How will I receive feedback?
You will receive written feedback from all your tutors at the end of the Autumn and Spring terms. You will have the opportunity to discuss this feedback with your Course Leader in a one-to-one tutorial.

Aims
to enable you to begin to acquire • stability, placement and foundation in technique • an understanding of basic American jazz technique
What will I be expected to achieve?
Through participation and engagement with the training, you will develop: Skills • progress in technique, alignment, placing, control, strength • flexibility, fluidity of movement, dynamics and accuracy • the acquisition and application of communication skills • the ability to sustain and apply technique Knowledge and understanding • an understanding of safety in dance to prevent injury • an awareness of musicality and subtlety of jazz dance style, energy, concentration, imagery, personality, feeling and communication through dance
How will I learn?
You will participate in a sequence of technique classes introducing basic American Jazz Technique based on body mechanics and conditioning. You will keep a journal in which to record your tutor’s feedback and your own reflections on your learning.

Dance etiquette Preparation for Dance: basic warm up, stretch, limbering and strengthening Correct posture, body alignment, use of footwork, legs and port de bras Body Awareness and placing Isolations, weight distributions, dynamics and flow Counting and Rhythm Correct use of turn out and parallel Basic travelling steps
