CONCERT KICKOFF June 07 vS. edMOntOn

Welcome to Save-On-Foods Field at BC Place for the BC Lions home opener! Tonight, we kick off the regular season in style with a big West Division matchup against the Edmonton Elks. After a strong training camp, our squad is ready to make a statement—and there’s no better place to do it than right here in front of our home crowd. Expect high energy, big plays, and that undeniable roar that only Lions fans can bring.

But the action isn’t just on the field. We’re celebrating in a big way—with over 50,000 fans in the stands, a massive Robson Street Backyard Party, and a pre-game concert by none other than Snoop Dogg. Whether you’re here for the football, the music, or just the electric atmosphere, this night is all about coming together to celebrate the start of something special. Let’s make this a season to remember—Go Lions!

5 THINGS TO KNOW: ELKS VS. LIONS

Plenty has changed in the 218 days since their 2024 Grey Cup aspirations came to a crashing halt in Saskatchewan. With a new head coach, a rejuvenated quarterback and a newfound nastiness on both sides of the line of scrimmage, this year’s BC Lions squad is ready to prove they are worth being in the discussion. The 71st regular season gets going on Saturday against an Edmonton Elks team that is equally motivated for a turnaround.

BUCKING A NEW TREND

May 16th marked the 20th anniversary of Buck Pierce’s first arrival in British Columbia as an unheralded quarterback out of New Mexico State. Officially named the 28th head coach in the club’s 70-year history on Tuesday, Pierce admits he never thought coming back in this capacity would be a reality. After all, the priority in 2005 was simply proving he could play professionally in a country that was still foreign to him. It’s safe to say he passed that test with flying colours.

And while the skyline of Surrey near club headquarters features several more high-rises and he may have to get used to rush hour traffic on King George Boulevard at all hours of the day and evening, his first few hours in the office already feel like old times. Now the work begins for the 43-year-old first-time head coach who emerged from a group of several solid candidates.
