Written Assignments You will prepare a Portfolio containing notes on your lectures and seminars, mock auditions and audition technique classes, and detailed research and reflection on the direction you wish to take upon successful completion of the course. The Portfolio is marked pass/fail, but it is a requirement of the course that this element be passed. The module specifications outline the other journals you are required to keep during your progress through the course. Your tutors will carry out ‘spot checks’ of these journals at regular intervals, but the journals are not marked. What do I have to do to pass? To pass the CertHE Foundation in Musical Theatre, a student must have acquired 120 credits and passed each module in accordance with the requirements for the module as set out in the Module specifications and summarised below under ‘Content’ 70%-100% - with Distinction
Marks awarded in this band will reflect an excellent standard of work.
Work is highly refined, demonstrating imagination and detail, choices are interesting and engaging. Technical skills are highly developed and appropriate to the material and/or content, and accurately and consistently applied. There is evidence of indepth research, showing excellent knowledge and understanding. The standard of behaviour, attitude and focus are excellent. 60% - 69% - with Merit
Marks awarded in this band will reflect a very high standard of work, which may be excellent in some areas, but without the all-round consistency of the band above.
Work is imaginative, and demonstrates a very good understanding of the technical and creative demands of the material and/or content. The work demonstrates a very good application of technical skills in most areas and may be excellent in some. There is evidence of a very good level of relevant research. The standard of behaviour, attitude and focus are very good. 50% - 59% - Pass
Marks awarded in this band will reflect a good standard of work, with no outstanding and few very good features. Work is diligent and largely in keeping with the technical and creative demands of the material and/or content, but shows only a small degree of definition or flair. Application technical skills is good, although may be stronger in some elements than in others. Research demonstrates good knowledge and understanding, and is relevant. The standard of behaviour, attitude and focus are good. 40% - 49% - Pass
Marks awarded in this band will reflect a satisfactory standard of work.
Work fulfils the basic requirements but is characterised by generality and competence rather than by originality, commitment or creativity. Technical skills are adequate, and may be inconsistently applied. Research is satisfactory, and 32
