The Space

INTERIOR PERSPECTIVE INSIDE THE ROOM

The Space Underneath has a key feature which is the 4.2 ceiling height. The high ceiling allow light to come inside the common living area of the room easily, decreasing the need to use electricity to light up the room through out the day. Another key feature of the Space Underneath is the loft style planning. This planning allow the users to gain a lot space within the house by overlapping bedroom and the bathroom for more space to share with their loved ones in the living room and dinning room.

INTERIOR PERSPECTIVE OF THE COMMON SPACE

The Space Underneath offers a large green space underneath the building for all residences and the public. People can use this space for leisure walking, recreational activities and cultural activities as they see fit.

SITE ANALYSIS

The site analysis that has influenced the design the most is the direction of view and the obstruction of view. At first, we identified the obstruction of the view and created line of sight which will be obstructed and turn the corner of the building to the regarded direction. Once we have the figure of the building, we are able to identify more on the visual of the outside views that we will get according to the shape of the building.

SITE PLAN AND GROUND FLOOR PLAN

The main design of the site plan is to maximize green area and walk path for people, limiting the car driveway to only on the west side of the land plot where it is furthest away from the walkability. The pattern on the floor is a square, which is a homage to the root of the pattern used on the Thai traditional pattern and the Space Underneath’s stepping intervals. The shift of levels on the pathway also allows the people to access the canal and grass areas for recreational and cultural activities.
