Arteïa is een online systeem voor kunstverzamelaars om hun collecties op een overzichtelijke, uiterst beveiligde manier te catalogiseren, te beheren en te delen. Olivier Marian, mede-oprichter en CSO, ontfermt zich al meer dan tien jaar over de kunstcollectie van zijn ouders, die gepassioneerde verzamelaars zijn. “Samen met mijn echtgenote begon ik mee te gaan met mijn ouders naar kunstbeurzen en galeries, om hun passie en hun manier van kunst verzamelen beter te begrijpen. Zo stapte ik binnen in de kunstwereld en ontmoette ik veel kunstenaars, galeries, kunstverkopers en andere professionals. Ik ging op zoek naar een professioneel, modern systeem om de collectie van mijn ouders overzichtelijk en veilig te catalogiseren. Maar ik vond geen geschikte oplossing. Uiteindelijk kwam ik in contact met Philippe Gellman en Marek Zabicki. Zij hadden te kampen met dezelfde problematiek en met ons drie richtten we Arteïa op in 2016. Hugues en Marie Taittinger, twee fervente kunstverzamelaars, stapten mee in ons project. Intussen hebben we al heel wat verzamelaars aangetrokken die mee investeren in Arteïa,” vertelt hij.

Arteïa is an online system for art collectors to catalogue, manage and share their collections in a well-organized and highly secure manner. Olivier Marian, co-founder and CSO, has been taking care of the art collection of his parents, who are passionate collectors, for more than ten years. “Together with my wife, I started going to art fairs and galleries with my parents, to better understand their passion and their way of collecting art. That is how I entered the art world and met many artists, galleries, art dealers and other professionals. I was looking for a professional, modern system to catalogue my parents’ collection in a clear and safe way. But I didn’t find a suitable solution. Eventually I came in contact with Philippe Gellman and Marek Zabicki. They had to deal with the same problems and with the three of us we founded Arteïa in 2016. Hugues and Marie Taittinger, two passionate art collectors, joined our project. In the meantime, we have already attracted a lot of collectors who are also investing in Arteïa”, he says.

Welke meerwaarde biedt Arteïa aan kunstverzamelaars?

“Het is een overzichtelijk platform om kunstcollecties te beheren, op een zeer eenvoudige manier. Je hoeft er zeker geen grote computerkenner voor te zijn zoals ikzelf. (lacht) Als gebruiker heb je op elk moment een duidelijk zicht op je kunstcollectie. Je krijgt een zeer volledig beeld. Dat gaat van prijzen, aankopen, verkopen en contracten tot stockage, logistiek, verzekeringen en restauratie. Op die manier komen kunstcollecties veel meer ‘tot leven’. Stel, je zit op restaurant of je bent op een beurs aanwezig met andere kunstverzamelaars. Dan kan je via Arteïa makkelijk één of meerdere werken uit je verzameling tonen op je smartphone of je tablet. Met enkele klikken kan je ook iets delen met anderen. Het spreekt voor zich dat dit allemaal uiterst veilig gebeurt, want de meeste verzamelaars zijn erg gesteld op discretie. Terecht, want een kunstcollectie is echt iets ‘intiem’.”

Wat verwacht je voor de toekomst van Arteïa?

“Arteïa is ‘one of a kind’, er is geen vergelijkbare oplossing op de markt vandaag. We zien de toekomst dus positief tegemoet. Zeker ook omdat we merken dat er vandaag veel jonge verzamelaars bij komen, die een pak sneller ‘gewonnen’ zijn voor de vele voordelen van een online platform voor catalogisering. Uiteraard willen we Arteïa alleen maar beter maken. In de toekomst willen we bijvoorbeeld transacties tussen verzamelaars mogelijk maken, zodat ze zaken kunnen doen onder elkaar in een professionele omgeving.”

What added value does Arteïa offer to art collectors?

“It is a well-arranged platform for managing art collections in a very simple way. You certainly don’t have to be a real computer expert like me to pull it off. (laughs) As a user, you have a clear view of your art collection at all times. You get a very complete picture. This ranges from prices, purchases, sales and contracts to storage, logistics, insurance and restoration. In this way, art collections come much more ‘alive’. Suppose you are at a restaurant or you are at a fair with other art collectors. Then you can easily show one or more works from your collection on your smartphone or tablet via Arteïa. With just a few clicks you can also share something with others. It goes without saying that this is all done in an extremely safe way, because most collectors are very fond of discretion. Rightly so, because an art collection is really something ‘intimate’.”

What do you expect for the future of Arteïa?

“Arteïa is one of a kind, there is no comparable solution on the market today. So we have a positive outlook for the future. Especially since we notice that many young collectors are joining today, who are much easier won over by the many benefits of an online cataloguing platform. Of course, we only want to make Arteïa better. In the future, for example, we want to make transactions between collectors possible, which will allow them to do business among each other in a professional environment.”
