WHY IS CALIBRATION OF YOUR CONCRETE MIXER SO IMPORTANT?

As material costs continue to soar in today's market, it has become increasingly important to ensure that all equipment is precisely calibrated Inaccurate measurements can lead to costly mistakes, causing businesses to lose money and valuable time. Therefore, it is important to choose a calibration service that guarantees precision and reliability.

Armcon, a leading UK-based calibration service, understands the significance of accurate calibration in today's market With the most experienced volumetric engineers in the UK, Armcon provides a professional calibration service, ensuring that your business operates efficiently and effectively.

RECYCLED MATERIALS IN YOUR PRECAST WORKS

Recycled Aggregates in UK Construction

The UK uses approximately 275 million tonnes of aggregates each year for construction, of which around 70 million tonnes are from recycled sources. With a diminishing natural reserve of sand and aggregates, the recycling of construction, demolition, and excavation waste is seen as a solution to the shortage in the supply of virgin construction materials. In fact, 25% of all aggregate demand in the UK is now met with recycled aggregates. However, there is still potential to expand the use of these environmentally friendly options by recycling more construction, demolition, and excavation wastes that are currently sent to landfill

Sustainability in Precast Concrete

Precast concrete offers several sustainability benefits, including the reduction of materials used and the toxicity of waste materials By optimizing the design of precast concrete, industrial wastes like slag cement and silica fume can be incorporated into the mix, reducing the amount of cement and CO2 emissions The manufacturing process of precast concrete generates low amounts of waste with low toxicity Additionally, precast concrete panels can be reused when buildings are expanded, and concrete pieces from demolished structures can be used in other applications

Recycling in Precast Concrete Production

The British Standards that govern the manufacture of precast products set performance criteria for products irrespective of individual components This means that many precast products, such as block pavers and aggregate concrete blocks, can incorporate a high recycled content within both the aggregate and the cement binder without affecting the end product performance About 25% of aggregates used in the precast sector are recycled or from secondary sources, and the sector aims to increase the use of additional cementitious materials Moreover, precast products can often be reused in their entirety

Environmental Benefits of Precast Concrete Production

The production of precast concrete offers numerous environmental benefits, including the use of less material due to precise mixture proportions and tighter tolerances Waste materials are also more likely to be recycled, and hardened concrete can be recycled Sand used for finishing surfaces can be reused, and moulds can also be reused Precast recycling systems capture almost all processed water, slurry, aggregates, or cement, which can then be reused in the production process.

FROM EXAM PREP TO VIETNAM: JACK'S JOURNEY OF HARD WORK AND REWARD

Preparing for an exam can be a daunting task, especially when it's the final one of the accountancy management-level exams, and everything is compressed into a three-hour exam with no break

Armcon provided Jack with time away from the office to study, a training provider, and resources to help him pass the exam

After the exam, Jack booked a trip to Vietnam as a reward for all his hard work. Two days before the trip, he received his exam results, putting him in a good mood ahead of his 13hour flight.

Jack virtually covered the entire South Vietnam during his trip He started off in Da Lat, in the highlands, which had an amazing waterfall and a giant statue of a lady Buddha that he got to climb (stairs inside) He also visited Mui Né on the coast, which had sand dunes that Jack drove across, and the sunset he watched there was incredible.

The trip to Vietnam turned out to be amazing. Jack caught up with friends who were travelling Asia and he met many nice people, not just Vietnamese but Japanese as well. Jack enjoyed the local cuisine, with Banh Mi and Pho being his favourite. He also got to celebrate Vietnamese New Year with the locals, which was a great experience.

In Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Jack experienced the busy streets full of motorbikes. He walked around the War Remnants Museum and got a tour around the Cu Chi Tunnels, which were used by the Vietnamese soldiers during the war. Jack spent the last few days on Phu Quoc, relaxing and spending days at the beach and water park
