Outline

You will develop your technical ability, musicality and confidence in singing.

Overall Aim

To provide you with the foundations needed to sing with technical control, safety, confidence, concentration, discipline and energy.

What will I be expected to achieve?

Through participation and engagement with the training, you will develop: Skills • presentational skills for auditions • the ability to use the voice safely in performance • application of appropriate vocal technique • ability to work in an effective and disciplined way as a soloist and as a member of a chorus • the foundation of a ‘legit’ singing style • the ability to perform a range of songs to suit a variety of audition requirements Knowledge and understanding • understanding of the techniques and terminology of professional musical theatre • a broader understanding of a variety of musical theatre styles

How will I be assessed?

At the end of the course you will be assessed on your classwork throughout the module by your tutors. The marks for Singing Technique and Ensemble will be given equal weighting in the calculation of the overall module mark. Song Workshop is marked pass/fail.

How will I receive feedback?

You will receive continual verbal feedback from your tutors as you progress through the course. You will receive written feedback from your one-to-one singing tutor at the end of terms 1 and 2.
