Twenty-seven years ago, in June 1998, I was not running through Avalon Park Orlando, but rather inspecting infrastructure construction in Live Oak Village—the first village built in Avalon Park—driving in an SUV and sometimes getting stuck in the mud.
We have come a long way from the 100+ cows to around 50,000 residents within a 3-mile radius of Avalon Park Orlando.
If somebody had asked me almost three decades ago whether I would be running through Downtown Avalon Park in the summer of 2025, I would have been skeptical. Well, I just did today, and the memories are coming back of when we started to build a city from scratch.
Has summer changed over the decades in Avalon Park? Well, not the heat and humidity. However, back around the turn of the millennium, it often felt that the majority of residents in Central Florida were “snowbirds,” leaving in the summer and returning in the fall.
These days, summer in Avalon Park is no longer a quiet season of escape—it has become a vibrant time filled with opportunity, activity,

the neighborhood, is part of what makes Avalon Park so special. And now, we are well on our way to creating that same experience in Avalon Park Wesley Chapel.
As we approach the final phases of building out Avalon Park Orlando, my lasting hope for that community is the establishment of a true regional park—a space large enough to serve the needs of a growing population with recreational fields, gathering spaces, and natural areas for all to enjoy. Looking ahead, we are applying the lessons learned in Orlando to our planning in Wesley Chapel, and that includes beginning conversations with local government early on to ensure we can secure the right resources and partnerships for a similar amenity here.
A regional park is not just a nice addition—it is a critical part of building a complete, healthy, and connected town. That is why we want to hear from you. What kind of recreational space would you love to see in Avalon Park Wesley Chapel? Whether it is soccer fields, nature trails, community gardens, or all of the above, your input matters. Please share your ideas by sending an email to info@AvalonParkSun. com—we look forward to hearing from you and building this next chapter together.
I hope to see you at our annual 4th of July event, Friday, July 4th, 5-9 pm.

2. Use Fans Wisely
Set your ceiling fan to rotate counter-clockwise to help circulate cool air more effectively.

AdventHealth is the first hospital in Wesley Chapel to offer Aquablation® therapy with the new HYDROS™ Robotic System, the nextgeneration platform to treat men suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), commonly known as an enlarged prostate. Aquablation therapy, now delivered by an AI-powered robotic system, is clinically proven to provide significant, durable BPH symptom relief while preserving sexual function and continence across prostates of all shapes and sizes.
BPH is an unfortunate reality of aging for millions of men and impacts urinary function, making it difficult to urinate and fully empty the bladder. Common indicators that a man may be experiencing BPH are the need to urinate immediately or urgently, urinating more often than normal and urinating frequently at night. Without timely treatment, BPH can lead to severe health issues such as permanent bladder or kidney damage, bladder stones and incontinence. One in two men ages 51-60 have BPH and 99 percent of men say BPH impacts their quality of life. The standard treatment option today is surgery, but this has been shown to impact sexual function and continence.
Aquablation therapy was designed to offer a minimally invasive and effective solution for BPH, minimizing the need for men to choose between safety and efficacy. Aquablation therapy is unique in its use of real-time, ultrasound-guided, robotic-
assisted waterjet technology, allowing surgeons to create a personalized treatment plan that precisely targets which prostate tissue to remove and which to preserve. With this tailored approach, the system accurately removes problematic tissue while safeguarding critical anatomy.
“AdventHealth Wesley Chapel remains at the forefront of cutting-edge technology, while providing whole-person care,” said Dr. Bob Rosequist, chief medical officer of AdventHealth Wesley Chapel. “We’re excited that our facility is the first in Wesley Chapel to offer the HYDROS Robotic System, for Aquablation Therapy. With this technology we hope to help men reclaim their lifestyles and find relief from symptoms -outcomes that have proven elusive with many traditional treatment modalities.”
The HYDROS Robotic System represents the next evolution in the delivery of Aquablation therapy. Leveraging insights from over 50,000 procedures, HYDROS features FirstAssist AI™ treatment planning, advanced image guidance, robotic resection, and a streamlined workflow. HYDROS is designed to improve efficiency, enhance surgeon and staff experience, and deliver a more accurate and consistent treatment plan for better clinical outcomes.
The clinically proven procedure integrates nextgeneration ultrasound imaging and digital cystoscopy to provide the surgeon with a multidimensional, detailed view of the entire prostate, enabling personalized treatment planning tailored to each patient’s unique anatomy. Utilizing a heatfree waterjet, the robot executes the surgeon-defined treatment plan to remove obstructive tissue while protecting critical anatomy. This enables efficient and predictable waterjet resection, standardizing the operative experience across a wide range of prostate sizes and shapes.
Aquablation therapy is backed by 5-year clinical data demonstrating significant durable symptom relief while preserving sexual function and continence across prostates of all shapes and sizes.
Avalon Park Wesley Chapel is proud to announce a new partnership with the Children’s Entrepreneur Market (CEM), a nationally recognized nonprofit initiative that empowers youth through hands-on business experience. The first market in Avalon Park Wesley Chapel will debut during the community’s July 4th Celebration, with additional dates to follow throughout the year as part of the community’s regular festival programming.
Launched in 2017 in Utah, the Children’s Entrepreneur Market has offered more than 100,000 children across the country the opportunity to try their hand at entrepreneurship. Now expanding to all 50 states by 2025, the program teaches children the fundamentals of launching and running a small business in a supportive, family-centered environment.
Children participating in the market are given a platform to create, price, market, and sell their own products—ranging from handmade crafts to baked goods and services. Participants are supported with access to educational resources including a startup video course, scholarship opportunities, and a kidfocused blog series that shares entrepreneurial stories from peers around the country.
“We believe the Children’s Entrepreneur Market can positively influence a lot of young lives,” said Lynée Fife, Director of the program. “The principles of innovation, leadership, and hard work are lessons that will stay with them throughout their lives.”
Avalon Park Wesley Chapel is the first location in Pasco County to host the Children’s Entrepreneur Market, making it a natural fit for the community’s mission to support local, grassroots growth.
“At Avalon Park Wesley Chapel, we believe entrepreneurship begins with opportunity—and opportunity should start early,” said Beat Kahli, President and CEO of Avalon Park Group. “We are proud to welcome the Children’s Entrepreneur Market into our community festivals. This program not only gives young people the tools to think creatively and independently, but also allows families to come together to support future leaders.”
As part of the July 4th Celebration, young entrepreneurs will join a vibrant lineup of entertainment, food, and fireworks in Downtown Avalon Park Wesley Chapel. The event is open to the public and will provide attendees a chance to shop from and encourage the next generation of business owners.

The Leapfrog Group assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals nationwide based on over 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. “We are thrilled and honored to have all our hospitals in Pasco County receive “A” grades for the second year in a row, with Wesley Chapel receiving its 20th consecutive “A” rating,” said Dr. Rajan Wadhawan, Chief Clinical Officer
for AdventHealth West Florida Division. “This award is a testament to the exceptional work AdventHealth physicians and team members do every day to keep our patients safe and how they continue to provide exceptional whole-person care to a growing community.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, injuries and infections that can lead to harm or even death. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

The program provided vital training to scale and meet the demands of our growing community. CO.STARTERS is a national program offered through our entrepreneurship program, SMARTstart, to businesses looking to work through their business model and learn from industry professionals. SMARTstart provides tools growing businesses need for long-term success like funding, education, guidance, collaboration, and workspace.
