B WHERE'S WALLY SHOWCASE Our talented Year 9 and 10 Performing Arts Academy students have been working hard in preparation for their upcoming performance, Where's Wally, to be held in the Avondale College theatre this Thursday evening from 6pm.

The hour-long show will feature students from each of the four performance strands: Classical Music, Jazz, Drama and Dance, with each item connecting in some way to our favourite red-stripe-wearing book character... Admission is free - don't miss it!

SPORTS REPORT Monday 6th November - Sunday 12th November

CRICKET

The 1st XI Boys match against Glendowie College at Avondale was a close match.

Avondale College batted first and were bowled out in 39 overs, scoring 108 runs.

Top run scorer was Liam Robertson and a good innings from Mihir Patil who held the innings together for the team and remained not out until the end.

The team displayed an awesome bowling and fielding performance in the second innings. They bowled Glendowie College out in the 33rd over with 90 runs on the board. Top wicket taker Lathira Fonseka completed his 10 overs which included 4 maiden overs and 3 wickets.

Avondale College winning by 18 runs and remain at the top of Pool 1.

2nd XI Boys had a 7 wicket win over King's Senior A1 at King's College. King's won the toss electing to bat, scoring 89 all out in 21 overs with Parth Tailor getting 5 wickets. In reply, Avondale reached the total in just 17 overs with Elyaas Sayed Akbar scoring 53 runs.

The girls have still managed to gain a semifinal spot and will most likely be facing Waitakere College who were the only team to have defeated the girls so far this season.

Athletics

Round 2 of the Secondary Schools Challenge Cup has seen a significant increase in schools (36 so far) participating and vying for the cup. Our group had suffered from a few niggly injuries from various weekly sports activities which had meant we did not field as strong a team as we had Round 1.

Special mentions on the field go to Deja Rees who went well out of her comfortzone and entered the Javelin (placing 2nd) and Hammer (placing 3rd) events for measurements and points! Also to Jaspar Hipkins who entered the Triple Jump also as a first-timer, and placed 1st in his age grade.

High Jump saw Tremayne Redman-Gardner clearing 1.60m and achieving a 2nd placing

over a dominant opponent. Taeao Mann Delamere showed all class at the Triple Jump achieving a 2nd placing in the womens U18 grade with a jump of 9.04m – a fantastic result for the start of the season.

On the Track, Faith Faumui & Elli Morris showed power and sheer grit in their heats, clocking up some fantastic sprint times, with Elli winning her U18 womens grade in the 100m. Lex Revell-Lewis, Jaspar Hipkins and Tremayne Redman-Gardner also took to the track – sprinting the 100m and 200m in heats after Joseph Millar (current Senior Men’s 100m and 200m NZ Champion). Lex won both in his grade and added the 800m win to his kit, achieving a personal best of 2:22.26 min. Jaspar also ran the 800m, placing 3rd in his age grade with a personal best of 2:32.76 min.

Round 3 on Saturday 18 November should see a few more athletes come out to contest the points. Our athletes and families are looking forward to the challenge.

Year 10 boys defeated Auckland Grammar by 6 wickets.

TAUREWA CAMP 2017 Year 13, Year 12 and Year 10 students have the opportunity to go to Taurewa Camp. We encourage families to start making early regular payments towards the Taurewa camp fee, as the camp fee must be fully paid prior to departure.

Year 10 students will receive their first briefing for their camp approximately 10 weeks before departure, but students are encouraged to tell their parents early that their camps are coming up this year.
