M IL NE Milne Publishing is proud to present Artist Talk Magazine issue 29. This issue is dedicated to celebrating all aspects of art. Everyone featured within this issue have given interesting, in-depth, honest accounts about themselves, their work, views and ideas. In addition to the amazing images of the work they have produced, which I know you the reader will enjoy and be inspired by. Thank you to everyone who entered our open call. The cover of this issue features all 74 artists involved in this issue. Thank you to everyone involved. Grant Milne, Founder of Artist Talk Magazine “The advent of a new year and the arts intertwine as a celebration of renewal, reflection and the limitless potential for growth. As one year gives way to another, artists often channel the spirit of new beginnings into their creations. Through paintings that depict vibrant shades of hope, art becomes a profound expression of the collective human desire for transformation. Artists draw inspiration from the symbolic imagery associated with the new year – the ticking of the clock, the dropping of the ball, or the turning of calendar pages – infusing their work with a sense of temporal transition. Art is a reflection of the human essence—creating, communicating, and transcending. It mirrors our collective consciousness, reminding us of our goals and dreams. Creating visual representations inspires reflection

on the past year and envisions future possibilities. During times of change, art plays a key role in driving growth, innovation, and cultural evolution. Embracing change in artistic expression confirms the dynamic nature of human creativity and the need for continuous exploration. The new year offers artists a chance to break free from the familiar and experiment with new techniques and concepts, reflecting the cultural atmosphere of our times. Likewise, the arts often serve as a beacon of hope, signaling the possibility of new beginnings. Artists have the capacity to inspire resilience, instill courage, and provide solace during challenging periods. The creation and consumption of art become acts of optimism, reminding individuals and societies of their capacity to transcend difficulties and embrace the potential for positive change. In the forefront of technology, the arts reshape our understanding of the world. In the digital age, they play an essential role in virtual reality, AI and interactive media, embracing new forms and technologies. Digital art, interactive installations and performance art reflect advancements in artistic expression and tools. Artist Talk Magazine is committed to strengthening the democratization of art, allowing diverse voices to share creations globally. For this new year, let us reflect upon the meaning of life which lies in the relationships we

build, the passions we pursue, the knowledge we acquire, the spiritual dimensions we explore and the art we produce and share. The path to the meaning of art is a deeply personal and subjective journey, inviting individuals to craft their own narrative and discover their purpose within their own existence. Moreover, within this issue, the deliberate selection and arrangement of colors, faces, landscapes, objects and shapes contribute to the complex language of visual expression. Its colors convey emotions and moods which can evoke joy, sadness, or tension; faces, whether realistic or abstract, encapsulate human experiences and identities; landscapes represent the external world or serve as metaphors for internal landscapes of the mind and soul; objects carry layers of cultural or personal significance, contributing to the rich tapestry of meaning; and shapes create visual structure which contributes to the overall composition, influencing the rhythm and balance of the artwork. This intentional interplay becomes a narrative that transcends the literal, allowing artists to communicate complex ideas, provoke thought, and engage the readers into a visually immersive exploration of meaning and expression.” Written by Deisemara Roberta da Silva

SENORITA PECK

I am an artist based in Derbyshire, hailing from the charming town of Glossop, nestled on the outskirts of Manchester. Glossop is surrounded by breathtaking countryside and teems with magnificent wildlife. Meanwhile, Manchester boasts a thriving and dynamic art scene, featuring exceptional street art. Inspired by this, I embarked on creating artwork that blends urban flair with rural themes. IN THE THICK OF IT

My artistic style can be likened to confetti—a vibrant, chaotic, and exuberant spectacle. Utilizing watercolour, ink, masking fluid, and spray paint as my primary mediums, I infuse texture into my pieces by incorporating floral and plant prints, as well as stencils. My work aims to honor and explore the rich variety of wildlife found in Derbyshire while also seeking to bring joy to the viewer. The intense color palette, intricately layered patterns and textures, and bold brush strokes enchant the senses. I strive to capture the essence of each animal and present it in a manner that is playful, wild, and liberating. My artistic services extend to commissioned pet portraits as well.

CHA SEUNG-WON

I was born in a charming suburban area near Hamburg in 1951, and to this day, it remains my beloved home. My artistic journey commenced in 2006 when I delved into the world of oil painting on linen. Starting from scratch, I embarked on the path of landscape painting, and in 2008, I pursued additional training in the captivating realm of maritime painting. During that same year, I embraced the challenge of creating my first portraits, immersing myself in hands-on experience to learn and grow. Currently, my passion lies in crafting pop art portraits, with a special affection for the vibrant culture and remarkable people of Korea. My enthusiasm for Korea knows no bounds, as I have

devoted myself wholeheartedly to learning their unique and refined language. Inspired by the mesmerizing K-drama series available on Netflix, I embarked on a special series featuring the beloved superstars of South Korea.

including the glossy magazine “Bizmeetsart” in Hamburg, the art catalog “Art Anthology VI” in Madrid, the art book “Contemporary Celebrity Masters” in Palermo, and the art book “The Genius of Italy” in Rome.

I have previously showcased my artwork in district offices, town halls, and manor houses, among other venues.

I was honored with the esteemed “International Prize MICHELANGELO” on July 22, 2023. Renowned artist Kobransky, who has achieved global acclaim, reached out to express how my pop art portraits captivated him, leaving him yearning for more of my artistic creations. Is there a greater compliment for an artist? The thrill persists.

In the past two years, I have participated in a variety of online and physical solo and group exhibitions in prominent cities such as Basel, Zurich, Barcelona, Mallorca, Venice, New York, and Hamburg. Many of my paintings have found their way into private collections. Recently, my work has been featured in esteemed publications,

SCENT OF A WOMAN PAINTING

I’ve been immersed in the world of painting since my teenage years, and I owe a great debt of gratitude to my aunt. As an art exhibition curator, she has always fostered a deep passion for the arts. With her guidance, I embarked on my artistic journey, initially exploring the realms of watercolors and oils. As I transitioned into adulthood, this artistic expression became an integral part of my intimate and personal identity. Since approximately 2000, my artistic journey has been gradually shifting towards abstraction. I strive to capture the essence of a “cheerful chaos,” a phrase that encompasses the array of sensations that manifest within me. Every aspect of my life becomes a source of inspiration, forming mental images that are then projected and incorporated into my works. However, these

creations are never confined or restrained; they always remain in motion, encompassing other works, experiments, and sensations gathered from various sources. I perceive everything around me as a potential piece of art, constantly envisioning its role within a pictorial context. Consequently, I proudly assert that each of my paintings possesses a distinctiveness that sets it apart from the others. In my artistic endeavors, I delight in utilizing a diverse range of materials, including wood, iron, and various construction-derived resins. Sculpture is crafted from a combination of wood, iron, and plaster, this sculpture embodies the unwavering strength of the human spirit, illustrating our remarkable capacity to navigate through challenging and enduring circumstances, ultimately restoring

a harmonious equilibrium between mind and body. Scent of a Woman Painting is a captivating mixed technique artwork on canvas. The artist skillfully combines two beloved themes, women and eros, creating a mesmerizing gallery of illustrations. The common thread running through these pieces is the alluring charm of eroticism, which gradually transforms into explicit and passionate scenes, enhanced by the artist’s unique use of color. The exquisitely beautiful and sensual women depicted are inspired by the author’s cherished vision of femininity - they are voluptuous, radiant, and oozing with sensuality. Their subtly suggestive gaze hints at a world of mystery and delight. DISCOVER MORE www.vittoriopezzuoli.com Instagram: @vittoriopezzuoli

The Dance of The Leaves - I have always taken immense pleasure in capturing the exquisite beauty of nature. By a stroke of luck, I stumbled upon a majestic tree entwined by a lush ivy embrace. Two hours slipped away as I meticulously captured photographs, until that perfect shot. This enchanting encounter took place in Bulgaria, four years ago, marking the genesis of my artistic endeavor. Immersed in the study of the intricate textures of the tree and the leaves of ivy, progress on this masterpiece was regrettably hindered by prior commitments. THE 526 PROJECT © PAINTING NUMBER 1

I have had the privilege of living in New York City for almost three decades. As an immigrant I’m aware that I benefit greatly from the sacrifices made by others in the struggle towards real and full equality. And, as such, I feel it incumbent upon me to continue the movement forward. After George Floyd was killed on May

In the month of June 2020, amidst the bustling streets of New York City, I actively engaged in a remarkable series of seven consecutive protests. With unwavering determination, I traversed a remarkable distance of over 40 miles, uniting with thousands of impassioned individuals who sought to voice their grievances against the tragic and senseless acts of violence plaguing our nation. Amidst this united front, I fervently conducted numerous interviews, delving into the motivations and aspirations of hundreds of protesters who courageously took to the streets, even amidst the backdrop of a global pandemic. I chose to call the exhibition THE 526 PROJECT ©, as a haunting homage to the exact duration in seconds that the police officer kept

The project comprises of 33 paintings, each measuring approximately 58x58 inches, and 2 paintings, each measuring approximately 58x116 inches. I meticulously hand-painted around twelve thousand circles, each with a diameter of 2.5 inches, to symbolize the circle of life and the rich diversity of people residing in this magnificent country. The arrangement of these circles forms a captivating wave-like pattern across the paintings, representing the ever-changing challenges faced by different generations. I firmly believe in the interconnectedness of all beings and our shared aspirations. To convey this, I intentionally connected the circles. Moreover, I used 12 distinct colors to depict the various adversities encountered throughout the year, symbolizing the 12 months. Silver paint was employed to signify courage, hope, and positive energy, while red paint represented struggle and injustice. The purpose of this endeavor is to capture the underlying motivations behind people’s protests and highlight the enduring fortitude and unity of our nation. It is imperative that we bravely face our history, allowing us to mend the wounds of this persistent anguish. DISCOVER MORE www.zahiedtmohammed.com Instagram: @ZahiedTonyMohammed

solutions, gets them and then, he can appreciate the canvas as a whole. The moment of confusion and intrigue is one of the things I am looking for.

CONTEMPLATION

My artistic career is the result of my training in art school and psychology, my skills of 35 years of professional graphic design, my general artistic culture. My approach is based on the fragmentation of portraits expressing emotions, intimacy facets and human complexity. Verticality is important in my artworks. Man is linked to the vertical elements of our planet. The vertical lines guide the viewer’s gaze while symbolizing reality and the concrete. These bands create boundaries between reality and imagination. Intimacy takes different forms, emotional or physical. A person is not limited to the portrait, she is complex and composed of multiple facets, shown and hidden. I explore those facets, inviting the viewer to immerse himself in a complex reading of the portrait while questioning his own perception. In this digital world, we must not forget the deep human nature of emotions. Singularity prevails over the tendency to want everything to simplify, code, standardize.

Intimacy, the «in-self» remains today the only «world» preserved, the source of humanity in each of us. Fragmenting a face makes it possible to show these multiple facets. Gestalt theory, theory of form, plays an important role in my work, emphasizing the importance of global perception and the resolution of cognitive questioning. This theory explains that we recognize a person by the contours of the face. The brain then looks at the details of the eyes, nose,... If we fragment the contours, the brain tries to fill the gaps. This requires an internal review and deliberation process. My portraits do not provide a direct answer, the composition is examined for answers by the viewers. The fragmentation of the face and verticality cause a plot to be solved. The reading is at first global, then the viewer sees details in the tapes. The brain tries to reconstruct the face, then the other when two faces are juxtaposed. This research makes «travel» the spectator in the canvas, he examines the

Words of Victoria Wong, Curator of Barbagelata Foundation about “Réalité” : In the artwork “Réalité”, the visage of a woman is divided into 3 distinct parts, each rendered in the striking colors of green, black and white. This compelling triptych challenges our perception of reality and invites us to delve into a profound exploration of the multifaceted nature of existence. The choice of colors is deliberate and serves as a visual metaphor for the complexity of reality. The vibrant green symbolizes growth, renewal and the ever-evolving nature of our experiences. It represents the vitality and potential inherent in every moment of existence. In contrast, the deep black signifies the unknown, the mysteries that shroud our understanding of the world and the enigmas that lie beyond the surface. It hints at the depths of the human psyche and the hidden truths that shape our perceptions. Lastly, the pristine white embodies purity, clarity, and the desire for truth. It calls attention to our innate yearning for clarity in an increasingly chaotic world. The fracture nature of the woman’s face represents the fragmented aspects of our perception and the inherent subjectivity of reality. It reminds us that our understanding of the world is influenced by our perspectives, experiences and biases. Each section of the face portrays a different facet of this woman’s identity, suggesting that we only see a part of the whole. Similarly, in our interactions with the world, we often encounter only fragments of reality, shaped by our beliefs and cultural contexts. I was born in Greece and grew up in Ikaria, a small Greek island in the Aegean Sea. Currently, I reside in Athens. My educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in History, Archaeology, and Social Anthropology, along with a Master’s degree in Museum Studies. It was during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 that I discovered my passion for art as a personal outlet. Art, particularly minimal line art, became my escape and a way to express the current circumstances with simplicity and modesty. THE CONNECTION

The primary method involves the use of pencil and permanent marker to create hand-drawn illustrations on paper. My inspiration stems from the ordinary moments of human activity, the captivating forms of the human body, the timeless beauty of ancient Greek sculpture, the essence of love, the profound human connections, and the diverse sociopolitical factors that shape our existence throughout history. The initial piece of art draws inspiration from a customary dance rooted in my homeland, known as “Ikariotikos.” This dance involves individuals linking arms and forming circular patterns, united by music and synchronized motion. The artwork titled “Connection” captures the essence of when two individuals merge into one, creating a unique world of their own. The third piece symbolizes the importance of embracing and accepting our bodies. It serves as a reminder that we should love ourselves and take pride in our natural form. IF WE KNOW THAT TRAUMA CHANGES OUR DNA, JOY MUST AS WELL

Like most born in Canada, I grew up with a built-in appreciation for the majesty, the stop-youin-your-tracks beauty of our environment. I’ve spent the last ten years working with First Nations Communities to address inequities, to shed light on the correlation between environmental violence and the by design genocide of Indigenous people. As I work through my own decolonization, my relationship with the land changed. Shifting from power dynamics to relationships, one of the questions that remains is how can I use my privilege to bring attention to the continued genocide of the First People of these lands, and the lands themselves? Canadians hold the stereotype of voyageurs in canoes on pristine lakes, with majestic mountains surrounding,

cloaked by a Hudson’s Bay Blanket in high regard, it’s been a solid marketing strategy for 150+ years. I stepped back to figure out my place in making this better – or at least less bad. Hopefully there is sustainability for future generations that honours all ways, territories, and traditions. Each day, my reconciliation begins with these lands. Historically, the First Peoples sought solace and ceremony in some of the most incredible spaces found on our planet that happen to be in our backyard, places of reverence, of connection. My works, the organic undulating lines serve to embed that sense of connection in all things, to all of us. People tell me they see different things, muscles tissue or sweeatgrass braids, DNA helixes, ocean waves,

it’s all of that and more. Capitalism requires disconnection to fuel the lie that self sufficiency is the epitome of success. Decades of research from mental health to environmentalism to education and beyond say otherwise. Connection, community, and compassion are inherent to our survival. Anyone who tells you otherwise is trying to sell something. This is why I now paint landscapes. for as much learning as we must do, we are all connected to and by these lands, because of that the stewardship falls to all of us. “The Pulse of Time” is a captivating series of contemporary art photography that beckons you to venture into the mysterious realm of transitional moments in time. It presents a visual portrayal of my own personal encounters, where the line between the horizon and the merging of sky and ocean becomes indistinguishable. Amidst a life defined by perpetual motion, I have developed a profound fascination for the interstitial moments that reside between commencement and conclusion. These simplistic vistas serve as both introspective self-portraits and a profound reflection of my ongoing odyssey.

PHYSICAL ENTITY

THE PULSE OF TIME TODAY

The Essence of this series lies in a captivating visual journey through the hidden spaces, the fleeting instances that often slip by unnoticed amidst the relentless passage of time. My life has been shaped by a nomadic way of living, where diverse cultures intertwine and evolve as I venture from one place to another. In this perpetual state of change, I have grown to cherish the beauty and significance of the spaces in between, those precious moments suspended delicately between the past and the future. The ocean, an expansive realm that simultaneously separates and connects lands, serves as a potent symbol for the intermediate spaces in our lives. Just as the sky and the ocean harmoniously merge in my photographs, our existence can often be perceived as a seamless transition from one fleeting instant to the next, with the horizon nearly dissolving into the vastness. Each photo reflects me. They capture my experiences in transitional spaces. With simplicity, I create a canvas for you to interpret. “The Pulse of Time” explores the spaces in between, where we briefly exist. DISCOVER MORE https://helifouchard.com Instagram: @helifouchard

Having left art school due to health issues, I have spent years grappling with self-discovery, struggling to find equilibrium in my daily existence. Understanding my inner turmoil has proven challenging, and opening up through conversation hasn’t always been the most effective solution. Neglecting my education prevented me from pursuing my passion for drawing, disregarding its worth and the solace it provided during difficult moments.

THE AUDITOR

Abstractionism has given me the freedom to explore and express my emotions organically, without constraints. Through my art, I delve into the complexities of human nature, using unconventional shapes, exaggerated proportions, and striking black-and-white contrasts. Every piece I create aims to resonate with others, capturing a unique facet of myself or those who have encountered similar challenges or possess similar qualities and traits. The Observer is an individual who tends to be more reserved in social settings but possesses a remarkable ability to perceive people’s needs effortlessly. The Auditor is characterized by their infrequent speech, yet possesses an exceptional capacity to listen attentively to others. The Ingenuous is the individual upon whom others can depend to consistently provide them with the utmost truth and honesty. In my journey, I have come to realize the importance of simplicity, both in my life and in my art. To maintain unwavering dedication to any creative endeavor, I embrace a minimalist approach when it comes to my tools. That’s precisely why every stroke of my pencil, even for the subtlest shades of gray, is crafted with a modest 2B pencil, on a pristine white sheet of smooth paper.

NEW MOVEMENT

‘No plans, no clues, no rules.’ These guiding principles influence the work of London-based sculptor Ahuva Zeloof, whether she’s working with stone, bronze, or glass. Ahuva’s journey towards artistry began after the hectic days of managing her household and raising her children. Encouraged by a friend to experiment with clay modeling, she unexpectedly discovered her true calling. Ahuva’s approach to carving is all-encompassing. She carefully selects stones based on their shapes, scars, and patination, believing that she can uncover something special from any stone she’s given. Her creative process is spontaneous, allowing the stone to guide the artistic outcome. This is evident in her piece, ‘Fossil Head 4,’ which showcases striking

marbling brought to life through Ahuva’s masterful chiseling. Ahuva emphasizes the importance of keeping a balanced mind in her practice. “The process is meditative for me. When I am in that space, I am in a different zone,” she explains. It’s not surprising since Ahuva is a dedicated yoga practitioner who utilizes her understanding of human anatomy to inform her artistic creations. The artwork above, from the series ‘NEW MOVEMENT’, beautifully demonstrates this interconnectedness. Crafted in bronze, these figures capture the physicality of different yoga poses. Art is not always about precision. Ahuva acknowledges that accidents play a role in her creative process. “Once, I found inspiration in a mishap with a

courier. He broke a sculpture, and it transformed into a new piece on its own. I am anticipating my next accident with a large piece that lacks meaning to me. I intend to deliberately shatter it and explore the possibilities with the fragments.” Most importantly, Ahuva is passionate about the idea that art should establish a personal connection with the observer. “I aim for individuals to perceive and interpret my sculptures in their own way, to determine what they see without feeling influenced by my intentions. Art brings happiness, and it unites people – that’s my ultimate goal.” DISCOVER MORE www.ahuvazeloof.com Instagram: @ahuva.zeloof

addresses the subsequent crisis of identity, and the possibility of healing. The black background in her paintings (or, rather black priming) has strong symbolic connotations. It stands for the artist’s endeavour to find an appropriate image and snatch it out of oblivion before it is swallowed into the darkness of Lethe. Her paintings are an attempt to store the event in memory, preserve it, and move on. As in her previous series, Olga is searching for her own element, for “the shirt” that she could wear, i.e. something that could match her perception of the world and link with the current situation. In 2022, Olga made a diptych entitled as Pysanka, or Vyshyvanka, to be more precise. These Vyshivankas are two festive colourful shirt-like Ukrainian dresses. With this work Olga responds to the question “Who am I?” She is with those who suffer, for whom her soul aches daily, and on whose side are the truth and justice. In the tragic days of spring 2022, when the world learned of the tragedy in Bucha, Olga painted her Evenings On A Farm Near Dikanka (image on the right).

Her works are extensive philosophical commentaries on the loss of historical memory that occurs in the time of political reprisals, wars, and other catastrophes. She also

In Olga’s words, “for me, this painting is a paradox. Its title was inspired by a collection of novellas written in 1829-32 by a well-known Ukrainian author Nikolai Gogol. These stories richly laced with Ukrainian folklore and abounding in references to the everyday life in Ukrainian villages, were well-known and universally loved, as they offered a rare glimpse into the life and mores of the Ukrainian people in Gogol’s time. The dark allegory came to me in March, 2022 when I learned of the atrocities perpetrated by the Russian army in Bucha.cI felt unbearable pangs of pain because I spent so many happy childhood years in Ukraine and still have many close friends living there.” DISCOVER MORE ww.olgahirschart.com Instagram: @olgahirschart

It all begins with a memory, often a painful one. Then flickers of hope and the things I love, or don’t love. Always caught in a struggle between fight or flight. Frustrated thoughts and patterns of unease in life. Distorted figures, darkness, and rawness become revealing symbolic gestures of universal archetypes intertwined with my

personal vision and process. My aim to unearth feelings of vulnerability, frustration, or desire is rooted in the concept of the collective unconscious. Multiple meanings slowly permeate through artistic narratives. ‘The Seeker’ is for the inquisitive, an onlooker observing and also being observed. Sunfish glowing beneath the surface, those sharp fins etched

into my childhood. Searching for something, yet waiting for nothing. Did you know that Blue Herons prey on smaller birds? ‘Too Soon for Honey’ simply began with a desire to paint a deceased swan. SUCCESSION FINALE

Early in the pandemic, I began making narrative paintings reflecting my shutdown life. Walking my dog figured prominently. As the series evolved I became more interested in the overlooked moments that make up a day, and therefore, a life. I became hyper focused on my routines and relationships. With affection and tongue-in-cheek awareness of the tedium of my anti-social nature, I began paintings focused on the rut of 30 years of marriage, dogs in my personal space and staring at screens. I started warping perspectives as a tool to control space in my compositions and, in doing so, created a sort of humorous anxiety that permeates the work and reflects my own neuroses.

“Lunchtime” unintentionally references historic images of royal dogs flocking their masters. In this case, it is less out of loyalty and more out of the desire for food scraps. But I loved the formal composition embedded into my crazy pattern work, impossible perspectives and casual mess. The painting is oil on canvas and measures 48 x 48 inches.

modest materials, such as cardboard, glitter, embroidery thread, and various clays to reflect the scale of the stories. When creating my sculptured paintings, I layer the materials into the oil painting base, building up the surface, making objects pop and often extending beyond the edge of the panel. I also embellish bisque vases as extensions of my paintings.

“Succession Finale” is named after the television show we were watching at the time of this painting. Choosing such an inauspicious occasion as the subject matter is amusing to me and reinforces the theme of my work. The painting is oil on canvas and measures 36 x 48 inches. Both paintings were created in 2023.

Kawena’s artwork serves as a homage to the Hawaiian conviction that the land embodies the spirits of their ancestors. Through her art, she urges all of us to honor and safeguard our natural surroundings. In a world that often prioritizes profit at the expense of sustainability, the Hawaiians’ deep-rooted belief that the land is akin to their forebears stands as a resounding reminder of the imperative to coexist harmoniously

The showcased paintings exude vivid colors that symbolize the vitality and vibrancy present in everything around us. Kawena frequently indulges in the art of acrylic painting on canvas, utilizing various other

mediums to effectively convey her captivating narratives. Among her extensive collection, two notable pieces, namely ‘Oahi Lani and Hāloa, hold great significance as they depict stories deeply rooted in Kawena’s childhood memories. ‘Oahi Lani, a mesmerizing acrylic painting on canvas measuring 26” x 30”, portrays a mythical tale that revolves around an ancient Hawaiian tradition. This tradition, known as ‘Oahi, involved the bravest and mightiest men embarking on a challenging journey to the pinnacle of Makana mountain, a majestic peak that Kawena admired from her humble abode. Precariously perched atop this summit rests a rock that appears to teeter on the edge of collapse at any moment. The myth recounts the courageous endeavor of an audacious young boy who, surpassing the strength of the men, hurled a firebrand further than anyone before, skillfully landing it in a waiting canoe. Tragically, the boy lost his life in this extraordinary feat. Above the peak, a mystical Menehune, having formed a profound bond with the boy, transformed himself into stone at the break of dawn to shield him from harm. Crafted with acrylic on a 38” x 50” canvas, the artwork titled Hāloa weaves a poignant tale of a stillborn child who, in a remarkable twist, became a beloved sibling to all Hawaiian people. According to legend, two deities found love and bore a child, only to tragically lose him at birth. With profound sorrow, they laid him to rest in the earth beside their dwelling. Miraculously, the first kalo plant emerged from this very spot, soon becoming a cherished staple in Hawaiian cuisine. Eventually, a healthy boy was born to the divine couple, and he was affectionately named Hāloa, forever celebrated as the first Hawaiian. DISCOVER MORE www.kawenak.com Instagram: @_Kawenak_

Now I am working on a series of paintings called “Heavenly Ark”. And this is the task of its realisation. The state of floating between heaven and earth creates a sense of timelessness and represents freedom of thought and expression, which is a realised necessity.

THE HEAVENLY ARC

Since 2023, Garegin has made the decision to fully immerse himself in the world of painting and creative expression. Drawing upon his extensive experience working with noble metals, stone, and colored glass, he skillfully combines his passion for vibrant hues and aesthetic allure. As an artist, he continuously crafts a brand new realm, meticulously weaving together various shades and the radiant golden essence of the sun, which serves as the cornerstone of his personal philosophy. “As an artist, my journey can be described as that of a philosopher and explorer—a quest for selfdiscovery through a profound connection with the captivating beauty of our world. “My art is born where my feelings reach their highest point, and therefore it is as honest as possible. Landscapes and their fragments, caught in the moment of discovering their beauty, details, the essence of things, their design, fractal structure and logic of lines, reveal to me a world of perfect proportions, integrity and infinite harmony. It is a true state of rapture that one wants to capture and a sublime feeling

that one wants to share. Freedom and spiritual space resonate with me, which is why I am drawn to large canvases: it is in them that I can convey a wide range of forms, shades, the depth of space and impressions, the cosmic scale and mysterious majesty of nature. The images seem to exist outside of time, have no shadows and float in weightlessness, with no connection to the mundane.” “I always have ideas to visualise on canvas. In state of transcendence, an impulse comes to me, which I energise and put that energy into the artwork.

Crystalline fractality is the embodiment of the idea of cosmism, new energies and worldviews seeking to find wholeness. The Ark of Light is a channel between heaven and earth, and each of its crystals is a knowledge, a projection of light and true sincere love for this world”.

COMPENSATION, OVER OR UNDER?

Compensation, Over or Under? In this piece, my intention was to explore the impact of objectification on the life of an adolescent. These experiences have greatly influenced the choices I have made while growing up, as well as my understanding of womanhood and self-identity. In retrospect, I have tried to distinguish between the behaviors that allowed me to empower

myself through these experiences and those that were actually detrimental overcompensation. To illustrate this, I chose the metaphor of a dancer, symbolizing the desire to assert control over one’s own sexuality, but at what price? On one hand, there is the allure and glamour associated with financial gain and the ability to dictate how one is perceived and engaged with. On the other hand,

The essence of my artistic expression lies in immersing into the spiritual dissociation of the world and observing clouds at mid-day in black and white. These elements define who I am as an artist and encapsulate my artistic aspirations. By presenting an unfamiliar viewing format, I strive to momentarily transport the viewer from their customary perspective of experiencing art. Through the interplay of color, texture, and substrate, my works aim to evoke an ineffable sense of nostalgia, reminiscent of the emotions often encountered in dreams. The connection between déjà vu and the enigmatic process of deciphering what we perceive as true engrosses my thoughts. Utilizing art as a means to navigate these contemplations fills me with profound gratitude, as it aligns with my inherent need for selfexpression. DISCOVER MORE Instagram: @emuhsart47

BLOSSOMING

I specialize in creating murals and various fresco styles, which I honed my skills in at the prestigious National Academy of Art in Sofia, Bulgaria, as well as the renowned New York Academy of Art. My expertise extends to abstract resin works, realistic floral paintings and murals, and decorative murals featuring antique gold and silver leaf that seamlessly blend with modern interior designs. One notable piece I have created is a breathtaking 9 ft painting that beautifully captures the essence of blossoming and the endless potential of human growth. It symbolizes the journey from darkness to light, representing the joy and profound contrasts found within the depths of our souls. Each flower within the painting carries a profound meaning, symbolizing the creation of peace and unity in a perfect world where love and wholeness prevail. The painting, with its remarkable

size, commands attention and draws viewers into its intricate details. Standing before it, one cannot help but be mesmerized by the delicate strokes that bring the blossoms to life. The vibrant colors, carefully chosen to evoke emotions of hope and renewal, seem to dance across the canvas, creating a sense of movement and energy. As the eye travels across the painting, it becomes apparent that each flower holds a story of its own. Some are in full bloom, their petals unfurling in a display of beauty and grace. These represent the moments of triumph and achievement in our lives, where we reach our fullest potential and experience the joy that comes with it. Others, however, are still in the process of blooming, their petals tightly closed, yet hinting at the promise of what is to come. These symbolize the times of growth and

transformation, where we face challenges and overcome obstacles to become stronger and more resilient individuals. The journey depicted in the painting is not just one of personal growth, but also one of collective evolution. The flowers, though distinct in their individuality, are interconnected, their stems intertwining and forming a tapestry of unity. This represents the power of collaboration and cooperation, showing that when we come together, we can create a world where peace and harmony flourish. Following my voluntary retirement, I wholeheartedly embraced painting. In November 2023, I had the honor of showcasing my work at the Flyer Art Gallery in Rome, Italy. During the spring of 2021, I experienced a burst of creative energy and brought into existence the untitled golden painting and “The Port is Burning.” Then, in November 2022, “Flame of Hope” emerged as a new addition to my artistic portfolio. These creations not only represent my passion for the arts but also serve as a testament to the everevolving nature of my artistic journey. Each stroke of the brush and every color choice was carefully considered, resulting in pieces that capture the essence of my emotions and experiences during those specific periods in time.

THE PORT IS BURNING

In 1976, I entered the world in the picturesque and charming town of Irakleia Serron, nestled in the heart of Central Macedonia in Greece. From my early years, the captivating art of painting has been my constant companion, sparking my curiosity and inspiring my initial forays into the world of creativity.

FLAME OF HOPE

Despite my formal education taking a different path, I have devoted myself to the world of banking for 22 years, where I have garnered numerous accolades and taken on positions of great responsibility from 1998 to 2020.

The process of bringing these artworks to life was as profound as the final pieces themselves, and I am thankful for the opportunity to share my artistic vision with the world. It was a journey filled with moments of inspiration, doubt, and growth. Each stroke of the brush, each decision made, and each creative breakthrough brought me closer to expressing my innermost thoughts and emotions. The process was a dance between my heart and the canvas, a delicate balancing act of technique and intuition. I am grateful for the challenges and triumphs that shaped these artworks, for they have enriched my soul and given me a deeper understanding of myself as an artist. NEW YORK ABSTRACT

As a Canadian mother of two living in Boca Raton, Florida, finding tranquility can be challenging in the chaos of modern life. Painting is my sanctuary. It’s a tranquil place where I can escape the daily whirlwind. When I paint, the world falls silent and disappears around me, and I am immersed in a sense of peace and absorption. I have a strong inclination toward painting on large canvases, typically ranging from three to seven feet in height, as they create a powerful visual statement. I opt for acrylic as my medium because I am captivated by its vibrant hues and their striking contrast against a pristine white background, a technique that I often employ. Additionally, I frequently apply a glossy resin finish to my pieces, resulting in a sleek and

transparent surface. In terms of content, I opt to paint what truly captivates me. As a result, I often find joy in recreating scenes from my journeys or capturing moments that have made a lasting impression on me – frozen imagery in time, portrayed through my own unique perspective. “Sunset Walk” was inspired by an evening stroll back from the beach, as the sun dipped below the horizon, leaving behind a vivid display of orange and yellow that silhouetted the palm trees. My first encounter with London left me in awe of its magnificent Tower and exceptional architectural prowess. I find immense beauty in the world and strive to capture the indelible impressions in my mind on canvas.

elegance of the bottles but also amplifies the vibrant colors they radiate, compelling the viewer to be tempted to reach out and grasp the bottle from the canvas.

CHAMPAGNE IN BLOOM

Champagne bottles have always mesmerized me, with that unmistakable sound of a popping cork, signaling a reason to celebrate and bringing smiles all around. We often speak of the simple pleasures in life that bring joy, and I find that indulging in those lively bubbles is a wellspring of inspiration. It’s not just the drink itself, but also the fascinating history behind it. Dom Pérignon is celebrated for his unwavering commitment to crafting champagne. Madame Clicquot elevated the Veuve name to unprecedented heights in an

era when female entrepreneurs faced numerous challenges. Bollinger, forever associated with the iconic James Bond, was the first to receive the Royal stamp of approval. I am captivated by the rich history, the allure, and the innovation behind champagne itself. In my large-scale artworks, every bottle measures at least four feet in height, adorned with a layer of resin that accentuates its presence against a pristine white backdrop. This intentional decision not only highlights the striking

In my work, I aim to honor the artistry embodied in the graceful design of these bottles, celebrating their timeless beauty, historical significance, and sentimental impact. Each bottle tells a story of craftsmanship and creativity, from the delicate curves to the intricate details. Through my dedication to showcasing the elegance and history of these bottles, I strive to preserve their legacy for future generations to appreciate. I am inspired by the rich tapestry of emotions and memories that these bottles evoke, and I am committed to capturing their essence in my work, ensuring that their cultural and artistic value endures to convey their significance as more than just containers. connection between language and art. Unlike words which use a definite sequence to express ideas, art expresses myriad ideas, symbols and forms in non-grammatical ways. But both, she believes have the power to connect the human mind beyond race and border. Inspired by poetry, yoga, music, abstraction and the indomitable human spirit, art is a spiritual journey for her, through which she creates her visual narratives with rhythm in colours, mediums and textures. She has exhibited her artworks in several exhibitions, celebrating life and its richness. Working primarily with acrylics, Sanili enjoys capturing the many moods and emotions of a woman in figurative abstract form.

SERENITY SERIES

The artworks here are from her collection of paintings called ‘Paint Me Freedom’; she visually represents the woman as beautifully imperfect, a nurturer and caregiver, resilient and unbroken, the hope of today and tomorrow, the quintessential woman. The soothing tones combined with the techniques of underpainting, dripping, layering, and glazing evoke a sense of a serenity, spiritual revival, peace and purity. “In a world which is ever changing, fraught with challenges, art empowers me to create a ‘new reality’, where I can express my inner voice with beauty, creativity and courage”. Sanili believes, each one of us has a ‘story’ to tell through which we rediscover and recreate ourselves at every stage. Life is her greatest muse.

“GORDIAN KNOT” SERIES - WHERE ARE YOU?

I specialize in the realm of metamodernism, where the timeless essence of nature triumphs over the fleeting existence of humanity. My focus revolves around the notion of memory—its inception, safeguarding, and exploration— guided by the powerful metaphor of the Node. It is about the “status

quo” of our civilization. On one hand, we are on the verge of transformation, yet on the other hand, the powerful ties that bind us hinder any change from happening. We cling to these connections out of fear of losing them, but in reality, we find ourselves trapped within them. The tense energy of these ties captures the essence

of the era, evoking complex and conflicting emotions. The Gordian Knot series explores our changing world, examining the interplay between societal shifts, merging the living and inanimate, and intertwining human nature with order. Restrictions provide necessary structure, but can hinder growth. Will we face challenges or embark on a transformative journey? How imminent is this change? This study explores the hidden barriers in our lives, dividing civilization from the untamed and distorting our perception of reality. Each person constructs their existence through preconceptions, anxieties, and past experiences. Stepping outside our comfort zone evokes fear. Are you confined or observing from outside? “Where are you?” We all want happiness, but our desires, doubts, insecurities, passions, our ambitions are intertwined and often tied into such a Gordian knot that without cutting it it is impossible to open the “window to Eden.”

I Still Feel You - A captivating depiction of a woman, sketched from behind, showcasing her voluminous hair, elegant sideprofile face, and the graceful curve of her back and shoulder. As I completed the artwork, a creative vision emerged – a mesmerizing double exposure effect on her back, revealing an intimate moment shared with another woman, locked in a tender kiss. This artwork embodies the profound emotions evoked when reminiscing about a special someone; the lingering sensations of their presence, even when physically apart. Release - A captivating illustration portrays a young African boy tenderly clutching a glass bottle containing a heartfelt note, adorned with delicate flowers and showered by raindrops from above. The concept behind this artwork centers on liberating oneself from emotional burdens and mental clutter by transcribing them onto paper and encapsulating them within a tangible object, effectively breaking the shackles that thoughts can impose. The symbolism of rain evokes the melancholy associated with these thoughts.

DAMP BOY

I enjoy blending realism and fantasy, creating a seamless fusion between the realms of reality and imagination. In my artistic creations, I often consider reality as the foundation, while fantasy acts as a catalyst for new perspectives and ideas. By engaging the audience’s perception, I strive to provoke

thought and introspection. My work primarily revolves around women, animals, and nature, incorporating them into themes of intimacy, emotional expression, and portraiture. As a pencil drawing artist, I am fascinated by pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved using black, gray, and white tones.

Damp Boy - Captivating portrait: young black boy with rainwater on face, hair, neck. Drawing textures on skin challenging, satisfying. Raindrops on face represent disappointment. FIELD OF THE FOREGONE

The materials of these works are chosen for their personal significance and for their transformational allowance toward weathering, withering, melting, and burning. Beeswax and resin link all as the medium of connectivity. This body of work is marked by materiality and physicality. It is rooted in the memory of my maker

ancestors: a seamstress, carpenter, tailor, and milliner. Offered up is a compilation of found objects that are melded together. Fire alchemizes the work. The process is fugitive, chancing the unpredictable, and often inconceivable until it occurs. I include and fuse natural

immersive experience of my work. The canvas serves as a dynamic landscape, a space where imagination knows no bounds, and art becomes a shared language that transcends the confines of ordinary expressions. Artists painting other artists is an age-old tradition. These paintings of fellow artists followed my study of paintings by Bastien-Lepage and Cezanne. My goal was to capture the youthful expression of the central figure in Haymaking while also incorporating the warm and cool colors used by Cezanne in Madame Cezanne to articulate the form and space of the figure. These subtle yet meaningful influences worked in harmony with my unique disrupted realism voice as an artist. Deborah Scott is an artist/painter dedicated to creating visually engaging figurative works. Scott left a successful business career managing multinational brands, including Cheerios, Betty Crocker, and Amazon.com, to follow her true calling.

GOLDEN HIGHTOPS

Embarking on a nuanced exploration of artistic expression, my journey as an artist unfolds as a compelling narrative interwoven with precision and innovation. Within the canvas, each stroke resonates with deliberate intention, creating a visual dialogue that invites viewers to engage in intricate emotions and ideas. At the heart of my work lies a commitment to transcend the boundaries of conventional art, offering a contemporary lens on timeless themes. The interplay between classical techniques and avant-garde sensibilities forms the crux of my artistic identity, where tradition and innovation converge seamlessly. My work incorporates distress and tears

to reflect the complexities and disturbances of our technological information age. Like the questions that arise from technology and AI, my work challenges our disrupted experiences with reality. Navigating the challenges inherent in the artistic process has been pivotal to refining my voice. Moments of introspection, the pursuit of authenticity, and the relentless commitment to craft have collectively shaped my career trajectory. These challenges are not obstacles but threads in the fabric of my artistic narrative, contributing to the resilience and depth evident in my creations.

Since then, Deborah Scott has become known for her figurative and portraiture works, which combine classical painting techniques with contemporary iconography drawn from personal biographies and archetypes. Her paintings have been exhibited in galleries in Seattle, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, as well as museums, including the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, the Florida Museum of Women Artists and the Whatcom Museum. In addition, she has been featured in numerous art publications, including American Art Collector, Poets Artists, the International Painting Annual, the Huffington Post, and Juxtapose. With a background in management and anthropology, she believes that she has discovered her unique visual language through abstraction. “Abstraction, to me, is a exercise of observation, isolation, fascination, deconstruction, and reimagining of reality,” she explains. The artwork series “Anatomy of being broken” (seen here, on the extreme left and top left) arises from a deep appreciation of textured skin or surfaces as a dual metaphor for both maturity and decay. Despite their abstract appearance, these pieces are direct representations of flat architectural fragments.
