taking place in the Spiritual Realm. Proverbs 13:22 states, "The wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just."
Earlier this year, many Spiritual Leaders have conveyed that God has addressed the unjust actions of this System of things His people and will no longer overlook the wrongdoing in the Marketplace. He reminds us of Proverbs 13:11: "Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but he who gathers by hand makes it grow." Now is the moment to organize your financial affairs and embrace good stewardship.
Studies consistently prove that women who network are 65% more successful than their peers who are afraid to admit that they may need help.
Building connections not only leads to career advancement but also fosters a supportive community where individuals can share resources, insights, and encouragement. In today's fast-paced world, having a strong network can be a gamechanger, offering opportunities for collaboration and innovation that might otherwise remain out of reach By embracing the power of networking, women can inspire each other, break through barriers, and create a legacy of empowerment for future generations Whether through professional organizations, social media groups, or community events, the potential to learn and grow is limitless when we come together and lift each other up.
I will never apologize for my authentic love for my sisters, as I understand that few endure struggles like we do If I were to disregard Black women, it would make me unfaithful to our shared experiences
