With a passion for design excellence and a dedication to client satisfaction, we bring visions to life, shaping tomorrow’s landscapes one project at a time.
This month ended up being a momentous one.
WHAT A MONTH!!! The sun came out (finally)…I am writing to you just days before I jet off on holiday… AND we WON an AJ100 Award. And not just any award but the Community Impact Award – for our very special project the Mary Ward Centre. I could not be happier for the project, our client and the delivery team – what a team and what a special combination. To me this project is unique in so many ways but particularly, and its success is largely attributed to this, in that it is born from a collaboration between client, building, design and marketing team and a shared understanding of ethos and culture. Challenges were met head on and the team delivered time and time again because they believed in the project and because it’s inhabitants mattered to them. This is more than just architecture this is a design for life. Not only this, we were able to celebrate our climb back up the AJ100 rankings, which is fantastic.
If you’ve not read the AJ article which contains the judge’s comments on the project then make sure you do, it’s a good read! Link here. Huge congratulations to all involved, we’re immensely proud.
In June we also marked National EO (Employee Ownership) Day, with a social media campaign that championed all of you – the people behind the practice – and it reminded me of how far we’ve come and what an incredible team we have driving us forward. As you know, part of being an EOT empowers you all to help the business thrive, therefore we’re looking to work with you on developing network and business development opportunities that suit you – to help us do this please complete the questionnaire that can be found here on
page 19. You may have noticed our 2024 cohort of work experience students have started to appear and the feedback we’re receiving is unanimously positive. Thank you very much to all those who are involved in the support and mentoring of the students, we are aware of the time and energy it takes and really appreciate it – as do the students. A good work experience can be career defining.
We welcome two new starters to London; Xenos and Maciej and Emma is home from maternity leave, it’s great to have you back!
I’ll be sure to send home a picture or two of my travels and update you all when I’m back, until then, thank you for a fantastic month. Here’s to the next!

Community Impact
Last Friday the Mary Ward Adult Education Centre took home the Architects’ Journal Community Impact Award 2024!
AWW’s Collaboration with Mary Ward Adult Education
At AWW, we believe that success comes from more than just delivering a project on time and within budget. It stems from a deep understanding of our client’s culture, ethos, and a commitment to going above and beyond to exceed expectations. Our recent collaboration with Mary Ward Adult Education in Stratford, London is a testament to this belief.
From the outset, our AWW team embraced the unique values and aspirations of Mary Ward Adult Education. We took the time to immerse ourselves in their mission, understanding the critical role they play in providing adult education and fostering community growth. This understanding was pivotal in shaping a project that not only meets but surpasses the needs and desires of both our client and the learners they serve.
Embedding Social Value
One of the cornerstones of this project was our shared commitment to embedding and championing social value. Together with Mary Ward Adult Education, we ensured that every decision, from the initial design phase to the final construction, was made with the community’s needs at the forefront. We actively sought input from learners and educators, ensuring that their voices were heard and their needs addressed.
This collaborative approach allowed us to create a space that is not just functional but also inspirational. It’s a building designed to foster learning, creativity, and community engagement. Every element, from the layout to the materials used, was chosen with care to reflect the ethos of Mary Ward Adult Education and to support their mission.
“Clearly the staff and users are really enjoying their new space. There’s definitely the sense that it’s a game-changer for the organisation It was wonderful to see how everyone really pushed to get the most they could from the budget by working together in a really direct way.”

Bringing Something Special to Stratford
We’re incredibly proud to bring something truly special to Stratford, London. This new facility is not just a building; it’s a beacon of opportunity and growth for the community. It represents a space where people can come to learn, to grow, and to achieve their potential. It’s a place that learners have expressed a genuine need for, and it’s been crafted with their input and aspirations in mind.
The feedback from our client and the learners has been overwhelmingly positive. They tell us that this is exactly what they needed — a building that is fit for purpose, thoughtful, and brimming with promise. It’s a space that not only meets their current needs but also has the flexibility to adapt and grow with them in the future.
