Credit Application Denied?

Here’s What to Do Next

It’s no fun being denied anything, especially credit. Usually when someone is trying to get a line of credit, it’s for a big reason or major life milestone and having a credit application denied can feel like a real setback.

But this rejection isn’t something to take personally. It’s more common than people realize and doesn’t spell doom for your fi-

nancial future. In fact, credit denials can be a good opportunity to take proactive steps to improve your credit health long-term.

How will I know I’ve been denied credit? If a lender denies your credit application, they will send you a letter called an “adverse action notice.” Don’t worry -- it sounds more menacing than it really is.

This letter will explain why the lender denied your application and give you information about the credit reporting agency where they got your information. With the notice, you are entitled to get a free credit report from that agency within 60 days.

While the credit reporting agency provides your information, the lender ultimately makes the decision on whether to grant credit or not. If you need more information specifically about your denial, it’s usually best to contact the lender directly.

Why was I denied credit? There are many reasons a credit application could be denied and the reasons vary by lender, the types of credit requested and your personal credit history.

The adverse action letter will list the reason or reasons why you were denied. Common

causes include having a limited credit history, too many recent inquiries and a high balance on current credit accounts.

But every situation is different. If you are still unsure about the reason for the denial after reading the adverse action letter, you can call the lender to find out more.

What should I do if I am denied credit? If you are denied credit, you don’t technically have to do anything.

But that’s probably not your best option.

It’s natural to feel bummed about being rejected, but you can use the denial as a motivator to make strides to improve your credit health.

Your credit report acts like your financial resume, showing your history of what you’ve done with credit. Read it carefully to see if there are any areas where you could do better. Are your balances too high?

Create a financial plan that includes paying them off as quickly as possible. Did you miss a payment recently?

Set up automatic payment options on your monthly bills so you’re always on top of it.

Don’t forget to check your report for inaccuracies, as they can occasionally play a role in a denial.

The hand-painted wood grain texture of its overhead pendant inspired Freling Brown’s choice of

Pooja is an Attorney and Managing Partner of the Law Offices of Pooja Sethi, PLLC; Austin’s Asian American Quality of Life Initiative City Council Commissioner; Founder of the Charity South Asian Austin Moms; and a selected “Leader with a Heart” for the American Heart Association - Austin Policy Academy.

Pooja Sethi is the first Asian woman to win the Women of Color Leading Change Award 2019 from the YWCA. She was honored for her pro bono work with Immigrant women and children, especially those in our Austin area who are victims of assault and domestic violence at the hands of their partners.

That is when AADI decided to bring this blockbuster hit to our city. B4U, the distributor of the movie, played a role in making this happen.

The beauty of Mahira Khan and the story has mesmerized the audience. Her character is part of the climax and she renders full justice to it stealing the show with her natural acting.

The movie began with whistles and claps from a mixed audience.

Confronting The Opioids Epidemic In Our Communities As America’s opioid epidemic continues to impact communities large and small, new trends are raising new challenges for doctors and policymakers. While opioid-related overdose remains a top concern, the epidemic is now driven by illicitly manufactured fentanyl, heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine.

In 2017, more than 70,000 people died from drug-related overdoses, according to the U.S. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, the bulk of which were from illegal drugs.

Since its founding in 2014, the American Medical Association (AMA) Opioid Task Force has sought ways that practicing physicians could play a role in helping end the epidemic. The task force’s recommendations include urging physicians to enhance their education, as well as advocate for comprehensive care for patients in pain, and for those with a substance use disorder.

Perhaps thanks in part to these efforts, more than 700,000 physicians and other health care providers took courses related to opioids in 2018. What’s more, between 2013 and 2018, the number of opioid prescriptions decreased by more than 80 million -- a 33 percent decrease nationally -- with every state individually decreasing opioid prescriptions over the past five years. When it comes to helping patients with substance use disorder lead satisfying, productive lives, the science shows what works: medication prescribed by a physician or dispensed at special opioid treatment centers, combined with behavioral counseling and other services.

Despite certain positive trends and clear science, of the 20.3 million people nationwide with a substance use disorder, 90 percent receive no treatment, according to federal officials. “The opioid cri-

sis today is a national tragedy that requires the same resolve we have mustered for other public health epidemics. Those with substance use disorders deserve no less,” says AMA president, Dr. Patrice A. Harris. “Most people agree we need access to treatments that include medication. Unfortunately, that’s not readily available for many patients, and this epidemic will not be reversed until we deal with access issues and stigma associated with opioid misuse.” The AMA stresses that while doctors are leading in areas where they can have an influence, they cannot end the epidemic alone. To combat the issue at the state and national level, the organization has issued a national “roadmap” to policymakers focused on these specific actions: • Patients and physicians should have conversations about safe storage and disposal of opioids and all medications; and increase access to the opioid overdose reversal medication, naloxone, to patients at risk of overdose.

• Insurance providers should remove barriers that prevent patients from obtaining affordable medication-assisted treatment combined with counseling.

• Policymakers and regulators should enforce laws that require mental health benefits to be on par with other health benefits, thereby broadening access to treatment related to mental health and substance use disorders.

• Health insurance providers and pharmacy benefit managers should ensure patient access to affordable, non-opioid pain care.

Chota Imambara

Chota Imambara, also known as Imambara Hussainabad Mubarak is an imposing monument located in the city of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India.

The tombs of Muhammad Ali Shah and other members of his family are inside the imambara.

The exterior is very beautifully decorated with Quranic verses in Islamic calligraphy .

This includes two replicas of the Taj Mahal, built as the tombs of Muhammad Ali Shah’s daughter and her husband.

It is situated near the Bara Imambara and on the connecting road stands an imposing gateway known as Rumi Darwaza.

The building is also known as the Palace of Lights because of its decorations and chandeliers during special festivals, like Muharram.

The walls are decorated with Arabic calligraphy.

Water supply for the fountains and the water bodies inside the imambara came directly from the Gomti River.
