This momentous event took place in June at Hillhead, one of the premier trade shows for the quarrying, construction, and recycling industries. Since its inception in 1978, Comet Equipment has established a formidable reputation for manufacturing high-quality concrete equipment Known for their durability, efficiency, and innovative design, Comet's concrete pumps are now set to revolutionize the UK market, offering British construction professionals a new standard in performance and reliability
The launch event at Hillhead was a major highlight, drawing considerable attention from industry experts, contractors, and equipment enthusiasts. Armcon, the exclusive distributor of Comet Equipment in the UK and Europe, was proud to host this introduction, showcasing the superior features and capabilities of the Comet concrete pumps

This cumulated in us selling the first-ever Comet concrete pump in the UK to Tommy Gaskell at Chorley Concrete.

In the ever-evolving world of construction and timber treatment, Armcon has once again raised the bar with their latest innovation: Formlac Hybuild Extra. This new generation of polyurethane technology offers a superior quick-drying, low-odour timber sealant that stands out in a crowded market
Superior Performance and Durability
Formlac Hybuild Extra is designed to provide a fully cured product that boasts exceptional resistance to concrete, release agents, retarders, and associated chemicals. This makes it an ideal choice for various timber and plywood applications, ensuring longevity and durability even in the most demanding environments
Efficiency and Ease of Use
One of the standout features of Formlac Hybuild Extra is its efficiency The sealant operates on a two-coat-only system, offering an equal build with fewer coats compared to traditional products. This translates to a significant 1/3 labour saving, allowing projects to be completed faster without compromising on quality Each coat dries within just three hours, meaning you can achieve excellent results in approximately 2/3 of the usual time
Impressive Coverage and Solids Content
With a coverage rate of 6m² to 8m² per litre, Formlac Hybuild Extra ensures extensive area coverage with less product Its formulation contains over 75% solids, which is almost double the content of most competitor products This high solids content ensures a thicker, more durable finish that lasts longer and provides better protection for the timber
Primer and Quick Cure Catalyst Options
To further enhance its application versatility, Armcon offers a primer specifically designed for quick first coat applications This primer ensures a strong base for the subsequent coats of Formlac Hybuild Extra, optimizing the adhesion and performance of the sealant Additionally, a quick cure catalyst is available, which, when added at a 5% ratio, reduces the drying time by 50%. This feature is particularly beneficial for projects with tight deadlines, allowing for even faster completion times without sacrificing quality.

In June, Armcon marked the end of an era as two of its longest serving team members retired, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and excellence. Together, Mike Stretton and Fred Bolton have worked at Armcon for a combined 57 years, significantly helping to shape its growth and success over the decades

His deep understanding of precast processes, coupled with his commitment to excellence, has not only driven numerous successful projects but also mentored countless colleagues Mike's contributions have left an indelible mark on the company, and his absence will undoubtedly be felt by all who had the privilege of working with him

Fred Bolton, Armcon's Finance Manager, retires after nearly 20 years of dedicated service. Fred has been the backbone of our financial operations, ensuring stability and guiding the company through numerous financial landscapes. His meticulous attention to detail, strategic financial planning, and unwavering integrity have been cornerstones of Armcon's financial health Fred's expertise has been crucial in navigating challenges and seizing opportunities, securing Armcon's position as a robust and resilient organisation
Despite their departure, With our current strategic growth plan in place, we aim to build on the foundations laid by Fred and Mike. They have earned their place on the Armcon Wall of Fame
