Whether stopping by for a night out, shopping local vendors, or enjoying time outside, there is plenty happening.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at the Night Market

The Happy Go Lucky Night Market on March 15 brings the community together for an evening of shopping, food, and live entertainment. Downtown Avalon Park will be lined with local vendors offering handcrafted goods, delicious bites, and festive fun. The Brown Bag Brass Band will take the stage, filling the air with lively Irish music.

Explore Art & Culture at the Cultural Kaleidoscope Art Reception

Celebrate artistic expression and cultural diversity at the Cultural Kaleidoscope Art Reception on March 15 from 6-8 PM at the Avalon Park Arts & Culture Center. This exhibition features a collection of bold, vibrant works that showcase the rich patterns, intricate textures, and unique inspirations of different cultures. Artists share their perspectives through visually stunning pieces, making this a must-see event for art lovers and the community alike. The exhibition runs from February 28 to April 30, so if you can’t make the reception, be sure to stop by and experience this cultural showcase before it’s gone!

Latin Night at the Marketplace

The Marketplace at Avalon Park will host Latin Night on March 8, featuring Latin music, dancing, and a lively atmosphere. All food vendors will be open, offering a variety of options to enjoy while taking in the music. Whether grabbing a meal or a drink or joining in on the dancing, it’s a great way to spend the evening.

Music, Trivia, and More at the Marketplace

The Marketplace at Avalon Park will also feature live music and weekly trivia nights throughout the month. Trivia takes place every Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, with prizes for the top teams. Guests can grab food from one of the Marketplace’s many vendors and test their knowledge in a fun, casual setting.

Food Truck Night Returns

Food Truck Night on March 16 brings a variety of food trucks to Town Park, offering everything from street tacos to gourmet comfort food. It’s a great opportunity to try something new while enjoying the outdoors with friends and family.

Book Club at Avalon General

The Murder Book Club will meet on March 19 to discuss Death in Disguise by Carolyn Graham. Hosted at Avalon General, the book club is a chance to connect with fellow readers and dive into a great mystery.

Outdoor Fun for the Whole Family

Families can enjoy time outside at Kite Day on March 29th at Town Park. The open space and fresh air make for the perfect setting to fly a kite and enjoy a relaxing afternoon.

The Community Camp Out also on March 29th offers an overnight experience under the stars. Families can set up tents, roast marshmallows, and enjoy time together outdoors. Reserve a campsite here.

most in that time, I would say: everything. And yet, the one thing that has remained constant is that change itself never stops. The ability to innovate and adapt has always been essential, but in 2025, it is more critical than ever.

One of my earliest business trips from Switzerland to the U.S. was 35 years ago. Back then, there were no smartphones, no internet, and no real-time updates from colleagues on the other side of the world. If I wanted to know what was happening back at the office, I had to wait until I returned. Today, we live in an era of instant connectivity. When I wake up, I already have reports from global offices, emails piling up, and meetings scheduled across time zones with the click of a button. The pace of business has accelerated exponentially, and companies must innovate to keep up.

In past generations, stability was the hallmark of a successful career. In Switzerland, it was common for people to finish school, secure a job at a major bank, and stay there until retirement—often for over four decades. Those banks, once pillars of stability, no longer exist as they once did. The same applies to businesses worldwide. No industry is immune to disruption, and innovation is the only way forward.

The business landscape of 2025 is vastly different from what it was even a decade ago. Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, automation, and blockchain are redefining industries. Companies that fail to innovate are being left behind. Consider the rapid decline of once-dominant brands that failed to evolve. The lesson is clear: standing still is not an option.

testing a new product. Others are more significant, like expanding into new markets or shifting an entire business model. The biggest risk, however, is taking none at all. As Mark Zuckerberg famously said, “The biggest risk is not taking any risk. In a world that is changing so rapidly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks.” If you are not innovating, you’re falling behind.

One of the reasons the U.S. remains a global leader in innovation is its culture of resilience. In many parts of the world, business failure carries a stigma. Here, entrepreneurs are encouraged to try, fail, learn, and try again. Some of the most successful businesses today were born from previous failures. This mindset—where failure is seen as a stepping stone rather than a dead end—fuels continuous innovation.

In 2025, innovation is not just about technology; it is about mindset. Businesses that thrive will be those that foster creativity, embrace change, and continuously seek new ways to add value.

As the AdventHealth saying goes, “Tomorrow Starts Today.” If you’re ready to take your business to the next level, now is the time to act. Let’s work together to turn innovation into opportunity.

Whether it’s relaxing on your balcony, exploring Avalon Park, or enjoying the community amenities, take some time to enjoy the outdoors. March marks the beginning of festival and outdoor activity season in Orlando. Plan ahead for local events, weekend outings, or a day at the park. Whether it is the Night Markets in Avalon Park, Food Truck Nights or Live Music at the Marketplace, there’s no shortage of spring fun in the area.

Why You Need an Umbrella Insurance Policy in Florida

When you think about insurance, you may picture homeowners, auto, or renter’s policies—these are typically the basics that most people secure. However, as you build assets or take on more responsibility, it’s important to consider additional protection. In Florida, the need for an umbrella insurance policy is more critical than ever. At The White Agency, Inc, we’re committed to helping you safeguard your financial future with the right coverage. Here’s why an umbrella policy should be part of your insurance portfolio.

What is Umbrella Insurance?

Umbrella insurance provides extra liability coverage beyond what your homeowners or auto insurance policies offer. It’s designed to protect you against large claims or lawsuits that exceed the limits of your primary policies. Essentially, an umbrella policy acts as a safety net, stepping in when other insurance limits are exhausted. The White Agency, Inc specializes in helping Florida residents find the right umbrella policy to fit their unique needs.

The Unique Risks in Florida Florida presents specific risks that make umbrella insurance a wise choice. Here are a few reasons why working with The White Agency, Inc can help protect you:

1. Weather-Related Claims: Florida’s reputation for severe storms, hurricanes, and floods is well-known. In the unfortunate event that you cause property damage or injuries during a storm, umbrella insurance can help cover legal fees and damage claims that go beyond your homeowner’s or auto insurance limits.

2. Car Accidents: Florida has one of the highest rates of car accidents in the U.S., partly due to its population density and traffic. If you’re involved in an accident that causes significant damage or injuries, your auto insurance may not fully cover the costs. The White Agency, Inc can help you secure an umbrella policy to bridge the gap, ensuring you don’t face financial ruin in the event of a major claim.

3. Lawsuits: Florida is known for its litigious environment. If you’re sued for any reason—whether due to a car accident, slip-and-fall incident, or injury that occurs on your property—your basic insurance might not be enough to cover the legal expenses and settlements. An umbrella policy through The White Agency, Inc can step in and protect your assets in these high-stakes situations.

4. Increased Property Value: As property values rise, especially in Florida’s highly desirable coastal areas, so does your risk exposure. If someone is injured on your property or if you are responsible for an accident, an umbrella policy can offer additional protection to ensure you’re not paying out-of-pocket for large legal fees or settlements. Let The White Agency, Inc help you find a policy that keeps up with your property’s

value.

What Does Umbrella Insurance Cover?

An umbrella policy offers protection in a variety of situations, including:

• Bodily injury: If someone is injured on your property, during an accident, or in a situation where you’re found liable.

• Property damage: If you accidentally damage someone else’s property, like crashing into a neighbor’s fence or causing a fire that damages surrounding homes.

• Legal fees: Covers the legal costs if you’re sued for negligence, libel, slander, or other claims against you.

• Personal liability: If you’re sued for non-vehiclerelated incidents, such as a dog bite or an injury on your property.

How Much Coverage Do You Need?

Most umbrella policies start with a minimum coverage amount of $1 million. While this might seem like a lot, considering Florida’s legal environment and the potential costs of medical bills, property damage, and legal fees, it’s relatively affordable. You can purchase additional coverage depending on your needs, and The White Agency, Inc can help you determine the right amount for your specific situation.

Affordable Protection for Peace of Mind

One of the best parts about umbrella insurance is that it’s usually quite affordable. For just a few hundred dollars a year, you can protect yourself and your family from catastrophic financial burdens. Considering the potential costs of lawsuits or accidents, the investment is well worth it for added peace of mind. The White Agency, Inc is here to provide the guidance and expertise you need to secure the best coverage at the best price.

The Bottom Line

Living in Florida comes with its own set of risks, especially when it comes to natural disasters, car accidents, and lawsuits. An umbrella policy is a smart, cost-effective way to ensure that your assets are protected from unforeseen financial burdens. Whether you own a home, have a high net worth, or just want to sleep better at night, an umbrella insurance policy through The White Agency, Inc can provide the security and peace of mind that you need. Don’t wait until it’s too late - contact The White Agency, Inc today to add an umbrella policy to your insurance portfolio!

Stone Lakes Elementary Provides Sensory Resource to Students with Disabilities

One of the amazing things you will find at Stone Lakes Elementary is a culture of awareness, acceptance, and inclusion for students with disabilities. Besides being an A-rated school, Stone Lakes also has five self-contained classes for students with disabilities, including many students with autism. These separate classes provide small-group services determined by a student’s Individual Education Plan and allow for students to receive specialized instruction in academics, communication, independent functioning, and social-emotional skills.

Additionally, inclusion is a top priority at Stone Lakes, and the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) teachers and general education teachers work together to provide as many inclusion opportunities as possible based on the progress and success of each individual student. Based on the current school year’s numbers, 26% of students enrolled at Stone Lakes Elementary are receiving ESE services, and there are currently 50 students in the separate class setting. With such a large impact on the school, it is important to find innovative ways to uphold Orange County Public School’s mission statement to “[use the] support of families and community to create enriching and diverse pathways to lead our students to success”. One barrier to student success is that the structure of a typical elementary school classroom, with bright lights, fast-paced instruction, and larger numbers of students, may contribute to the over- or under-stimulation of students with sensory processing difficulties, including students with autism. A resource needed to be created to allow these students time, space, and tools to learn self-regulation skills in order to meet their needs and learn most effectively.

The solution at Stone Lakes Elementary was the creation of the new SPACE Room (Sensory Processing Activity Center for Enrichment), which opened as a resource for the self-contained classes at the end of February. In this room, students are able to rotate through three space-themed centers; they engage in gross-motor activities in the ‘Astronaut Training Facility’, explore senses and practice fine motor skills in a ‘Research Laboratory’, and practice self-regulation and calming strategies in the ‘Calm Space’. Students visit the room following a daily designated schedule, and this time is used not only to provide movement and a break from the classroom, but also to work on students’ social-emotional goals such as identifying feelings, practicing calming and self-regulation strategies, engaging in leisure skills, using materials functionally, communicating wants and needs, turn-taking, and problem-solving skills.

Kim Coppola is one of the self-contained ESE teachers at Stone Lakes Elementary, and she has been teaching students with autism for over 20 years. Ms. Coppola finds that rooms like the SPACE room are “critical for the educational success of our students with autism, as it provides them with opportunities to address their sensory needs through various modalities.” She enjoyed sharing the opening of the SPACE Room with her Kindergarten students, and has found that the thoughtfully designed room has “truly made a difference in their educational and social-emotional development.”

The SPACE Room has taken years of planning, fundraising, and hard work to get to this point, and it could not have been possible without the support of the Avalon Park community and beyond. In fact, one of the first and most substantial donations was from GMTNS (Give Me Time and Space), a California-based company founded by 18-year-old Adam

Le with the inspiration to support children with autism like Adam’s younger brother, Andrew. Additionally, local small businesses like Ellie Mental Health and Dina Brady Life Coaching, as well as Stone Lakes staff and parents, helped contribute to the opening of the SPACE Room to the students.

The progress has been astounding, but the work is not yet done. With a goal to sustain the resource for a minimum of 10 years, ongoing community collaboration is imperative in order to maintain the space, replenish equipment, and provide alternative tools and activities to allow for generalization and maintenance of skills. A SPACE Room Wish List has been created on Amazon and is updated frequently with the highest-need items, and the school will also rely on community donations of gently used tools and activities that could help sustain the project. Currently, the highly requested items for the SPACE Room include timers, sensory bin fillers, cleaning supplies, and fine motor activities such as magnetic blocks and puzzles. If you would like to be one of the amazing community members contributing to Stone Lakes Elementary’s new SPACE Room and helping maintain this resource for our local students with disabilities, please scan the attached QR code to access the Amazon Wishlist.

With the help of a strong community like Avalon Park, along with the hard work and passion of our dedicated teachers, we are able to take our public school from typical to exceptional and provide for some of our highest-need children. Resources like those provided in the SPACE Room will not only help students succeed with being ready to learn in their current educational environments, but also support the long-term goal of acquisition and generalization of skills that will help them through other educational settings, and eventually become successful adult members of our great community.

WORK

Making Money Doing What You Love: The Roadmap to a Successful Hobby-Based Business

Turning a beloved hobby into a profitable business is a dream for many, but it requires more than just passion and talent. While enthusiasm provides the foundation, success depends on careful planning, market understanding, and adaptability. To make the leap from hobbyist to entrepreneur, you need to assess the viability of your passion, develop a business strategy, and stay resilient in the face of setbacks.

Assessing Market Demand Before Taking the Leap

Loving what you do isn’t enough—you need to determine if there’s a real market for it. Conducting research on potential customers, pricing models, and trends will help you gauge demand. Many hobbyists assume that just because friends and family love their work, the broader market will, too. However, true demand comes from people willing to pay for your product or service consistently, not just those who support you out of personal loyalty.

Transitioning from Hobbyist to Entrepreneur Mindset

A hobby is done for enjoyment, but a business must be run with structure, efficiency, and profitability in mind. This shift requires setting clear goals, developing a financial plan, and thinking strategically about growth. You’ll also need to track expenses, optimize workflows, and make decisions based on numbers rather than emotions. If you don’t embrace the entrepreneur mindset, you risk running your business like an expensive pastime rather than a sustainable income source.

Developing Your Business Skills

Taking courses toward a business degree can equip you with the skills needed to manage your venture effectively, from financial planning to strategic decision-making. The right program will provide essential knowledge in accounting, communications, marketing, and management, giving you a strong foundation for running a successful business. Many entrepreneurs worry about balancing education with their growing company, but online degree programs allow for self-pacing so you can more easily manage your studies and your business. If you’re looking for a flexible way to strengthen your expertise, this page deserves a look for valuable insights into business education options.

Turning a hobby into a business means embracing financial responsibility, from budgeting and pricing to taxes and cash flow management. Many new entrepreneurs struggle with setting prices that reflect both material costs and the value of their time. Underpricing can lead to burnout and financial strain, while overpricing can push customers away. Learning

how to track expenses, manage profits, and reinvest in growth will determine the long-term sustainability of your business.

Building a Brand That Resonates

A strong brand sets successful businesses apart from casual hobbyists. Your brand is more than a logo—it’s the story, identity, and voice that customers connect with. Creating a compelling brand involves defining your mission, crafting a consistent aesthetic, and using social media to engage with your audience. Whether you’re selling handmade goods, offering services, or producing digital content, branding helps you stand out in a crowded market and build lasting customer loyalty.

Dealing with Competition and Standing Out

No matter how unique your hobby feels, chances are, someone else is already making money from something similar. Competition is inevitable, but differentiation is key. Identify what makes your business special— whether it’s quality, customer service, or a distinct niche—and lean into that. Instead of seeing competition as a threat, use it as motivation to refine your offerings, improve marketing strategies, and continuously innovate.

Staying Resilient Through Challenges and Setbacks

Entrepreneurship is full of highs and lows, and transforming a hobby into a business isn’t always smooth sailing. Slow sales, creative burnout, and self-doubt can test your commitment. The key to long-term success is resilience—adapting to challenges, learning from failures, and staying focused on your goals. If you’re truly passionate about what you do, pushing through obstacles will feel like a necessary part of the journey rather than a reason to quit.

While turning a hobby into a business is exciting, it’s also a test of discipline, adaptability, and perseverance. Passion alone won’t guarantee success, but when combined with market awareness, smart financial management, and a commitment to growth, it can become the foundation for a thriving enterprise. The transition requires you to think beyond creativity and embrace the responsibilities of entrepreneurship. If you’re willing to invest the time, effort, and strategy, your hobby could evolve into a career that not only sustains you financially but also continues to bring you joy.

Tech Tools for Better Customer Service: Making Things Easier and More Satisfying

Technology has completely changed how businesses handle customer service. Adopting the right tools in a world where everything moves fast can make interactions smoother, more efficient, and ultimately more satisfying for customers. Whether answering questions quickly or making life easier with self-service options, technology helps businesses create experiences that leave a lasting impression. Let’s explore how you can use tech to step up your customer service game.

AI Chatbots: Instant Help Around the Clock

Ever been stuck waiting for a response? AI chatbots solve that problem by offering instant, 24/7 customer support. These little virtual helpers can answer common questions, guide users through simple processes, or troubleshoot basic issues. They’re perfect for businesses that want to provide fast service without overwhelming their team. The key is finding a chatbot that fits your needs; look for features like natural language processing (so it understands what people are actually asking), scalability (to handle busy times), and customization (so it feels like part of your brand).

Reverse Phone Lookup: Providing Tailored Support

Reverse phone lookup can enhance customer service by quickly identifying callers, reducing wait times, and personalizing interactions. By retrieving customer details before answering a call, businesses can provide more efficient and tailored support. It also helps verify identities, prevent fraud, and streamline follow-ups. If you need to improve response times and customer satisfaction, you could try this tool to gain instant insights and create a smoother service experience.

Omnichannel Communication: Seamless Connections Everywhere

Your customers might reach out through email, social media, live chat, or even a good old-fashioned phone call. Keeping all these channels organized can be tricky, which is where omnichannel communication tools come in. These tools bring everything together, so no matter how a customer contacts you, your team can pick up the conversation without missing a beat. This makes the whole process feel seamless for the customer and helps

your team work more efficiently.

Self-Service Portals: Helping Customers Help Themselves

Sometimes, customers just want to solve problems themselves. Self-service portals give them the power to find answers, troubleshoot minor problems, or manage their accounts without needing to contact support. The best self-service platforms are easy to navigate and contain helpful resources like FAQs, how-to guides, and discussion forums. Look for features like intuitive search bars and options for submitting tickets if further help is needed. Giving customers this independence boosts satisfaction and takes some of the pressure off your team.

Feedback and Surveys: Listening to What Matters

You can’t improve if you don’t know what’s working (or what isn’t). Surveys and feedback tools give customers a chance to share their thoughts, helping you understand their needs and identify areas for improvement. Keep your surveys short and focused, with straightforward questions that lead to actionable insights. Once you’ve gathered the data, use it to make meaningful changes to your services or processes. Customers appreciate when their voices are heard, showing them you’re committed to improving.

Data Analytics: Smarter Decisions, Happier Customers

Data is your best friend when it comes to improving customer service. Analytics tools can help you track patterns, spot problems, and even predict what customers might need next. For example, if you notice a spike in inquiries at certain times, you can adjust staffing to meet demand. Or, if there’s a common complaint, you can address it before it becomes a bigger issue. Pick analytics tools that integrate smoothly with your other systems, like your CRM, so you can see the whole picture without juggling multiple platforms.

Social Listening: Staying in Tune with Customers

Social media isn’t just for marketing – it’s also a crucial part of customer service. Social listening tools let you watch what people say about your business so you can respond quickly to questions, complaints, or compliments. The right tool will help you track mentions, monitor sentiment, and jump into conversations at the right time. Being present and proactive will strengthen relationships with your audience and show them you’re paying attention.

Technology isn’t just a nice-to-have in customer service – it’s essential. From AI chatbots to self-service portals, these tools make life easier for your team and customers. By adopting the right solutions, you’ll create a smoother, more satisfying experience that builds trust and loyalty. Start small, focus on what your business needs most, and watch as these tools help you improve your customer service. After all, happy customers are the best kind.

Building Rapport Through Client’s Hobbies

Rapport is a core component of the therapeutic relationship. It is the foundation to creating a safe space, which allows for deeper therapeutic work. Every therapist has their own style and methods to building rapport and creating mutual trust and respect. With my own experiences, I have gained insight into a simple, yet effective way: bonding over hobbies and interests.

I’m passionate about video games, movies, and other media entertainment – “nerd culture”. Working with children, teenagers, and young adults, these populations very often enjoy nerd culture as well, and it comes up not only in early sessions of starting to build rapport, but throughout treatment to check-in on client’s activities and daily life, to measure their functioning, and to continue building rapport, as trust, safety, and comfort are continuously built.

Inviting the client to speak on their hobbies and interest, and by disclosing that you also engage in their hobby, there is a spark with the client, as a connection is forming the therapeutic relationship. It also gives them validation, as in the case of nerd culture, some may be embarrassed about what they enjoy.

Continuing with therapeutic skills – support, validation, deep-listening, reflecting, and empathy – the safe space is created along with the relation of shared hobbies. It is also important for the

therapist to consider cultural context and personal experiences. These are always important factors for therapy, and learning the client’s hobbies can give the therapist further insight into the client’s personal experience, culture, background, and spirituality. Lastly, building rapport can assist clients who have social skills as an objective. In discussing their hobby, you can practice roleplaying conversations, and make it more engaging.

Rapport will take time, thus it’s important to remember therapy goes at the client’s pace. This varies with every client, as they are all individually unique. Not every client is comfortable with sharing their hobbies in the first session, as some may take weeks, or months, to share with their therapist and truly begin to build trust and rapport. There may even be the possibility that the therapist and client just don’t vibe. Recognizing a client’s subtle cues and gestures are important, but sometimes it can be difficult. A useful method is to check-in with the client to ask how the relationship and treatment are from their perspective, and how they are progressing with their therapeutic work. Strong rapport will bring honesty.

Supporting Local Businesses: What to Do If You’re Injured on Their Property

Local businesses, from cozy coffee shops to charming boutiques, are the heartbeat of any community. They create jobs, foster relationships, and add unique character to neighborhoods. However, accidents can happen, and if you’re injured on a local business’s property, it’s important to know your rights and how to handle the situation.

Premises liability refers to the responsibility of property owners to maintain a safe environment for visitors. If you slip on a wet floor, trip over a misplaced item, or suffer an injury due to unsafe conditions, the business may be liable for your damages. However, proving fault can sometimes be tricky.

If you’re injured, here are the steps you should take:

1. Seek medical attention immediately, even if the injury seems minor.

2. Report the incident to the business owner or manager to document the situation.

3. Take photos of the scene, especially if there are hazardous conditions involved.

4. Gather witness information to strengthen your case.

5. Consult an attorney experienced in personal injury or premises liability law to explore your options.

Remember, local businesses rely on customer trust, so they are often eager to resolve accidents fairly. Your well-being should always come first!
