Avondale College students have gained outstanding results in their NCEA and Cambridge exams in 2017! Our achievement in NCEA has increased across all levels, and is well above the national performance levels in all year groups. Our University Entrance results have also increased, and at 71% is 11 points higher than the national average of 60%. Of particular note is the achievement of our Maori students, who are achieving well above the norms for not only Maori but all students in New Zealand. In the Cambridge International Examinations, our students once again performed extremely well. Two students gained the top marks in New Zealand for their subject: Ruohao (Howard) Mao in Applied ICT (AS Level) and Jesslyn Chen in Psychology (AS Level). This is the second year in a row that an Avondale College student has topped the Psychology examination - and both were taught by Ms Grace Williams. Our achievement in CIE continues to impress, with a 93% pass rate achieved at Year 11 and 96% at A Level. New Zealand Scholarship results were received yesterday, with Avondale College students achieving 31 Scholarships, including one Outstanding Scholarship (Akhilesh Madhur for Physics) and four students (Christine Sun, Bailey Tang, Helena May and Changji (Alex) Hua ) gaining scholarships while still in Year 12.

ORMAT ION Avondale College is bidding a fond farewell to Deputy Principal Kiely Murphy, who will be leaving New Zealand with her family to pursue new adventures overseas. Mrs Murphy has been at Avondale College for four years, where she has held the portfolio of Deputy Principal in charge of student services. Her contribution to the College in many areas has been significant, and her warmth, positivity and commitment to excellence have been appreciated by all.
