In 1992 richtte Karel van Eerd, de eigenaar van Jumbo Supermarkten, samen met zijn echtgenote Kitty golfclub De Hooge Vorssel op in Nistelrode, ten oosten van ’s Hertogenbosch. Wat ontstond uit hun gezamenlijke liefde voor het golfen kreeg geleidelijk aan de extra dimensie van zakelijke golfbaan. “Het gegeven van ‘business doen op de golfbaan’ kwam in die tijd overgewaaid vanuit Amerika. Als volbloed-ondernemer zag Karel van Eerd hier heel wat mogelijkheden in. Hij besloot zich volop te richten op de doelgroep van zakenmensen. Zo begon het ‘tweede leven’ van The Duke Club, dat na bijna drie decennia is uitgegroeid tot een exclusieve businessclub met een prachtige 18-holes golfbaan en 20 suites,” vertelt General Manager Marcel Arts. “De naam heeft een duidelijke link met de Romeinse tijd, de oude hertogdommen en ’s Hertogenbosch – Duketown, zeg maar. ‘The Duke’ roept een gevoel van traditie, vakmanschap en trots op, dat versterkt wordt door het statige wapenschild als logo.”

In 1992, Karel van Eerd, the owner of Jumbo Supermarkets, and his wife Kitty together founded De Hooge Vorssel golf club in Nistelrode, east of ‘s Hertogenbosch. What arose from their shared love of golf gradually gained the extra dimension of a business golf course. “The concept of doing business on the golf course was blowing over from America at that time. As a thoroughbred entrepreneur, Karel van Eerd saw many possibilities here. He decided to fully focus on the target group of business people. That is how the ‘second life’ of The Duke Club began, which after almost three decades has grown into an exclusive business club with a beautiful 18-hole golf course and 20 suites”, says General Manager Marcel Arts. “The name has a clear link with Roman times, the ancient dukedoms and ‘s Hertogenbosch - Duketown, as it were. ‘The Duke’ evokes a sense of tradition, craftsmanship and pride, which is enhanced by the stately coat of arms as a logo.”

The Duke Club telt 120 corporate members, nationaal en internationaal. Elke corporate member vormt een flight, bestaande uit 4 speelgerechtigden. Ons unieke concept wekt duidelijk veel belangstelling op. Onze ambities reiken ver en we zetten voortdurend nieuwe stappen om The Duke Club verder te blijven ontwikkelen en nog meer uit te blinken in wat we doen.”

The Duke Club has 120 corporate members, on a national and international level. Each corporate member forms a flight, consisting of 4 persons who are entitled to play. Our ambitions are far-reaching and we are constantly taking new steps to continue to develop The Duke Club and to excel even more in what we do.”

Can you tell us more about the various top-level facilities that are present at The Duke Club?

“The Duke Club features a superb 18-hole Championship Course. Perfectly playable for beginners, challenging for performance-oriented top amateurs. They all leave the green of the last hole with the same fantastic feeling as they did on the tee of the first hole. For corporate golfers, The Duke Club offers a wide range of networking opportunities, both on and off the golf course. The Duke Club is a place where business, golf and relaxation meet and strengthen each other. We have a beautiful Clubhouse where meetings and events take place or family events are celebrated. Birthdays, weddings and anniversary celebrations are just a few examples. We also regularly organize special events, debates and club competitions to make the experience even more exceptional for our members.”

However, the members can also come to The Duke Club to be pampered with culinary delights, without having to play golf or network. Dining at our restaurant is without doubt a complete, unforgettable evening out. If you like, you can even stay the night at The Duke Suites.
