Outline
You will begin to develop a personal approach to acting through exploration of a variety of techniques. You will also begin to build a technical foundation in vocal technique.
Overall Aims
To enable students to act in a variety of performance situations, with confidence, concentration, discipline, energy and technical control.
What will I be expected to achieve?
Through participation and engagement with the training, you will develop your: Skills • imagination, concentration and observation in performance • understanding of the basics of character creation through body and voice • ability to apply voice techniques into text work • confidence in working with text Knowledge and understanding • progress in your understanding and speaking of theatrical texts • confidence in using the techniques and terminology of professional theatre Values and attitudes • belief, energy and focus in performance • self-discipline and openness as a member of a group in performance • appreciation of the value of feedback and constructive criticism • respect and value for the work of others.
How will I be assessed?
At the end of the summer term your tutors will mark your classwork in Acting and Voice. You are required to keep journals of your work in each unit, and your tutors will regularly check that these are being completed satisfactorily, but they will not be marked.
How and when do I receive feedback?
You will receive written feedback from all your tutors at the end of the Autumn and Spring terms. You will have the opportunity to discuss this feedback with your Course Leader in a one-to-one tutorial.
